I hope you read this. This is for you! This is NOT for the angry mob of
fans who are ready to stone and cane you! (Metaphorically speaking).
You keep saying things like: "BioWare strongly believes in the team's
artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise."
and "Though we remain committed and are proud of the artistic choices we
made in the main game."
The whole artistic integrity you so speak of is not there with the
ending I mean. You may think so but probably about 80% of your fan base
thinks otherwise. I will say this. My personal opinion on the matter is.
The game was great! The level of art design, character relationships,
overall mood and setting was awesome. The feel of it was outstanding.
The point I think all of you at Bioware or lead executives can't seem to
grasp is. The ending did not fit into the whole premise of the story
what so ever It was like having to make a real life choice rather than an
epic sci-fi ending. There was no climax. You built it up and the game
ended with more than10 minutes of dialogue.
It is almost like someone with a super logical and
intellectual stand point wrote it. Yes the game was very well done and
artistic as you always point out. But the only people criticizing the
ending are the fans. Trying to put in a few prologue cut scenes to
explain to those of us who aren't intellectual or logical enough to
understand, and in my opinion is one persons idea of the ending is kind
of insulting. I seriously believe lots of people at BioWare disagreed
with the turn of events of the ending we currently have. But we
understand the head honchos have the final say regardless!
The ending was way to intellectual. It is almost as if some professor
that was high on logic and had to do everything on an intellectual level
wrote the ending and expecting people to understand. Like trying to
tell a pure blood Vulcan that you need to have emotions and feel. Why
beat a dead horse?
By all means stick by what you believe. I understand you will defend
your teams work. All I have to say is, it better be better than any
super successful big budget movie or video game ever released. You will
have to out do everything Mass Effect 3's hype and reviews stand for.
Way I see it. The game overall was artistic and creative and well
thought out. The ending we currently have is not artistic by a long
shot. It made no sense. The choices you had were clear cut but all that
dialogue leading up to it and the seconds after made entirely no sense
and do not belong! Your definition of artistic integrity has no place in
this matter! The current ending regardless and most fans that do not
like the ending will agree it doesn't fit. I will probably download your
future extended download content for the game. All I have to say to
that is regardless of the path you take will either make or break you.
And it may not be the financial aspect of the business. It is the fans
that will make of break you. Persoanally I was kind of hoping for the
Indorctrination Theory. That would have been bad ass!
All I am saying is you better live up to your end! And in my honest
opinion you should let the ME universe die with Mass Effect 3. Go a
different direction and create something new. I think Mass Effect has run its course!
Personal Note to Mr. Casey Hudson! I hope you and the BioWare team know
what they are doing. I love the Mass Effect franchise and all the
enjoyment it has given me. Please, please do not ruin it! I still have
faith in you guys!
This in the most sincerest respects to all of you who put so much hard
work and effort with this franchise. Please take this as you like, I
pray you make the right choice! I just needed to getthis off my chest as
I have been wanting to say somthing for a while now, and didn't have the guts to say it sooner!
