Personally, this bugs me for I'm the kind of player that always zooms in when shooting, and almost never fires from the hip. I also like to have accurate assault rifles, but if I want say an accurate M-76 Revenant I have to use the scope. The main thing I dislike about scopes is that it gives me tunnel vision, which tends to be the last thing you want when using an assault rifle.
This isn't just a rant though. I felt that this could easily be fixed in a couple ways. One is to add a “red dot reflex sight” mod. They could even use the same model of the scope. Instead looking down a 4x lens, you zoom in like normal and the scope produces a floating red dot or maybe even a laser sight like the phalanx did in ME2.
Another, and perhaps even easier one, is to have a “smart choke” mod for the assault rifle that the shotguns do.
I'm not saying that they should get rid of the scope entirely. I know that some people like the scope, I can definitely see it being useful for weapons like the M-99 Saber. But I am just not pleased with having to have a narrow field of view to increase the precision of my rifles.
