Amen. I never realized how selfish/entitled the RME movement was until yesterday.
Yeah, man. Wanting what was promised. Those pesky consumers, eh?
What did they promise? enlighten me please
"I'm always leery of saying there are 'optimal'endings, because I thing one of the things we do try to do is
make different endings that are optimal for different people."
--Mac Walters (lead writer)
"There are many different endings. We wouldn't do it any other way. How could you go through all three campaigns playing as your Shepard and then be forced into a bespoke ending that everyone gets? But I can't say any more than that. . . "
--Mike Gamble (Associative Producer)
"Every decision you've made wil impact how things go.
The player's also the architect of what happens."
--Mike Gamble (Associative Producer)
"
You'll get answers to everything. That was one of the key things. Regardless of how we did everything, we had to say, yes, we're going to provide some answers t these people"
--Mike Gamble (Associative Producer)
"For people who are invested in these characters and the back-story of the universe and everything, all of these things come to a resolution in Mass Effect 3. And they are resolved in a way that's very different
based on what you would do in those situations."
--Casey Hudson (Director)
Probably most damning of all, particularlly regarding the argument of, "It's their product, and they can end it however they want to, everyone complaining should just suck it up."
Interviewer: "So are you guys the creators or stewards of the franchise?"
Hudson: "Umm. . . you know, at this point,
I think we're co-creators with the fans. We use a lot of feedback."
--Casey Hudson (Director)
The thread I got all the quotes from:
http://social.biowar...ndex/10204263/1 So, I didn't get an ending that was optimal for me, I wasn't able to do what I would do at the end, I received no answers, and I certainly did not feel like an architect or co-creator. What I felt like happened was they gave me a bucket of pre-selected Lego bricks, told me to build something with them, and then, after I was finished, took what I made back and rearranged it into something they wanted to make to begin with, and then proceed to get mad at my anger when they refuse to explain why I was told to make something at all.
And to make matters worse, now the people that are complaining about the people saying the ending was ******-poor are telling said people that they shouldn't feel like the architects or co-creators because it was Bioware's work of art to do with what they saw fit---which would be fine if they say fit to make a story without any in-game input from the player, but they didn't. They saw fit to hand the narrative for each player to tell, making them, instead, the creators of many
possible outcomes.
If you want to make something to present to me, fine. But don't tell me I'm the architect, give me a pen, and then substitute my blueprints for yours when building the ultimate structure. (which, going along with the horrendous implications of the ending, is then demolished. . . what the hell was the point at all?)
