In every case the eyes seem to make the biggest difference.

^ These are the same eyes mine uses.

In the slider they are next-to-last and their shape was the most changed between games. They are the most distinct in ME2 and every FemShep that used them always look like a different person in ME3.

I agree, I think the eye shape has changed. In many cases they seem to be bigger, as if she had wide open eyes. It also seems as if the upper eyelids were smaller than before. I can't check the actual mesh, but that's how it seems to me from the pictures.

I tried using the second to first in the ME3 which I initially though looked closer, but in my test runs she ends up looking even more off.  I decided to run with the slightly wider eye as it was more similar, but younger.  It makes my ME3 Shepard looks she's 26 years old, instead of 36.

To me a lot of the eyes in the CC in ME2 were just plain weird and these eyes were among the few that looked like normal eyes. It's a shame that they changed them.

I rather dislike that the fade haircut for Male Shepard was removed. It's a very common haircut in the military and I was just pissed that my moto Shepard couldn't have his raging high and tight. His face came out alright but the hair color and style were off. I guess it's better than what some of the other people have gotten, though.

Can I just say that I have a crush on your Shepard? I have a thing for men in uniform. I wouldn't kick him out of my game.   I admit I'm more drawn to your ME2 version.

He is rather cute.

And apart from missing hairstyles and saves affected by ME2 face code bug (imported ME1 but went to custom appearance briefly), almost all MaleSheps I've seen come out rather well.

I wish no special treatment had been given to FemSheps. It only made things worse.

My Shep didn't import very well. I had to adjust her nose/mouth depth (outward) and her nose/mouth height. I also changed her mouth to one that resembles hers from ME2 and gave her red lips and a new hairstlye. She looks more normal after the adjustments, but still a bit different from my old Shepard.

Edit: Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but the more I look at this minimized picture, the more I start seeing a resemblence between picture 1 & 3.

I rather like the military look for most of my Male Shepards. If rarely make them with facial hair, and if they have it it's very minimal scruff. I never make them with hairstyles that would be unnaccetpable within current regs. Since he was an ME1 import I don't think I have sliders or an ME2 code, but I can provide the ME3 one. It's 541.MII.CKJ.F31.LAP.17W.HAT.77W.9H8.1A6.156.5

I do not know if you will be able to retroactively use it in ME2.

Thanks for sharing! I like your version better than Sheploo because I think he looks more like real military guys I know. He fits the part. Sheploo is attractive, but he screams 'fashion model'.

There's seriously something wrong with this.

How did that happen? Not even the hair color or eye color are right.

^

A lot of our Shepards are being replaced with younger blondes.  It's hard for mid thirties Shep ladies to get work these days.  :P

Let me know if there are any issues with the facecode.

She looks nothing like your old Shepard! :o All of her features are different. Isn't that the default face we get if our imports don't work?

Default face? That would explain a lot.
Oh well, I'll just have to recreate her face from scratch. Better than waiting until a patch gets released that actually works.

I don't want to get the patch just yet as I have heard it does terrible things to Xbox players' games. I don't want to risk that just yet. Anyone know if there is a fix for the...fix?

As for ME2 to ME3 character, it didn't import TOO badly. I had heard of the problem before hand, so had taken a ton of pictures on my camera of my ME2 Shep to refer to. Even so, I probably spent a good 1 - 2 hours fixing her in the character creator.

She ended up looking like a tired-er, more mature Shepard, which is good, but in some scenes I did think "that is not my Shepard."

^ Apparently, yes, the xbox patch is causing problems. I don't think there's a fix yet, but check the patch thread just in case.

You were lucky to get a more mature-looking character, at least, if nothing else :)

Yeah I was really worried it would totally screw her up, I am very attached to her!

May try and get the ME3 face code for her, so I don't have to tweak her all over again when I do a replay.

Even with the patch my FemSheps look pretty weird... Oh well, luckily I was able to recreate them manually thanks to extracting the Facecode from ME2 Save-tool.

Hm, you mean that in your case if you did the import, it didn't work right, but entering the face code separately did?

Yes, the manually inputted code was not perfect (hair color, eyebrows & makeup were wrong) but for the most part, their overall faces were okay, I just had to tweak a few little things.

Something that keeps bugging me is the default female mouth.... In ME1 & 2, the default mouth is slider 7, but in ME3, I'm not sure it's even there anymore? I can't decide if in ME3, the closest one is slider 7 or 8 :/

From what I can tell, the actual geometry of the faces from 2 to 3 are the same. The problems are texture and lighting:

First the face texure is very low quality and lacks the detail that ME2 texures did, it also has almost no specularity which makes it look very flat/matte. That lack of any "shine" combined with less makeup make the eyes look like they are flat on the face, and not set in at all (even though if you turn the head to the side you can see they are). To compound this, the shadows seem to be softer which makes the face look flatter still. The eyelashes also seem to be sparcer... adding to the "the eyes look different" feel.

The colors also changed some. Hair and brows got some new colors which is going to throw the code off a bit (that shouldn't be too hard to fix though). All they eye textures seem to be lighter, which bugs me. My ME2 character had dark brown eyes, which look light brown in ME3 (so I switched to the all black eyes to get that dark dark brown look I had before). I also had to make my skin tone one shade darker because it seems they lightened the skin up too.

In the end my character looks the "same" just a little less life like.

This!

And seeing all those mods and efforts for HD texture packs, I wonder why nobody tried to convert the old ME2 textures to ME3...

I tried already myself but I´m not familiar with the Unreal engine and its compression formats and all that stuff...

The one thing I managed to do, is to swap the default custom skin of my femshep, with the skin texture of ME3´s default femshep and I can tell you that textures like the iris and the skin can change the whole "feeling" of the very same headmodel!

Should probably try one of these makeup/skin texture packs to see if they help at all.

Still goes without saying, of course, that none of this should be in any way necessary, even if it did work -.-

Hope you have better luck with it then I did. The texture doesn't change the eye shape, which is what I need.
