@DoctorEss

This is what I get if I use the LOD map that has eyes/mouth unmapped.  (She has renegade scarring due to my save game edit so I could import her into ME3, so ignore the face tex.)

Image IPB

Try again with a clean download, and the latest map. I don't know what map is in the zip, but it is different then the r17~18 maps. Download those separately.  The other picture I posted is with latest lazarus/map file.

Maybe I'm eyeballing it wrong, but that just looks the same as the bad face I ended up with.  Duckface lips really bad.

Yes, I am showing you a wrong result with the wrong LOD map.  I can replicate your problem if I use the wrong map.

Huh.  Then I must be confused.  I tried a few different map files (and two different .exe files) last night, and I got the same result every time.  Pinched features, duckface.

The other one you posted still had busted eyes, so essentially, if I gather correctly, I can either have the patch's complete screwup of my Shep, or my choice one of two complete screwups from lazarus (either eyes or mouth)?

Blarg.  This is terribly frustrating.  Especially seeing other people be able to achieve their Shep from just loading the two files and hitting save.

Can't go by what is in the squad screen.  The eyes on squad screen on mine is weird, but in game she looks great.

I can't see eyes THAT pinched as showing up right normally, though.  Besides which, I don't even know which .exe and map files I'm supposed to be using.  I've tried (I believe) 3 map files, and at least two exes.

If you've noticed, I haven't posted any of my squad photos.  Yes, they are narrowed.

I posted the latest files and maps a page back. link

I too get the pinched eyes. But she looks perfect in-game, in my case. What I use are these:

Lazarus Project 0.1.1 : http://code.google.c...zarus-0-1-1.zip

EXE file from r18 : http://me3-lazarus.g...arusProject.exe

Map from r17 : http://me3-lazarus.g...lod_mapping.xml

For most people, this should give rather satisfactory results, I believe. :)

If it works great, if not, then maybe it will be better a few releases down the line.

Also I might add there are still some idiosyncracies with the lip syncing, even if you get the still photos looking 'right'.  If this is bothersome, then it's probably best to wait to see if the issue gets ironed out.  For me it's tolerable because the rest of it is so much better.  I *know* I'm looking at the same 'person', and not a doppleganger.  I tried unmapping the lips, but that caused other distortions.  So I decided the occasional fat lip in the cutscenes can be skimmed over.

I would suggest that you delete the entire Lasarus project folder and start over with the files that Vhalkyrie or StarAce905-2 linked just to be sure that you're using the most up to date files.

It might be that it still won't work, but best make sure you've got a clean workspace to verify that.

Sorry for the newbie question, but I've been trying out the Lazarus Project and ended up with a rather comical-looking Shepard. The lips look particularly weird - but I think the eyes I can tweak with Gibbed. I just really want the lashes, to be honest :)

So, I know you can leave a certain region unmapped, but how exactly is this accomplished?

I tried both of the Lazarus maps with both exe's (1-1 and 18 I think), and my Shep always came out looking a little weird. The mouth wasn't right, and there seemed to be clipping (teeth maybe) around the left side of the mouth. I figured it might be the mouth #1 problem some people have talked about, so I imported her face into a new game and switched to mouth #7, which is nearly the same. After exporting the headmorph and importing it to my in-progress playthrough, I tried Lazarus again. Same clipping problem and weird looking mouth. Unchecking "Adjust OffsetBones" with either of the Lazarus maps made her look like a serial killer, so that option was out.

So what I did was use Astralify's map with "Adjust OffsetBones" unchecked. This got her the eyelashes, but didn't appear to make any other noticable changes.

I think the missing eyelashes are a big part of what's making people's Shepards look odd. My Shep isn't perfect, but she's mostly recognizable as being the same as ME2. The lack of eyelashes and the pasty complextion are my big issues. I didn't even realize the eyelashes were gonzo until I saw it in this thread - I just knew that something was seriously off. I'm sure a lot of the female players probably picked up on it right away though. :)

I've tried the r17 map, last night, I recall that much.  Also the 0-1-1 lazarus, and I believe it was the r18 exe.  So I dunno.  Something tells me I'll get home tonight, do it all again, get the same derp results.

Is there some extra step I should be doing that I'm not?

Hmm... I'll have to try that map with the base import and see if it's anything close.  The eyelid shape is also part of it, though, in my case.  If you compare the before/after, the ME3 base import has a bizarre stare because the eyelids are rolled back into the head so far.

**nods** I wasn't trying to imply that this would solve the issue, just a best practices scenerio to ensure that you're on the same page.

Also there may be mouth/eye clipping for some faces because the teeth/eyeballs are unmapped. Eyeballs can be moved with gibbed, but dunno about teeth.

Yeah, it's funny how big a difference the eyelashes can make.  There are other things too - as Vhal said, the eyelid shape, and for me the way the eyebrows are positioned on the face.

But yeah, the first time I saw my Shep, I didn't say "Her eyelashes are gone!" I just said "There's something wrong!" and didn't realize how big a part of it the lashes were until I saw the restored version.

Shhh... not too loud.

Also, yes.

EDIT: I've also been having trouble with the lips mostly. Will probably throw up a screeny or two tomorrow.
I did restart a game with an ME1->ME2 import then using Lazarus with all the options checked.

Eyes, not totally satisfied even with the imported ones. Are these still being mapped or am I just very unlucky?

I've always scoffed at false eyelashes in real life, but now I'm thinking maybe I should for special occasions.  It does add that extra wow.

@Da-Fort: We all have varying levels of satisfaction.  If I were to nitpick, I could find plenty wrong.  But I've reached my level where I'm satisfied enough that I'm enjoying playing, despite some flaws that poke through now and again.

It's interesting that I enjoy playing my occasionally flawed lipsync with my real character more than playing the faux-Shepard.

I've always been a huge nitpicker in all categories when it comes to games. Sorry for sounding like an ass. I was just wondering how development was going.

Nah, I understand. Just trying to set expectations. I'm not sure how likely a perfection or near perfection translation is without Bioware.

I've watched your progression.  I'm calling you lucky.  I hold no illusions of getting to see my Shep anywhere near as close as yours came out.  (Not even counting my OTHER Shepards)

Even though I'm fairly certain I already tested all the maps and exes yesterday, I'll give them another go tonight, but something tells me I'm just going to be disappointed again.

Already not enjoying the game as is, adding the fakeShep onto it just makes it worse.  Pretty likely I'll just give up after one more round of failure.

Funny that the Shepard with the lowest amount of emotional investment is the only one I have that translated even remotely close.
