Wow you people got alot of time on your hands. Just move on already, plus every last one of those "femsheps" are ugly as @@@@. Step away from your T.V's/monitors, outside and real people is were it's at not videogames.

Hope that helps. :)

I am curious: do you suffer physical discomfort as a direct consequence of your mental incompetence?

Is that what you ask yourself while doing your 18hr+ gaming sessions in your parents basement?Posted Image

This person is obviously posting out of genuine concern for his fellow forumers, and is in no way a troll.

I recommend not replying further to Range Rover's postings and instead reporting them for Harassment.

So really you just changed the variables right?  I thought woodbyte's program merely helps in understanding where the LODs go?

Using ME3's import/YAML (minus the purple eyes):

Now, the added varibles changed it to:

And using the Lazarus file changed it to:

Not sure if you could tell, but the biggest difference from the variables to Laz is that her eyelids had a bit of fat cut away, so it made her look much more realistic. It looks slightly assymetrical but very few people have a totally mirrored face anyways; maybe that's why the last pic looks more realistic.

Don't listen to Range Rover. His first post screamed passive-aggressive troll. The commitment to this project is what makes it amazing.

Tried Lazarus with a clean ME2 import. No go on my end, unfortunately.  However, the nose is significantly improved.  Eyes are the same (not improved).  Mouth is smaller (worse).  Face shape is good (as good or better).

I tried with both a facecode import and a no facecode import.  The facecode import was better.  No facecode import gave her a crazy Joker (Batman) smile that was rather sardonic.  Smiling while Earth burned is way too maniacal for me.

Strangely, when ME3 imports my 'no facecode' save game, there is an error on the squad screen.  The facecode is displayed with no dot separators.

I'm assuming you copied the ME2 scalar and vector variables into your ME3 save with Gibbed?

So what I'm doing wrong? :(

Well the included mapping is in no way complete so expect odd results particularly if the 2 saves have very different faces. But it looks as if you've somehow deleted the map. Freshly downloaded and with last executable (see here) it should look like this after loading the saves:

(click for full size)

*picture*

Yeah I deleted the map to see if it will import my ME2 save correctly. :D
Unfortunately the program must have some problem reading the geometry of my ME2 saves. I've tried all my saves from ME2 and they all load in the lazarus tool with big cheeks.

Posted Image
The only way I can think of fixing this is by ignoring all the verticles on the cheeks. But then again I'm not sure if the rest of the face is correct so I can start creating my map.

Here is my ME2 save if someone want to check it out.

However I have no problem with importing ME3 saves. I've made a diffrent face in ME3 just to make sure the problem is only with ME2 saves. ME3 Screens:
My original face:

The test face:

As you can see ME3 importing has no problem.

Here is something funny.. Posted Image

PS
Guys please don't feed the trolls. I don't want this thread locked. ;)

I'm really impressed, I never knew so many people here were coding experts/students. I only wish I had half the grasp you guys have. Keep up the awesome work! What's the state of play on official channels? Has anyone been helped by Customer Support etc, or is this the future for face import bug sufferers?

My ME3 femshep came out lackluster as well, with none of the various posted fixes providing much help. I'm guessing my issues are from textures/meshes and my own bad eyes, but I'm not a graphics guy so I'm really just shooting in the dark.

The Lazarus/LOD program is interesting, but felt a bit tedious to go through and map every point. It seems that the mapping should be mathematically solvable; i.e., it sounds like a classification problem, and I'd wager that using algorithms like k-means, k-nearest-neighbor or another algorithm/combination could produce a decent solution. I'd experiment with it myself, but as a non-programmer, unless I can get the points in a simple txt/csv format, I'm largely clueless as how to work with it. Interesting stuff, nonetheless.

Guys I need to share this:

By adding the missing variables stated on ihnoc's blog and using woodbyte's Project Lazarus mapping, I was able to get a very good representation of my Shep...although in my serious playthrough I'll change her hair (the custom sexy for ME3 isn't doing it for me).

The original YAML ME3 one looked like...

Thanks again guys!

Is it just me or is your YAML face quite close to what your ME2 face was? In my case, the two faces are so different, like night and day.

Posted Image

^ Like this. And no, it's not a remnant face code issue, as there is no face code in my ME2 save. Is this severe dissimilarity why I have no luck with any fine tuning? :(

You mean did I apply eyeliner?  But of course!

Using a combo of both Lazarus and my hand edits, I took the most like features from each and combined them into this.

Lighting is very dark at the beginning of the game. I think it's a pretty darn good match. In game, it 'feels' more like who I was expecting!

I need to get her to a salon and fix her bad haircut and dye her hair, fix the skin texture for more luster, but other than that, I'm feeling pretty darn pleased.

Left is Lazarus interpolation. Right is applying my hand fixes to the Lazarus base.

I'm calling success. Thank you so much, everyone!

If anyone has any tips or help on how I can get my haircolor back, please let me know!

3. If you are using the correct saved game and have not modified your face code, please report your problem in the Technical Support forum for your platform or contact our Customer Service. Thanks.

Oh really? Well could you tell EA support that?

Their response to my complaint about my femshep import looking unlike my ME2 femshep:

Thank you for writing to Electronic Arts.

Unfortunately, we do not handle in-game support issues for Product at this time, and I am sure you understand this fact and co-operate with us. At present we are only providing support for Billing, technical and account issues. However you can visit their forums, located here: www.forums.electronicarts.co.uk . You can also update your support request by clicking on the My Questions link on http://support.ea.com. The best people to speak to would be the developers and the only way to do that would be to post on the forums. We here are only tech support and have no control over the design on the game.

If it's an unaltered ME1 import, yeah, no face code. If you recreated your Shepard in ME2 or started a new game from ME2, there will be a face code.

ME3's face generator in general was just... off. For females, especially. I bought ME3 at the release, so I remade my FemShep's face from scratch, and I remember thinking how difficult it was to just get her to look mildly attractive and feminine. And the eyes... good God, the eyes. It's like they put them in upside down or something. The bottom eyelashes are about six inches longer than the top eyelashes, and they're all just shaped really weird. The choice of noses was pretty limited, too.

Haven't tried importing a face after the patch because I've mainly been playing multiplayer, but I get the feeling it won't end well.

It's kinda depressing, because the graphics in ME3 are SO much better than ME2, but it's so hard to make a FemShep that doesn't look like she was beat savagely in the face with the ugly stick. :(

Bad lighting and lack of makeup are a girl's worst enemy.  :P

(Not including being warped by import tools against our will)

ME3's face system is different from ME2, so I doubt it will ever be properly fixed. I'm not really concerned with it anymore, seeing as I haven't even played ME3 in a month. Not even sure if I am gonna get the free DLC when it arrives. I'll probably just end up giving my CE away to my friend. Just no desire to play ME3 again, and see the 99% exact same ending again. ME2 was different, it gave you a reason to replay and see what you could do differently at the end (plus its ending music was just superb). Even ME1 gave you more options at the end.

This is what I hoped back when I started my first ever femshep playthrough last month, from ME1 itself. Look how that turned out. -__-
