Am I thankful it's free? Yes. Am I completely satisfied? No. HOWEVER: to give Bioware the benefit of the doubt (it doesn't deserve) - we haven't seen it yet. We don't know everything that's going to be on there. For all we know, we could end up liking it. So I think it's worth at least giving it a chance. Heck, it's not as if it will cost us anything.

I'm not making any personal statements here.

But the way I see it, most did not want clarification of the ending. So it's hard for them to feel thankful for something they didn't ask for.

Have you ever been given a really bad gift at Christmas? Like an itchy sweater? Are you thankful to your loved one for getting it...sure. Do you like it? No. So on that level, you aren't truly thankful for it.

Wow. You are pretty horrible person, aren't you? If someone took time to knit you a freaking sweater, and you rolled your eyes on it becuase it's "itchy" Of course it's itchy, it's pure natural wool, and you are not meant to wear it over bare skin, it goes over a nice long sleeve flannel shirt, that someone probably gave you. And the only feeling normal people have in this situation is feeling of utter total grattitude that someone cares for you, no matter what your personal faults are to spend weeks making this for you.

It was a joke.

Jeez people. Get all uptight when I compare Mass Effect 3's DLC to an itchy sweater.

Look IRL if someone gave me an awful gift that I didnt' like, of course I would be grateful. Doesn't mean I like the gift. But I'm happy they thought of me, and went through the trouble.

But I don't think that applies in this situation. See posts above. And stop getting so wound up over a joke.

How does that not apply here though? They at least thought enough about us to do this, they didn't have to.

Because when someone gives you a gift, you don't pay for it. You have no expectations.

People paid for Mass Effect, and were promised things, and the company lied. They had reasonable expectations to get the things they were promised (since they paid). I do not see this DLC as a gift, it's a company trying to make right for a mistake they made. But they aren't addressing the main issues people had.

So I don't see why people should be thankful for something they didn't ask for, and doesn't address the mistakes the company made. So no, I do not think they are the same thing, at all.

You really like posting that thing, don't you.  You know Boromir wound up being wrong, right?

Also I noticed someone calling Femmeshep horrible or something.  She's actually pretty cool.

They don't need to redo anything. It's their work, its their story. You, as consumer, have a right to not buy it, but they abosultely should not kowtow to tyranny of the very vocal minority.

Clarification is perfect, because there are a few questions that do need to be answered, main one being why was Normandy in FTL travel, and where did it crash.

Sure, but what I'm saying is they can't genuinely call it a response to fan feedback, as it wasnt what the majority of people who provided feedback asked for. What this is is essentially a compromise, and who knows it may improve the endings, hell it may even be better than just adding new endings, but I will say that with the amount of plot holes in the ending, they have their work cut out for them. And it may not be enough

The whole game is full of plot hole. Starting with first one. (Hint space is really, really big, galaxies are very, very large, it would take more than 3 years for things to travel from "intergalactic space" etc ) People somehow latched on the very last few seconds of the game and than extrapolated some outlandish theories from it, and THAN demanded clarification. At the end of Arrival Shepard outright tells the Reaper "We will destroy half the galaxy if we have to to stop you!" Guess what, he just had to destroy the Autobahns instead. (They can be rebuilt)

...No?

It's a nice gesture and all but it won't fix a thing. You can't "clarify" something this god-awful. It needs to be retconned, purged, and nuked from orbit.

Sure, it can't get any worse really, so at least there's that.

The retake movement has evolved into nothing more but a hate filled machine that only wants to do just that, hate on everything. They would not have been happy no matter what Bioware did. It's unfortanate.

It reminds me of the "birthers", they whined and whined for the president to release his papers, and once he did, they all claimed it was fake.

You just can't please people who love to complain, becuase thats exactly what they love to do.

To be fair, Bioware DID say this ending was more than just a few cinematics... Perhaps there's more than meets the eye.

robertm2, I agree completely. I liked the ending, and now I'll like it even more.

I think we should send out a big "Thank You" to still the best RPG maker out there: Bioware.

No because you can't please crybaby ****es... A lot of them are all like waaaah waaah waaaah we want bioware to completely redo the ending. WAAAAH. I'm pretty ashamed to be associated with that group of radicals, as that was never the focus of Retake.

Yeah, that's what I don't get, it seemed like everyone in the Retake movement wanted something a little different, but the overall message was "Do something".  Now all of a sudden it's a completely plot-altering brand new ending or bust.  Well they're doing something, and I sincerely hope that you guys get something good out of it.

I know what you mean, I am part of retake myself, I just wish people will wait to see it first, Also saying cutscenes is quite vague, I personally think that once you reach anderson on the citadel it just becomes one interactive cutscene. See what the DLC contains and then judge it people. Also clarify is very vague as well. Just wait and see what we get.

There really isn't, if they had remade the ending in any way you guys would have made every attempt to tear the new one apart no matter how good it was.

See this bloke has the right idea. As a consumer you have a total right to not pay for the products you do not approve of. Heck, you may even boycott company when it does thing that disagree with you.

Like people who were not happy with lack of dedicated server in CoD: Modem Warfare. It worked great.

This is a good stance, but keep in mind, that you and many like you should also refrain from bashing it until you know exactly what it is. It goes both ways.

I agree there is no way to make everyone 100% happy. That's true, that's true in everything you make. But I do think a lot of people would have been happy had they addressed the A, B, C, ending and made it so your choices had a greater impact. Had the 16 endings actually been different (besides color and small tweaks).

I really believe a lot of people could have been made happy had they done this. Also, your belief that everyone in Retake are people that love to hate, is just non-sense.

There is no downside to this really. It costs nothing, adds clarification, and could possible fix the ending that so many people seem to have a problem with. I actually liked the ending but obviously people didnt and they did something about it. FOR FREE! so what if they didnt completely change it get over it its not going to happen. No other company in the world would do something like this so could all the people bashing them for doing something that is unheard of at least reserve judgement until it is released. Or until then get off the forums and take your games back or throw them in the trash. Its not going to happen so just let it go you are just wasting your keyboards vitality. They are not doing any other dlc until this is released which means no extra gameplay no extra multiplayer nothing. And they are doing it for you. How about some gratitude for once on this god forsaken website.

If you honestly think that the DLC they are gonna give us is gonna be any good, well i wish i had the soul you do. They are giving "clarification", something that we never truely wanted *we wanted closure* over an ending they said they arent changing. On top of that, its free so the effort they are gonna put into is the bare minamal. They are seeing no profit in this, so why put your top writers, coders ect on this. On top of that, i believe that some of the main voice actors have said they have not been contacted by BW to do work on this. This means that that it will be sences that where cut to save time/money when the game was first coming out, or it will be silent clips with possibly people they dragged off the street for 10$ to give voices.

There is no upside to this DLC for people who dont like the ending. It only gives to the pro enders like your self who enjoyed the ending, which is fine for you. But for people like me and retakers, its like telling a bad joke and then painfully explaining for 5 min on why we should of laughed, when instead those 5 min should of been telling a better joke.
