This is crazy.

If this is fixed and the differences are due to lighting please explain this. This is a backport of a ME3 generated facecode put into a brand new ME2 game.

Look at the nose (how can you miss it?) and the eyes. They aren't remotely the same.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

OH GOD MY SIDES!

EDIT: Or any tips on how I can compare faces? I read somewhere that somebody used transparent layers in Photoshop. Did that work decently?

Yes, I did.  It works very well.  Check my signature link for more details.

I am seeing people saying that even though the faces can import, they do not look identical to how they appeared in Mass Effect 2. While the face codes do now correctly import into Mass Effect 3, due to improvements in things like shaders, lighting, textures, etc they will not look identical to the faces in Mass Effect 2. This was the same situation when players imported faces from Mass Effect 1 into Mass Effect 2.  The team has worked very hard to make sure that faces look as close to previous versions as possible. If there are small details you want to adjust, remember you can adjust your faces after importing before you start playing the game.

I see you've finally made your position clear on the matter. A mistake as far as maintaining customer loyality is concerned, but so be it. I won't dwell on your future employment opportunities.

But there is one important item left on the checklist:

Symptom: ME3 imported face looks nothing like the ME2 face (usually looks like one of the ME2 presets)
Context: A player starts a new ME2 game by importing a ME1 save. Player then briefly goes to the customization screen for whatever reason but decides to go back and accept the imported face.
Cause: ME2 attaches a facecode to the player save if the player visited the custom face menu, even when the player backtracks and accepts the imported face.
Solution: <insert here>

It's been a pleasure. Not really.

I'm so glad you were able to get your picture in before the lockdown.  At least it will stick around as boldface that this issue is NOT resolved!

Heheh, yeah...IF the thread had to be locked, at least my infamous comparison pic was the final word.  I barely made it!

As some guy over 200 pages ago said in the now defunct thread: "that piece of rotten flesh picture!" :D

Uh, Chris...how does that explain a Sheploo importing with a different face?

Come on, a Sheploo? That face should not change! I should get the pics from my friend (viggorrah) and show you, it's hilarious. The imported "Sheploo" looks kinda like Cortez, actually...

Different textures and whatnot. It sounds like magic, but it's actually complex science.

I understand that we are all very upset right now and we are detracked this thread but I have to say this.

Right before he closed the thread I was trying to play ME3. I could not get back into it. Feeling more depressed I went onto the one thread that actually gave me a sparkle of hope because of the awesome people trying to crack this problem.

That feeling was brushed aside when I read his post. Yes, I am angry and I will never forget the way BioWare treated me. Don't you think I'll ever buy any DLC or games from you again. You've had your pound of flesh. Go parade with it.

That aside. Anybody trying to get default femshep from ME1 into ME3?

EDIT: Or any tips on how I can compare faces? I read somewhere that somebody used transparent layers in Photoshop. Did that work decently?

I know someone who did a Sheploo import to ME3 and the face she got wasn't Sheploo's by any stretch of the imagination.

And not only are they different, but the ME2 version is more distinctive, nuanced, and realistic.

There were definitely changes to lighting, shaders, and textures.  But they weren't improvements.

The Elder Scrolls has better face-importing than Mass Effect.

Bethesda has bugs flaws littered in their games too, but they never have a primary design feature completely broken.

I am very upset, but I might be able to get over it for one game.

All I want to know is if this is what we should expect for all future Bioware games. Is there a point of me purchasing new Bioware games if the advertised features don't function?

Are those features for the next Bioware game going to be swept under the rug just so you can tweak some changes that are obviously inferior to the promised features?

I highly suggest anyone living in North America to use their rights and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. www.bbb.org

I've already done so. I wish I'd waited so I could mention Chris Priestly's complete lack of professionalism.

That wouldn't help. Chris is just posting Bioware's public statement, its not his own words.

He's just the one passing the message to us- that message being utter crap, mind you, but yeah.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Wonder if they even noticed the part where the enterprising users here figured out how to fix the import for a lot of the remaining users?

Or the one where in ME2, even if the import didn't work, all the assets were still there for manually recreating…

Copy my sig. I won't remove it until this is fixed as it should be.

Seriously, people having to use gibbed to somehow manage to get their shepards back? A 3rd party program?

I cannot believe this patch was certified. It is insanely ridiculous. Bioware, I'm fine with your me3 story, it is a great game, but wtf, how can you possibly release a patch that is broken (aka doesn't work) and say it is perfectly fine? I am speechless.

Not sure if that was a respons for me but I've seen that picture. Was quite funny I thought. Then came the Shep that changed race.

Weren't you asking if someone successfully imported a default femShep face? I don't know about femShep, but I knew one where Sheploo got messed up...and I haven't seen any pictures other than the one my friend showed me. Not sure if she posted it elsewhere, but if she hasn't, then that means she's not the only one having that issue.

That is all sorts of epic fail. XD

So I went to the suggested Customer Service link... yeah as expected it's useless. How has no one at BioWare been publicly fired over all of this? Yeah that patch is great... the one that is crashing everyones system? That one? Obviously it must have been certified by the same people that approved the face import feature.

Is it just me or do ME3 textures look really crappy compared to ME2 textures?

As far as EA support goes ignore the telephone and livechat options. Just go straight to email.

Talk to Game Advisor - just fill in the blanks and pick email correspondence.

Aye, certified by the same people that thought the ending was good and designed all the plot holes.

Thats some epic fail if the default face don't even import.

No, this is not correct.  My face from ME1-ME2 was identical.  IDENTICAL.  There were not small variations - it was the same.  I looked at it and said, yeah, that's my Shepard.

I'm looking at a different person in ME3 (with default import), and it is not an improvement.

I've shown that a backport does not work the same.  That is a failing case.  If it doesn't work backwards, it's broken.

I'm sure that the team worked very hard to make it look the same, but they missed something.

Can't believe that the original thread on this has been locked and removed. This is all sorts of shades of disgusting.
