I'm not sure if it is responsible for our femsheps not looking right, but i'm pretty sure it's not helping.

Btw, i've been playing around with texmod, and it seems that femshep is using low-res normal map actually. It's 256x256 as opposed to 512x512 in ME2, and it doesn't looks very detailed either.
I'm not sure if it is responsible for our femsheps not looking right, but i'm pretty sure it's not helping anyway.
I know. This is one of the irritating things. Pre launch Bioware promised PC users would get hi-res textures at launch. Launch has been and gone, and no hi-res texs. Not even a mention if it's still coming.

Seeing how they never fixed Garruses low-res face in ME1, i wouldn't hold my breath. (:

Bah, what was the point? 1/4 of it got mangled anyway
BTW...do you happen to know if maleShep got low res texs, too?

I use the ones for Default Femshep. They look better. (Not using the base texture, didn't want freckles!) It's a bandaid fix, but all things considered, easier to fix than her face shape!

Nope, male shep's seem to be using 512x512 ones.
I think it should be possible to convert ME2 textures somehow to replace ME3 ones as UV-mapping seems to be intact. But using them as is results in some weird lighting.

You need a Windows machine (Vista/7, XP might not work) to run Lazarus, and it works with PC saves. You can take Xbox save files and convert them from/to PC saves to work on them, too. PS3 is right out.

Bioware gave us the experience of Shepard being indoctrinated (if you believe that). Now we're experiencing the Lazarus project real time resurrecting Shepard's face.
Seems like too much trouble with this lazarus project for one ****ty game. no seriously, why bother with all that? Why the fanbase must fix everything for them

Purely put, I'm sentimental. I've played a lot of games in my time, and to make a long story short, this series has been a standout for a number of reasons. For one, I am a female, and Jennifer Hale put a voice to an empowered female protagonist unlike any I have seen in video games. Most RPGs forced me into a male protagonist, or a lame stereotype female. Among my favorite movies are Alien/Aliens. Sigourney Weaver was a brilliant action heroine. My Commander Shepard allowed me to become Ellen Ripley. From the moment Shepard stood upon the ruins of Sovereign after everyone thought she was dead in ME1, I was a dedicated fan.
So maybe it's silly or asinine or whatever you want to call it, but I care. I had this 'actress', my personal Sigourney Weaver, for two games, and I'm going to see her to the end.
Well sort of. Fortunately I already went through with the stunt double, and I plan to alt-f4 at a certain point (staying spoiler free after all, but I'm sure many of you know where). I'm not letting her see that.

Ok, deleted Lazarus completely, and installed r18 exe and r17 xml as per first page, and did the defaults (offsetbones, scalar, vector and multiple vertices all checked).
Ducklips and gammy cheeks. Click images to enlarge.
You need to recreate your face in ME2 using mouth shape # 7, which would be identical to yours in appearance, but won't produce this issue.
I imported my Shep from ME2 again and switched the mouth shape to #7 (it had been #1). I still got the clipping or whatever it is at the left corner of the mouth. No hamster cheeks, although I don't think I had them with mouth #1 either. Even with mouth #7, she still didn't look right, and was getting that weird pursed look when she spoke. Not worth it imo.
The low-res textures are disappointing. Why they would have the male Sheps using 512x512 and Femshep at 256x256 is a little puzzling. Jesus, I think most of the KotOR face textures were 256x256, and that game is 9 years old.

How does it look without the eyes/mouth mapped? Letting the ME3 mouth through doesn't have the lip animation problem if it bothers you that much.

Alright, seriously, please tell me what it is I'm doing wrong. I deleted all my old lazarus stuff, downloaded specifically the ones you told me to, that you said you used.
My result is identical to the "bad" result I showed you earlier. Pinched features, duckface. Doesn't come out like the one you showed me that you got. I give, I have no idea why it comes out like this every time.

It shouldn't matter which facial features you would choose on import in ME3, as they will be adjusted by Lazarus anyway. But Lazarus uses face morph from ME2 save as a reference, and that's the one you need to fix.
Just start a new ME2 game, recreate your face using mouth shape #7 instead of #1, and make a save. Then load this new save in Lazarus and proceed.
btw, broshep is not only using higher res normal map, but diffuse map too (1024x1024 as opposed to 512x512 for a femshep). That's not as crucial though, since 1024x1024 texture for a character's head is a bit of an overkill anyway, unless you're playing with really high display resolution. But still, no love for femsheps from BioWare it seems.

Just a couple ideas:
1) Offset bones enabled or disabled?
2) What ME2 save game are you using?
3) What OS?

Really...it does not take that much resources to make textures for both...what gives?
BTW, I am on a really high HD, and it is noticeable to me.

Though a bit off topic, I have to agree. Hale does a hell of a job. I didn't know her talent until playing Mass Effect, and this was hearing her before as Naomi Hunter in MGS. Also, to me she does such a good job I can't even think of starting with Sheploo and hearing Meer's voice. Every clip I see of that guy makes me cringe.

I feel that you might not be doing anything wrong. Just that you have a Shepard with a face that Lazarus can't perfectly tune yet. Btw, the ducklips condition, does it occur in squad screen or in-game?DoctorEss wrote...

For example, take a look at my Shepard.

She looks damn ugly in the squad screen, but cute in-game. Though mine's ducklips are much less noticable, either way.
Sucks if yours is one of the very unlucky ones, though.

The problem is I tried his facecode on my end, and I end up with a decent match (I think it looks ok, but I understand these things are deeply personal). He ends up with a 'duckface' one each time.

1) Tried both.
2) Tried with a "created in ME2" and with a "created in ME1, imported into 2".
3) XP.
Sorry for being such a pain over this. Don't worry, after a bit more muddling and failing, I'll likely give up and stop being a pest.
