bioware doesn't want to change the ending... ok don't.
Keep the ending then build off of it!
The indoctrination theory was perfect! Shepard wakes up after the events of the normal ending and the Special ending (beat the game twice, the short scene where shepard breaths to life) then finish the game with some degree of flexability! i mean it would've been all in his/her head right?
Does shepard live? Does shepard die! i think people (MYSELF INCLUDED) want the option to live or die based on our choices!
i know the special ending video shows shepard breathing to life (and i've been posting like crazy on it) BUT how has bioware approached this DLC? Will it further kill the series for those who want a happy ending or will we be content and pick the game up again dust it off, give it a hug then start playing ME1 through to ME3 again?
Not asking for a different ending.

the problem is unless they keep the mass relays and somehow SHOW that your decisions affected the end, like we were promised.
then it doesnt really matter. Good ending, Bad ending, Bittersweet ending. People want an ending that make sense, and to a lesser extent they want several different endings to choose, from Great (winning against all odds) to Really Bad (As in everybody is super boned.) and the gamut in between.
that's the whole point. Its about choice, its about having things matter. and this ending throws all of that away in favor of some spacechild nonesense logic that you in fact disprove before the fact in the SAME GAME.
EDIT: ME2 is a perfect example of what it is people want, that game could end SO many different ways, including YOU the main character dying, i mean up until that point NO ONE ever did that before. Kill of your main protagonist, holy crap that is edgy, and it worked. Because people had a choice, if you worked hard, you won through and got that "Oh YES!" moment when everyone lived, if you phoned it in, alot of people die, and even you die, your story ends there. In the middle of the series, wow, how unexpected.
It worked. And many ask, Why didnt Bioware simply follow the same tactic but bigger in scope? To be honest it seemed like the logical next step. Because you can't make it too big because there is only so much you can cram in the end, but still, Bioware had it in 2, dispite some of its flaws, it was good.

Finally,
I am now able to come on to the bioware social forum and post on the Mass effect 3 forums. It has been months of being able to say nothing, and sit and watch what is happening before my very eyes.
Quite honestly I am very disappointed in the behaviour that has been going on this forum. I do have to commend those who put together movements, and have made really good arguments against the endings, and have pointed out some very good things that really should be fixed up, and I'm pretty sure they will get fixed up. For example "SPACE MAGIC". Quite an obvious thing.
However I'm just disappointed that the fiasco with this ending has consumed almost the entire forum. And there's only been discussions about the endings itself, and bearly anything about a game, and thank god the forum has put up a separate forum for anyone still willing to discuss the game in full, and not the ending.
I have played the game from beginning to end. I have loved the game from day 1, and still to this day I LOVE THE GAME. I am now going through my second play through, and potentially the third play through.
I will reserve my judgements about the games ending until all DLC's have come out, and everything has been explained. Until then I won't make any judgements.
I have played the entire game, I loved it, was quite flawless except for more bug's than normal during a game which can be quite understandable because they were of course trying to get the game done so all of you guy's can see it.
I just hope all of you understand they have spent over a decade creating this game, making it happen, many hours of story telling, and lots of hard work has gone in to it.
They should at the very least be given credit where it deserves, not a stab in the back by the hard core fans.
They create the games because they love doing what they are doing. They deserve atleast some gratitude for the hard work.
Just remember that the people behind bioware are human beings. They aren't robots, they aren't computer screens. They are just like us with feelings.
Just remember the team behind mass effect will eventually be the team behind other great games in the future, and it isn't over yet.
Don't turn them off being creators. Give them the gratitude they deserve and critiques where needed.
But just don't over do it.
Please for my sanity, and the sanity of my friends Focus on the game. Play the game, and don't make any judgements until you have fully played the game and completely finished it.
Mass Effect 3 really is a great game, with a great story, and its just a shame to see it has been spoiled, and very went out in a very controversial way.
The team at Bioware, and the team behind Mass effect don't deserve it, and I feel for them right now, because quite frankly they have had to deal with thousands of emails of angry fans. And they have to put up with it.
Just remember it's great to see someone else be a victim of bullying, harassment, or a victim of a crime. But when it happens to us its a very different story.

@Christopher Sheperd
The problem is man, that we WANT to talk about how cool the game is, but the ending is SO bad, that it completly overshadowed the game. And it IS a good game, a GREAT GAME infact, but that ending. And that is how it will be remembered if the ending stands as is.
ME 1 "Great Game, pretty unique."
ME 2 "Awesome game, got it's flaws but Awesome."
ME 3 "Great Game, but that ending..."
and in some cases "Great Game, but that ending, so bad it makes me not want to play it or the other games again."
And that is a damn shame right there, that it's THAT bad that it stands to harm its predecessors who had nothing to do with it. Heck that's why the retakers are so passionate about it. They want the ending to fit the game, and the game to fit the series, and keeping to its artistic vision that had been established. So the series can be up there with the greats.
