Retake ME3 : Let's cut BioWare some slack and work together on Extended Cut
#76
Posté 06 avril 2012 - 08:09
what we can do is stop lashing against eachother and just give are feedback in a polite civil way.
Lets remember Bioware is one of the companies that has amazing story writers so lets give them time on only work on the ending than we will see.

I'm sorry, but Bioware really insulted you all in the blogpost about the extended cut. Yet your going to over look what they said there and in their actions toward you in the past because of free DLC that adds cinematics, etc.
I really feel for all of you willing to put up with such abuse.
But if your willing to do this to yourselves, and not have some kind of self respect, its really about who you are.
What I am willing to do is see what they come up with then judge it on its own merits.
If it still sucks I am outta here.
But if they actually do redeem themselves and I know thats a BIG IF at this point. Then I will be thrilled and able once again to enjoy this product. My paragon FemShep is waiting at my last save, cause I killed the program when Casper told me my choices, after shooting him in the face a few times. It was hard to do killing the last part of my game that way. I hope my wait is worth it. I could be wrong. But I lose nothing in finding out.
Love ya all - great community of fans no matter what your stance.

How many times do you have to be kicked in the face before you realize you got kicked in the face?
Did you read the Blog post on the Extended Cut? That was the biggest non swearing way to tell someone to F*** Off and only talk to me when you have money.

We kinda already provided them with close to 800 pages of feedback and ideas.
If they didn't listen back then, they will never. And I'm really tired of wasting my breath on people who'd rather go "nanana we are aaaaartists" than man up and face the fact that their vision was not genius

I've been kicked in the face once. By ME3's ending. They say they'll do something about it. Why shouldn't I give them the chance?Jackal7713 wrote...

Sure, the PR talk isn't exactly nice, but let's face it, fans have been quite a bit worse. If I had to face some of the knee-jerk reactions here, I'd find it hard to keep the condescension out of my voice as well.

Which means that the final choice with its three options will stay. But I think it's quite possible that some of their consequences will be adjusted.The_Crazy_Hand wrote...

Besides, the possible lack of a "happy option" is the least of my worries. I just want things to make sense.

if they made the ending like this.

this would be a brilliant way to end it.

I'm not trying to be condesending. I was only trying to tell people that they better then how they're being treated.

They will just clarify the endings so the simple minded peasants like us can understand their masterful artistic writing...
They're not adding a new room to the house, they're telling us why the bath is called a bath.

I think it's really quite destructive to assume the worst, and go about things as if they are bound to be negative.
Sure, we've been burned recently; but the Mass Effect universe is something we all really love and appreciate (otherwise we wouldn't give a hoot about the ending), and there wouldn't be a universe that we really love and appreciate if there weren't capable people behind it.
I sincerely think that the reason that endings were so poorly received is because frankly, Bioware ran out of time. Unfortunately, they are now on an EA schedule, which means you have to get the hits out, and get them out consistently. This means that you can't delay a release until it's ready.
BUT: Bioware now has more time. Let's let them work on it and be constructive.
I also think it's amazing that they aren't charging for this. I never expected that to happen.

How are we supposed to work with them if we have pages and pages of content that people have written and all Bioware has done is "listen" but not "Act" on them? Will they trust fans or even ask them to input?
My guess is no, they will write up a few ending cut scenes and give it out for free and hope to be free of all responsibility.
I don't think they wil half-ass it. Too much at stake there, it would have been better to do nothing.
We can only hope, and I'm sorry. But I'm pessimistic about this ):

Dude I'm not lashing out at anyone. I'm just shocked to see people give chance after chance to people that abuse them. All the while saying " Can I have some more please, sir".

In my case its dudette, but personally I have avoided looking at anything other than these forums and fanmade reviews on YouTube. I could care less what some suit does or does not think of me. I don't read gaming reviews at all. I do not trust internet news at all. I like the feel of real press in my hands. That said, I have no idea other then what I have read on the forums and seen on YouTube what the rest of the internet is doing. Or saying. It means nothing to me.
All I care about is the game and now, oddly enough this community of fans.
I may well lose the game because BW dropes the ball again and I will then leave the forums.
Until then, I will wait and see.

Since when did Bioware abuse us ? Do you even have the slighest idea about abusing in General ?
Bioware sold us the game they wanted to make. They did.

Thanks for participating in this thread, it's good that you have a different stance on the Exended Cut that most of its participants, because it fuels a healthy discussion
You repeated the word abuse in all your posts. I feel this is exagerated for the Extended Cut.
The abuse is them not holding up to their promises in the current state ending, I'll give you that, based on how far it is from the press statements the team has made since a year prior to release.
However, if they stick with the current plot for the endings, nothing prevents them from actually holding up to their promises. Happy closures are possible within this ending, it's not because the Mass Relays are gone that the galactic civilisation is ended. They can show how they adapt and survive and rebuild a galactic community, free of Reaper influences.
They can also provide a good, satisfying outcome for the Normandy's crew. I felt the scene was designed to show that, yes, they survived, although it wasn't what most of us outrightly felt.

No problem. So tell me, is there anything you DID like about the ending? (we'll make it since, say, landing on Earth, but especially starkid and beyond)
To be perfectly honest, I felt very confused about the endings.
I did like wanting to pick synthesis first, in order to avoid destroying EDI and the Geth, then feeling outrightly compelled to go for the Destroy option when I reached the path. It was such a powerful feeling that I just couldn't remove my hand from the keyboard and kept shooting and shooting before the cutscene was triggered.
I liked choosing that, because it welt like I was flipping off the Reapers and the star brat.
I also liked the first part of the cutscene, showing the wave hit Earth and killing the Reapers. No joke, I actually stood up and raised my wireless mouse in the air a few splits of seconds before the soldiers are seen doing that in the cutscene.
I had a mild smile seeing Joker walk out of the ship, with my LI go out, but I was bitter by then.
I liked Shepard taking a breath.
Overall, I had a feeling of completion, but 30 seconds after the credits started to roll, I became self aware of all the flaws this ending had, and became puzzled, then bitter, then angry

Op, How are we going to work with them when they will not even discuss it with us.
Well, they did start a thread about Suggestions. And based on the mod activity on the forums, I'm pretty sure they are looking at it on a daily basis, and reporting with a high frequency as well.
Discussion on collaborative media like the forums isn't people sitting around a table and exchanging. It is an indirect form of communication.
Discussion in the case isn't co-creation either, it is providing them with strong insights as to what we would like to see.
