Couple more comparisons on how the importer got it wrong (and Lazarus/Gibbed got it right).

ME3 base import versus Laz/Gibbed

3 things left that would make it a 'perfect' translation.

1) Only way I get more improvement on this is new textures.  I've confirmed several different ways the face structure is exact.
2) There is still warping on the lower lid of the left eye from the Lazarus translation.
3) Lip shape is great, but distorts lipsync animation.

I preferred my ME2 hair, but if I can't get it, then I can do without it.  I've got used to the new 'do'.

@Vhalkyrie
it seems like ME3's morph features tend to be a bit wider than that of ME2 ... like.. look at those nose, width between eyes and cheeks!

@Hellosanta:

The ME3 importer got my eye height wrong. It's subtle, but easier to spot in the vertex comparison in this gif animation of my headmorph.

Anyone know if there's a good way to find out what the index number of those vertices would be in the LOD0 list? Lazarus shows the ME2 index numbers, but not the ME3 ones.

Set Ignore Vertex at the Problem zone in Lazarus didn't help?

No, that resulted in a duck mouth kinda thing on her upper lip.  At least, that's what happened when I ignored pretty much the whole area bewteen the nose and mouth, and the upper edge of the lip.  But there are problems to some degree with that whole area.   But I could try ignoring just a couple vertices instead...

I would give it a try. Searching for the Lod Vertices in Gibbed is a Pain in the a... job.

I just love her nose shape now 8D hehehe I think I'm going to change chin depth a bit later.

@Vhalkyrie
yes, yes the eye height, i noticed that, too. And also, ME3 jaw line starts much lower than that of ME2. I think Bioware has given some changes to mapping of each morph features for some reason and since the importer in the game reads the only face code instead of mapping of the face as a whole ... we have the import problem B(

Whenever I load my Lazarus save file, my computer just... starts to stutter and subsequently freezes. What's going on here?

*edit* I used a save made midway through the game - maybe that's the problem. Which save is my import save? I'm a bit of a tech noob, so.. if anyone could help me out, I'd be grateful. :blush:

Lazarus only reads the Game data from your ME3 save. Did you have a Full Microsoft .NET Framework 4 version installed?

@Clarian
in the Lazarus Project.exe, click the each vertex in the preview (ME2) to get the LOD0vertices. The number in the { } indicates the vertex number in ME3 headmorph map.

I reinstalled Framework 4 and that did the trick! It seems my version was corrupted. Thanks! *virtual cake* :wizard:

Anyway, I managed to get Lazarus working.. But the results are less than optimal, I'm afraid:

(Lazarus).

Odd lips, weird patch on her hair (as also happened to Penny), and creepy eyelashes. Her facial structure also looks off.. Hrrm..

I did know that the vertex numbers without the brackets are the ME2 Lod Vertices, but I didn't realized the obvious her. Well, sometimes you can't see the forest for all the Trees...  :whistle:

Edit: typo

I have ME3 for the 360. I also have ME2 for the 360 & PC, and ME1 for the 360.

Can somone tell me if its possible to get back some of the old ME1/2 hairstyles for my imported ME3 FemShep?

From what I've heard I would need to use Texmod, and that can only be used with ME3 PC, not ME3 360. Can anyone elaborate?

One more ME2-ME3 comparison.

Posted Image

My ME2 girl has this sassy "I'm not taking this nonsense" look about her that's missing in ME3. The ME3 version just looks 'softer' somehow. I don't think this is something that can be changed in the headmorph as I think it's a change in the motion capture, same with the body animation.

Haven't been able to play much, just finally got past Mars, but it is a much more satisfying playthrough. I feel more connected because I associate more of the ME history with her.

(Also I noticed her left eye distortion is present in ME2, although to a lesser degree.  Maybe if I fix it in the ME2 headmorph, it will translate better in Lazarus.)

Sorry for the slightly off-topic question peeps:

How are you getting your ME2's facecode? I just finished an ME1 playthrough (first time playing femshep/custom character) and imported into ME2 but I can't see my facecode listed anywhere. I read somewhere that I need to be on a mission and go to the squad screen but that still doesn't show anything for me.

I'm on the PC, if that makes any difference.

Try with it checked off.  OffsetBones checked off worked best for me.

That worked ta.

Looks like you have lipshape #1 on your ME2 import. I had the same clipping thing around the left side of the mouth. Do you have your ME2 facecode? If so, load it up in a new game of ME2 and change the lipshape to #7. They're almost the same, and you won't get the lip weirdness.

:( But what about those of us who have Shepards with no face codes? (And the face code 1.02 gives is wrong, cause if I put it back into ME2, it gives a way fatter lip.)

My ME1 Shepard had a facecode only because I recreated her in ME2.  I wanted to see if I should change her eye color to green (I decided to stick with blue).  But if I delete her facecode in Gibbed and import in ME3, it gives me super sized Joker (as in Batman) lips.  How does Bioware explain that one?

@lillitheris: Hahaha!  I only know part of mine...the parts that I changed frequently when I was trying to fix my face in the CC.  933.J1P.......AD1.QGB.IL7.636.275.

Worse, I know what they mean.  #9 face mesh, #3 skin tone, #3 complexion.#J neck, #1 face size, #P cheek width...#A lips (second to last), #D mouth depth, #1 mouth width. #Q lip size, #G mouth height, #B nose shape.#I nose height, #L nose depth, #7 hair color.#6 hair....the rest are hair/makeup settings

Really happy you guys are still looking at face import issues!

I just replayed Mass Effect 1 and 2, and while I didn't notice it the first time I played 3, it's really a jarring contrast.  Here's my ME2 character on the left and the ME3 import of her on the right!  The horror! She looked so much more natural in ME2.

I'm going to give the tool a try, now.

My ME2 face code was 731.F7G.L1F.48A.JDQ.6BQ.1H9.711.D96.417.2G7.116, I believe, for anyone interested.

Keep in mind, EA10, sometimes the eye color and DEFINITELY the eyebrow color are often one spot off. I see the greybrows problem on yours definitely.
