I have a question but I don't want to peruse 55 pages to see if it's been answered, so here goes:

Does the PS3 version of ME3 have the face import issue? I would assume that it doesn't, since from what I understand it uses the same game engine as Mass Effect 2 on PS3.

It's not the engine itself, it's the face meshes/offsets/etc. (at least for these remaining bugs), so I'd imagine it does. And unfortunately Lazarus won't work for PS3 saves at all yet, unless there's a pc/xbox to/from ps3 save converter.

Thank you for the answer. It isn't what I wanted to hear but at least I know what to expect. :/

How are people getting the bigger eyelashes/more eye makeup on the ME3 faces? (i ask because this is one of the main differences between my ME2 shep and my ME3 shep)

I started to update my BSN blog post, but found I had too much new information to add. I wrote a new blog post with my current results with Lazarus.

Lazarus: Subject Jhadzia in ME3

Notes on Gibbed Parameters I found useful for the transformation are in my sig.

At the risk of sounding like a newb because, well I am with this whole Lazarus program, has anyone written instructions on how to use?? I loaded my ME2 FemShep and ME3 monstrosity and can see a few differences already but don't know what to do next to force the ME3 side of the program to match the ME2 side. So if anyone has instructions, it would be appreciated greatly!!

Hell if one of you Lazarus/Gibbed pro's wanted to help, I'd even consider paypaliing someone $20 if you could make it match my ME2 femshep!! :D

Well, since I got the flu and can't Play ME3 the whole day long...  btw, I don't need your Money.
PM me if you still interested.

Hey, maybe you'll be one of the lucky 60% or so for whom it works fine as is :)

So is there some trick to getting better results with this as-is? Like I said, nothing I've fussed with on it produces anything different than huge ducklips. Looks absurd.

So you made a clean import from ME2 into ME3? I found out that if I changed too much stuff like eyes and cheeks I would get the ducklip effect and have her eyes clip through the eyelid. Maybe after using Lazarus you can try adding back stuff from Gibbed ME2 save into ME3?

Yarp.  Tried my original ME1->2 Shep, then when that failed, recreated the face fresh in ME2, same result.

I also get the eyes clipping a bit.  Mostly on her left/viewers right when looking head on.

As for the rest, again, I don't really know how much of this works, so... Yeah.

I think the moral of the story here is "Stuck with ugly fauxShep."

Well, they started with ME2, the engine is indeed not so different on the PS2 as on PC and Xbox and they couldn't used Gibbed in ME2, plus there are very little PS2 People in this Thread. So I assume that the Problem is really not so big on the PS2.

Are you on XBox or PC?  If you'd be willing to share your facecode, I could see if I can replicate it on my screen.  (PM me if you don't want to share publicly)

PC.  Yeah, I can do that when I'm home this evening.  The "re-created in ME2" is ever-so-slightly off of my original (cheeks a hair too thin, neck a bit too thin), but only in very tiny ways that I don't think I'd much notice.  That'd be the one with an actual facecode.  Otherwise, I'm not 100% on how to get my codeless face to generate a proper one.

Also I have adjusted the position of the eyeballs to fix the clipping when Shep closes her eyes:

Yep. The parameters of the eye balls are these:

Eye_Right
Eye_Left

I have altered the "Z" and "X"

"X" is for in/out
"Z" is for the height

Had clipping issues with the eye map on the left eye.  Setting eye_left xCoord by  -0.1 removed the clipping. Thanks!

Tried that one, and a different one.  Duckface both times.

Yep, same for me with 011 and r17.  Eyelashes great, but lower half of face not so good. Round collagen-injected lips and blocky cheeks.

Dear all,

The original post doesn't make it clear - is the Lazarus Project for femsheps only? What is the latest update for male versions as well?

I know the biggest cross over problems are with femsheps, but male ones aren't being imported correctly neither

Thanks

Currently femShep focused because they had the worst problems. If we can nail down the issues remaining with femShep, then I'm sure the same can be applied to maleShep (and it should be an easier transition as most of the learning curve is already done).

We could also use more male examples, I think there's only 3 or so in the entire thread.

Post 'em if you got 'em! :)

Added a note about Brosheps and brought the link to Lazarus up higher in the OP.

Ok, here's mine so far. First off, ME3 post 1.02 patch import on left and original ME2 on right. Middle is a manual tweak using ME3's CC. I'm actually playing with the middle one now.

Now here's what Lazarus has done using the r17 lod_modding.xml file. r17 of exe on left and the r18 exe on the right.
Image IPB

r18 exe is looking really good. Click above image to enlarge and see the colours in the cheeks, hair and lips make the face come to life.

Still not my shep in my eyes, but definitely progress. Looking forward to the duckface lips problem being fixed (no rush woodbyte)

Finally, I tried Astralify's own lod_modding.xml (back on page 54 I think) and that looked same as right picture, with the eyelashes in slightly different place.

I'll hold off doing Vhalkyrie's gibbed tweaks until the base face looks right.

That looks good! Are you referring to the ducklips as the distortion in the lipsync animation?

Though, because I'm curious: Even assuming lazarus can get something closer than the patch did, do I have a lot of work in store for me to get it actually right? I'm trying to decide if this is just more trouble than it's worth.

Possibly. There's a lot of trial and error still going on. Wouldn't say it's point and click ready.

For me, with the latest map and gibbed edits, what I got is an acceptable level where it's more playable.

This is also a hack.  100% is really uphill unless Bioware steps in.  So depends on what your tolerance level is for things that are close, but not exact.

[Edit] BTW, I don't think anything is ever going to make those opening sequences look good.  I have no idea what's going on there, but it's Shepard's worst hair day ever.

For me, just loading the two saves and exporting the new save was enough for a playable character (unlike the 1.02 import), so it's ∞ better

There're some tweaks I have to do still: taking out a couple of the headtop LODs to prevent clipping in the hair, and some tone editing in Gibbed…but strictly speaking, they're not necessary.

In short, give it a try! Only way to know how much you need, and getting before/after images might help people here give pointers.

Okay, my new Alyna looks closer to the old one, so it's good... except that her eyebrows are black. That's just ... odd.

At this point I'm working on unmapping the lips because the animation isn't working right. Other than that, I'm finally happy enough to play. I've started a new photo album with pictures with my 'real' Shepard.

As good as it gets in the opening sequence.

Kaidan Approves!  Aww yeah - Shepard is back in town!
