Many of you are referring to BioWare's announcement as an 'easy' way out for them, but when you look at the situation, it just wouldn't make sense for them to do that.
BioWare will want us to buy their future DLC and possibly future Mass Effect games. It's been made abundantly clear that Retakers will not buy either unless the ending is properly fixed. I believe that BioWare has some idea that Retakers represent the majority of players, even if they don't want to admit it. I've been playing a lot of multiplayer. I ask every group what their opinion of the ending is, and an overwhelming majority hated it. When I say overwhelming, I mean that the most positive response I got was, "It was okay..."
The alternative is that BioWare still looks at Retake as a minority. While that's certainly a possibility, I would think they would be smart enough to consider that perhaps Retake is bigger than it looks. I also ask each group if they're planning on buying DLC, both single and multiplayer. Again, I get a mostly negative response.
If fans remain disappointed, it's very possible that BioWare's DLC sales will tank. However, only time will tell.
It doesn't make sense for BioWare to take the easy way out
