I agree. I don't have enough eyeliner - lol.

The skin seems waxy... I don't know, there's just something about it that bothers me. And the lips too. Like for some reason the lips just stretch the hell out there like a scar a la joker style.

In ME2, more "plasticy" but better detail.

But, there's a kernel of truth in that. While I wouldn't call my ME/ME2 versions exactly ugly or plain, I suppose they're a little off the norm. It seems it's definitely easier to create or import megababe-type Shepards in ME3.
…
For the skin issues, could try to turn bloom, specularity and/or AO off or down in the hidden configs somewhere. Or, I assume it's got settings for those in Coalesced or wherever…the bloom is pretty extreme.

Hm, I may have actually misclicked on the jaw slider now that I remember.
Aside from that, I think ME3 has a different shader effect or something going on that makes the skin look different.
I notice that sometimes, when loading a save, my Shep looks different for a few seconds then the shader kicks in.
I'm not an artist, so it's hard for me to describe. ME2 is more triangular like Nicole Kidman. ME3 looks more heart shaped like Tyra Banks. Both pretty smokin' hot.

The waxiness I really noticed on Kaidan. Something about the way Kaidan is lit makes him look really bizarre about 90% of the time; almost as if he has a static light source that completely overrides any dynamic lighting/shadowing at all. That and his cold, dead eyes.
Also everyone's hair is so super duper shiny compared to skin that is more or less completely matte, and they end up looking really doll-like.

My Shepard wouldn't make the front page of Maxim. I loved her, and she wouldn't care. She wasn't a supermodel, and would still kick this dude's teeth in all the same.

ME1->ME2 changes were acceptable. ME3 was just off. Chin size and mouth height drove me nuts.

Another good example. ME1->ME2 look very similar. ME3 is different. I fixed the eye height in mine, but there's something still not right. It's still not my Shepard. The import codes are the same, but it's not the look. I'm not sure if it's a change in the mesh models, or symptomatic of another import bug.

ME1 was tolerable. In ME2, it looked like someone took her face and stretched it sideways. Forehead seemed too broad, lips were too thin and stretched, and the eyes seemed too far apart. In ME3, I actually think she looks pretty good (at least in my opinion). The face is a bit more narrowed, the hair frames her face as opposed to sticking to the edges of it, lips are smaller and fuller, cheekbones can no longer be used as a back up dagger.
Plus, they added more than two facial expressions to ME3. Overall, I love the changes. Looking back at screens and footage I recorded from ME2 is almost painful in comparison.

Yeah, my femshep in ME3 isn't bad, but she just feels like a different person from the first two games. I liked her appearance most in ME2, and trying to tweak her appearance to look similar in ME3 was very hard, and even with all the work I put into it she still looks off. All her features simply look bigger to me.
That's a good way to describe your transition. Bigger lips, chin, cheek bones, nose…
LadyofRivendell's looks quite good - although I actually like the ME2 version, too. Either way, ‘she’ seems to have retained the basic qualities much better than most of the examples.

Oval (ME/ME2) vs. heart-shaped (ME3) does seem to have something to do with it. Dunno if it's the base mesh, or just a property of certain facial structures?

My original shep looked like a badass tooo...for some reason the only way i've been to recreate him at all is to make him have a fat ass head which kind of makes him look stupid...
This is presumably a Broshep? Would you happen to have screenshots? I certainly don't doubt you, but my fellas all turned out pretty good (especially comparatively).

I disagree I prefer my femshep in ME3 compared to the previous two. In ME1 she looked almost like a teenager. In ME2 she moved like a goddamn caveman but looked fairly decent. Now in ME3 she is perfect. Note this is just my opinion.
I would gladly post a picture but my ME3 save data somehow disappeared when I decided to do a second complete playthrough of the whole series.
Pics, or it didn't happen.
Like I said I lost all of my data when I restarted the series I am currently in ME2 so it might take a while.

All of my import faces look pretty hideous in comparison to their ME2 versions. I'm especially disappointed with the big eyes and ugly noses.
I think my noses came out OK, or at least the biggest problem with them was moreso the intersection of the bridge and the brow, which was weird – especially when scowling, which happens way too much. But, yeah, a lot of the pics in this thread do show that the nose is somehow more prominent, in a slightly cartoony way.

Armor: worse than in ME2
Animation: worse than in Fallout 3
Walking sounds: My Shepard isn't an Elcor.
Makeup: WTF! where is the makeup?
Hair: in ME 3 better than in previous games

Though now that the Import is working I can actually make an attractive tweaked face.
Even the Canon female shepard for ME3 has a face that turns heads away.
