1.) What did you hope to achieve by joining the RetakeME3 movement?
That Bioware would realize that they messed up with the ending of one of the best gaming franchises this generation.
2.) Are you satisfied with the announcement of "Extended Cut" ending DLC?
No. Not at all. You can polish a turd all you like, you'll still end up with a turd. From a writer's perspective, what has occured here is unacceptable.
3.) How do you feel RetakeME3 has been misrepresented in the media?
Poorly. They try to paint the people who feel cheated by the poorly done ending as whiny and entitled without even trying to understand the grievences of those who feel cheated.
4.) Do you subscribe to the Indoctrination Theory? If yes or no, do you think it's a plausible way out for Bioware to make a new ending, while keeping their original one intact?
No. Because it would make too little sense. In addition, if it were true, *we* the players should be aware of it. Not even the greedy EA executives are that stupid to buy into such a theory that could only make the ending worse.
5.) Where does RetakeME3 go from here, now that additional content has been announced? Feel free to give a brief statement (1-2 sentences) to explain your choice.[/b]
Hold the line.
Be civil. Why? Because there's a better chance at being taken seriously.
a.) Continue to hold the line for endings to be rewritten:
Yes.
b.) Shift focus to Bioware's "clarification" DLC and campaign for substantial content:
Fix the endings first. Until then, it's going to be remembered as having the absolute WORST payoff for any substantial investment, rendering everything moot.
c.) I'm happy with the compromise / new DLC promise:
No. I am not. As a writer myself, I felt insulted when we were given something that not only completely broke consistency with the story we've been experiencing until this point, but broke several cardinal rules of storytelling and pretending it's 'art'.
d.) Other:
Casey Hudson made a mistake. He needs to own up to that and remember why people love stories on an EMOTIONAL level, not a intellectual one.
6.) How do you feel about being governed by consensus? Do you feel it's successful?[/quote]
That's a case by case concern. In this case, with the voices of so many that feel angry and cheated, Bioware should do the right thing, take the hit, and fix the endings. Otherwise, it will tarnish an otherwise great series.
Yes, endings and closure are *THAT* important.
