QUOTE:
Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?
  • No. BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for
the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC
will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is
    planned.

It's obviously more important than pleasing your fans and keeping your previously stated promises on how the ME series would pan out.

I'm also glad to see you support your artistic vision so thoroughly that your refusing to even talk about it at Pax.

You know, #1 the majority of your fans hated the endings.  No amount of clarification will change that the endings sucked.  There are numerous posts from people a lot smarter than me that have shown you time and time again where and why the endings failed on multiple levels.

You spent the last month in damage control trying to play down the fan reaction and "labeling" us as the minority and using the "catch phrase" artistic integrity.  The only thing you've done is alienate you from some of your biggest fans.  How do I know?  I was one of them.

See that?  WAS one of them.

Your entire handling of the situation reeks of corporate control and huge egos that can't accept that they might be wrong.  Not once did you attempt to reach out to your fan base.  The condensending reponses from PhDs and biased gaming reviews sites only further pushed us away.

Congratulations for ending one of the greatist gaming experiences of all time on such a terrible note.  No amount of clarification will change that.

But its okay, your artistic vision is safe.

You can have it and me and my hard earned money will go to more deserving game companies that actually care about their fans, especially with Kickstarter around.

The artistic vision was changed after the leak. Why didn't they care about their artistic vision then?

Lol i cant- but they almost did. Bioware was so close. And then they wrote themselves into pure faillure. Ive read fan written endongs that wouldve made more sense.  Bioware just....screwed the pooch on this one. Bad.

I don't think any of us have the skills or resources, you silly silly person. That said, I'm pretty certain nearly every fan on this site could write a better ending to the series. In fact, many already have.

None of us are boasting about being able to make a better game, that would be completely stupid. xD In fact, most of us liked the first two Mass Effect games, and even the third game up until the end. At least I did. But that ending simply wasn't suitable for the Mass Effect series. Pretty much ripped straight from Deus Ex (where it worked, because they'd been building up to it the whole game), it didn't mesh with what Mass Effect was about: The Characters and the choices. In the end, we get no closure on any of the characters we've come to love. A small handful of cinematics can't fix this. The relays are destroyed, and that fact alone undoes nearly every important decision we've made in the games.

We dont think Bioware / Mass Effect sucks.

We think how they're handling this situation is beyond terrible. Some people have given them SO many ways out of their bad endings, Bioware themselves has given themselves to many chances to douse the flames... and yet they dont, they seem to throw more fuel on it.

But to address your challenge, many people here have already wrote better fanfics, by themselves... ONE person without a "team" came up with better and more satifying endings.

....on a side note I'm making a very very small game called "Artistic Integrity" where you play as a company and are given many situations and a series of bad choices on how to deal with them, all the way to bankruptcy.  Coming "Soon"

That isn't the problem. We KNOW Bioware can do better, in fact, the ending itself... we ALL could do better.

Dunno about trilogy, but we sure as **** could come up with a better ending. Especially since, you know, tons of people already HAVE come up with better endings.

Well said, OP.

Every time I hear artistic integrity, I think of the former BP CEO after the Gulf Oil Spill when he was so self-absorbed that he was quoted on TV saying that he 'just wanted his life back.' Now I'm not trying to compare BioWare to BP, but I think that the attitude of 'artistic integrity' is along similar lines.

Why is so hard to simply admit one's mistakes? In all fairness, if BioWare had come out and admitted their fault, I'd have been fine with it. However, they turn their crappy ending around on the fans--who bought the game with their money--and condescend to us instead by offering faux olive branches. At this point, I cannot honestly say that I have faith in BW as a developer anymore, I pray that they prove me wrong. But I'm not optimistic at this point.

BioWare have used the term "Artistic Vision" as a fail safe, so that in the event the game went to s**t they can just claim we're all stupid and don't understand the "true meaning" of the game.

How about "we made a mistake and awknowledge that fan complains have serious merit."

Strawman all you like. Or don't. If you really think that ME3 got the ending it deserved, be my guest.

I'm not saying Bioware sucks, note I said:

ending one of the greatist gaming experiences of all time on such a terrible note

The entire series was amazing.

The ending and Biowares handling of the situation sucks.  They obviously don't care about their fans.

We are NOT the minority.
