This actually has me a bit worried, as I've been waiting for the patch and It's supposed to hit consoles today. I haven't been home or near my console for a week, but my femshep looks quite similar to the original posters, and I'm thinking the new *fix* is going to do everything but...

We are screwed... Again! The patch only makes the error message go away and that's it. My femshep looks absolutely different in me3. Congratulations BW! You have ruined so many things in this game that I'd rather think it never happened...

Anyway to clarify, below is an ideal situation. Pretty much perfect. However I've still got one FemShep up for import which I previously haven't changed at all since ME1, save for some makeup tweaks via Gibbed (but that kind of thing doesn't transfer anyway). So I see how she turns out.

I envy you.

Jade Elf, she's amazing... If you don't mind I'd really like to have the code for her since she looks almost exactly like my ME2 LadyShep.

What?! It was already gimped enough that she changed her hairstyle (why not just flip the mesh and call it a day? I don't recall parting my hair from left then right, cowlick and all)...it was already enough that I had to mod out the color of her eyes and adjust her eyebrows...

Sad... :(

Your ME2 character looks like a person.  The ME3 version does not look like a modern game, and certainly not a successor to ME2.

I agree. The ME2 characters looked like real people. The ME3 ones look like CG characters in an older game. I think the biggest issue is probably the eyes. They just don't look as good as they did in ME2. The shape, the colors, and especially the makeup. It seems like they somehow forgot that the upper eyelashes should have some thickness and length, too. The fact that the lower eyelashes are so much thicker and longer and darker than the upper ones makes the eyes look weird. Then add to this the low-res textures, the different hair styles and colors, the not-so-good lighting, etc.

BTW today I did the beginning of the demo with default maleShep to see how he looks and his skin texture is so much better than femShep's.

Yeah I have to agree, I wondered also what the hell had happened to my Shep, cause she looked pretty good in the first two but in the third she had a duck face :S Do no want duck face! lol

@mireisen: The face of your femShep in ME3 looks much thinner to me than your ME2 version. I think that's another big difference.

I got my girl back, but it was not easy or straightforward. It was a major overhaul.

Here are the codes for comparison:
ME2: 933.J1P.118.C8B.78S.15S.3MA.AD1.QGB.IL5.636.275
ME3: 733.J1P.118.C2T.78S.15S.31N.6D1.KGB.DL7.636.472

I had to change the base bone structure from 900 to 700. What the heck? Why did this change positions on the slider? This distorted the proportions of the remaining features, and I had to experiment to put them back in place.

Then I used the ME2/ME3 Gibbed editors. I copied the Offset Bones attributes from my ME2 save game and pasted them into ME3. This fixed the jaw so it was structured the way I expected. The nose bridge is still too high, but I can't fix it with gibbed. Our noses do get bigger with age, so I'm willing to let this slide.  I also reapplied her eyeshadow.  Copied the iris color from ME2.  Eyes are still slightly different, but that may just me being nitpicky at this point.  I haven't been successful in getting the hair color back.

Here is the comparison.

It should not have required this much editing in order to get back my base ME1/2 faces which I never custom edited.

Here's another comparison with a different character.  This is my renegade Shep.  Which one looks like it should be the newer, more modern game?

It's not just the face models not translating.  Why did the ME3 graphics engine devolve?

That's nothing. My import left me with this:

I'm thinking the skin tone is wrong, and something weird with the eyes... can't quite put my finger on, but it just looks like an EVIL TWIN FROM ANOTHER DIMENSION or something.

Part of the problem is that the top of the head is wider in ME3 and the eyes are set lower down on the face, giving a lightbulb or hydrocephalic look. I had good luck moving the eyes/brows a few clicks northward and moving the chin a click or so southward (to elongate the face) as well as making my Shep a shade darker so she looked less like she had terrible acne. In the face generator it looks like she's been tanning, but in the game it isn't really noticeable.

Interesting! I could have sworn I tried manually copying the bones to no avail, have to try it again. Definitely looks quite close now.

The offset bones may make a difference depending on how drastic the deviation is.   Also make sure to hit enter before clicking ok - I noticed that some of my settings weren't saved if I didn't do that. The morph features didn't change anything at all for me (hence I can't fix the nose bridge).  The eyes are still nagging at me, but I'll have to come back to it.  In game cinematics she still looks too young.  Really need a high res skin tex.  Hoping someone will take up the cause (I'll do it as a last resort, but it isn't my area of specialty).  At this point my plan B is fixing this myself, because the current state of affairs leaves me skeptical if this will be addressed at all officially.

The lighting and shading are surprisingly low quality for a modern game like this, and has backtracked since ME2.  I'm not really sure why because I don't see what the game engine offers that the lighting/shaders needed to be sacrificed.  Only way to fix this without an official patch is with some very complicated post processing injectors. Skyrim has some very nice ones that makes huge improvements over the vanilla...if your machine can handle it.

Have you tried the textures from the first page of the thread?

I think the small overall improvements mean that they had to scale some things back for the consoles; and without a more dedicated PC port like Demiurge's, the problems are clearly visible.

Yeah...although Anderson says, "You've gotten a little soft on the edges," my initial thought was..."WTH...FemShep looks like she's lost 15 lbs. and got a really bad brow lift and collagen injection on her lids."

I wanted to ask if there was any way to flip the hair mesh on Gibbed's for my FemShep in anyway so that she'd at least have the same hair parting as she's had in the previous two games. I suspected this would've been possible due to the mirror scene prior to...I think the Cerberus mission in ME3.

I'm still really sad over the face import not living up to our wait. "Artistic integrity" hits again.

Can't let something like players' personalized characters get in the way of your art.

^ Yours is off…but not by that much. It actually looks like the same character. Looks like you're playing on a console, so I dunno if you can copy a save over to a PC to adjust the colours?

Face mesh (#7) changed - where are the cheeks gone, they were already at 0 gaunt! Eyes morph changed, lips morph changed, lashes from I don't know where, textures - oh well, 256^pix normals, won't hurt, yep?, don't even get me started on the hair... Do I need to add more? Okay - I want my Shep back :/

Import from ME2 with the code (import without the code is the same except for lips):

I recreated my Femsheps from scratch by just reproducing the strong lines of each......and they're way, WAY better than the old ones who are just plain ugly in comparison

Except for one Femshep (I'm waiting for the patch to see how it goes)

I didn't have time to try it this morning*, has anyone tried back-importing their ME3 character into ME2? I'm not sure what to expect that to do, but it might be an interesting experiment.

* Ended up playing the ending too even though I intended to quit before London.

** And I'm not sure about tonight, I think I might run Eevy through ME3 with Liara rather than Tali, rather than go back to ME2…although LotSB <3

I tried importing one code backwards (just figured if the face import would not be fixed, I´d create a Shep I could migrate all the way back to ME1) - she lost the eyelashes and there was some clipping with the eyes, but overall it did import and looked quite the same. Granted, it was a quickie try so I didn´t take pics or scrutinize the differences all that much to test it´s viability.

The clipping happens with the last eye-type IIRC, and the eyelashes come back after you restart the game and load a save.

As for the topic, I actually prefer ME3 femshep faces - they don't match the ME2 ones perfectly, but they look better IMO. Although seeing alot of faces here that are "off", it's possible that I just got lucky with them.
