And this is the exact reason why some people see the Retake movement as immature. :)

I don't like it either.... i liked the ending but i still feel they need more gameplay added after the finale... like we should have to 'boss fight' harbinger rather than have him fall out the sky in a cutscene. unless that's dlc, i'll be really disappointed...

Well they couldn't realy NOT make it free after all this. But the problem with the ending is not "closure" and "clarifation". The problem is that it is broken an almost all levels.

They might be able to solve some with some VERY good writing. And I am willing to reserve judgement untill I atually see what they will do with it, but if it is another letdown, then Bioware just made everything worse.

No because they are still not delivering what they promised 16 different endings. There are only 7 endings in the game currently (if you take into account EMS, Earth destroyed or not etc...) and they are so similar I find it hard to believe people still try and defend it.

It's like being smacked in the faced and then the guy/girl gives you a tower to clean your face up. You don't thank them for the towel now do you?

not really, have you seen people complaining about how they handle dragon age origin's ending? no, right?
so why can't they follow the same model for ME3?

" you cannot make everyone happy" is just a lame excuse for not trying hard enough.

Actually they did.

Ah, well there is a big surprise... I wasn't here when this happened. I joined around DA2 days and all I remember is people complaining left and right. Seems like it was same those days too.

But dunno how those are big complaints in the screenie.

Yeah, I can appreciate it. Better than doing nothing.

Still doesn't quite make up for day one DLC and an awful ending though.

Why do I get the impression that this DLC freebie will not clarify the ending? Why do I get the impression that this whole debaucle is going to be spun for future DLC?

What I don't want to see happen is the DLC packs coming with a "flag" in them, whereby you buy X number of DLCs and you get a new ending. Buy ALL DLCs and you get 2 extra options in the end.
Don't forget the game ends with 2 words - downloadable content.
IOW - We were sold a shell game.. Simples.

I feel like this is just a PR stunt to silence the many negative responses they've been getting regarding the abysmal ending since release.

What I hope they'll do with the DLC is to acknowledge that the IT is correct, expand upon it and provide some additional closure. Still, if you can provide a satisfactory ending to a great trilogy, you do it in the initial release of the game. Not provide something that is so abysmal that your fans are lashing out at you instead.

The sad thing is that I simply don't trust them anymore.

No, I'm not really thankful for the free DLC.

The ending should not have needed "clarification and closure." Of course you can argue that the ending was fine but I can argue that it wasn't. It is simply a matter of opinion.

It's hard to be thankful for something that should have been there from the start.

But I am hopeful that the DLC will improve things. I am reserving judgment until I play it. If I still feel the way I do now about the ending, I simply won't purchase anymore Bioware products. It's simple and clear-cut. I would be doing this for myself--not to punish Bioware. You stop liking the products a company releases, you stop buying from them. It's as easy as that.

Many complain about linear story and inconsistensies in ME3. Well, guess what ME has always had linear stories with very similiar endings and a load of inconsistensies regarding what the codex says and what actually happens in the game. Really, what happened in ME3 isn´t new to the franchise.

I never asked for it. Do I have to be thankful because someone hands me a rusty wrench I have no use for? I would give it back with my expression saying "No you hold it.".

They have to work a lot harder to convince me this extended DLC will explain everything than if they finished it properly to begin with.

I would have been happy to pay for a full priced, well thought out, expansion pack than this free token.

The free DLC looks to be exactly what i wanted so yes i would like to say thank you to Bioware.

All i wanted was for the plot holes to be fixed and a better explanation is given for the 3 different endings.

I appreciate the effort, but I don't hold out much hope that it will be miles better and explain everything.  Given their history and poor handling of the backlash since release of ME3, I seriously doubt they'll be able to fix everything that I think is wrong with the ending.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt though, and wait and see.  As it stands, I don't think I will be buying another EA title anytime soon.  If that's their definition of "artistic vision", then I don't want any part of it in the future.  I'm all for the "tragic hero sacrifice" if the cause is justified or the reason is noble enough (and I think it definitely is for the Mass Effect story) -- that's fine -- but to say the current ME3 ending is "artistic vision" or some other bs...well, Bioware is blind, apparently.

The 2012 Golden Poo Award goes to...EA. (Big surprise there.)  And if my company had won the Golden Poo Award, I'd be knocking some heads and rethinking my strategy...not saying something snarky like "We'll continue to make more award-winning games in the future...".  To me that says:  "We know we make cruddy stuff and we're going to continue making cruddy stuff.  As long as we make money off of it, who cares."

Well, this fan cares, and I care enough not to waste my money on any further junk from EA.  It's sad that I have no desire whatsoever to play Mass Effect 3 again.  I was really hoping there would be more of a reward for my temporal, financial, and emotional support that I've given EA/Bioware over the years, but it's difficult to be grateful to someone who keeps insulting you over and over again.  It takes a bigger person than I am to forgive that kind of treatment; I'm glad EA has its die-hard supporters out there; they're going to need them in the near future.  It's just too easy these days to find out something about a game before you buy it now.  EA should think about that...

I do hope they "fix" it though.  I really do. But colour me skeptical (red, green, and blue skeptical! ;) ).

I'll just wait and see what happens. But as long as the starchild is not just in Shepard's mind it can't be good. Honestly I wish they had just sticked with Karpyshyns ending, no matter whether it was leaked or not.

I am grateful they are listening, I am grateful that they are trying to fix the problem with the ending. I am also convinced that what they are doing still falls short of what we were promised, but hopeful we can still convince them to do what is needed to turn the Extended Cut into a decent ending worthy of Commander Shepard.

Can anyone be thankful for the free dlc?

I'll be able to tell you when it's actually viewable on release. Until then, it's huge speculation from everyone. 11 Pages, and counting.

Me:"Dear Bioware, I want a new ending, or an edit of the current one"

Bioware: "We appreciate your feedback. We're listening."

Bioware:"Got it. You want clarification on the current ending. Here, have this DLC that expands on the current existing ending, containing extra cinematics. We are very proud of our artistic vision of the ending and we won't change it. We appreciate your feedback, though. Like srsly"

Me: "That's not what I want"

Bioware: "You should be thankful"

Hypocrite much?

I'm thankful at least for the goodwill gestures. The DLC for free, that's something.

Yet, I won't let that get in the way of the fact that they are still ignoring the fans more important demands, and they have skirted the issue that they have lied to us, directly.
