Unable to authorize DLC and online pass UPDATE

Ok tried something out and seems that the activition part is broken. Just did a fresh reinstall of the orgin client and it updated the game were normally it was telling me it was up to date. After starting the game I get ask to enter the cerberus code for online access. Well when I click the redeem button I get a $ followed by 6 numbers and when I try to imput my product code it doesn't take it. Clicking the purchase button gives me an error saying I need to get an online pass.   PS just been reading of a patch here's hoping for a fix


Anyone have a work around for this. My game was working fine until i decided to do the weekend operation on MP. Now it  wont authorize the dlc and i cant get on to mp or access the galactic readiness. There is nothing i did wrong other then I used my bioware points to get better gear during the operation.

There's seems to be no workaround so far, and neither do EA nor Bioware respond to our complaints about it, which has gone so far back as early as 2 weeks ago.

Could you post some more information:

Are you having trouble authorizing content for Single Player?

Have you checked for updates to Mass Effect 3? Origin?

When you say you " decided to do the weekend operation on MP" do you mean you just played MP and promoted characters?

Have you contacted Origin Support regarding this? (It seems to be an account issue...)

Have you added an exception to your firewall to allow Origin and Mass Effect 3 to communicate with their servers from your computer?


Anything along these lines will most certainly help us out here.

Well ya, right when you get to the menu it tries to look for DLC then does it again then it pops up with the can't authorize DLC connect to alliance network yadayada. I'm on my third play through and haven't checked to see if I have all the DLC stuff or if jarvik is accessible

Yes it's all up to date

Yes the game was working fine DLC and online pass. Until I decided to participate in operation (raptor I think it was called) for a few hours. lvled one char and then used some points to get some better gear. After the operation was over bam the authorize problem started.

No I would like to keep most of my hair thank you very much

Same thing is happening to me for the past week. I own N7 PC Collectors edition, I launch the game and the main menu comes up it prompts me that it is communicating with EA servers, then a window comes up saying "Looking for downloadable content" then it goes away pauses for about 2 seconds the same "Looking for downloadable content" pops up again then immediately another window pops up saying That my Online pass and From Ashes DLC are unauthorized and that I need to purchase a new online pass. At the bottom right where is says purchase online pass when clicked gives me an error saying its not available to me since I do not have an online pass. I purchased the N7 collectors edition which came with a pass, it shows on my BSN account that it is in my registered content, I beat the game with Javik about 2 weeks ago.

I've talked to 6 different EA/Origins advisers and non of them have been able to fix my problem, one even wanted me to call the store I bought the game at to let them handle it even though my game has worked up until last week. I have updated my game, repaired the install, reinstalled origins and ME3, disabled my firewalls, deleted temp files, made sure I'm logging in with the same account that my registered content is attached to. I'm out of options and I can't load any saved games with Javik without going offline, and can't play multiplayer or even sync my ME3 Datapad readiness. Would be nice if I could play the game I spent $80 on.

This also happened to me yesterday. It is now asking me to purchase/redeem an online pass (which I already got since I got the game new with the N7 edition).

Edit: I am curious about one thing, did anyone else that this has happened to have the glitch where after promotion the multiplayer character still has all abilities and a negative amount of ability points to assign?  It happened with my turian sentinel and I'm curious if the issues might be related somehow...

I'm not sure, but I think this may be related to Operation: Raptor.  After that weekend, I had three characters promoted, but one of them glitched and went back to Level 1, but still had the same name and abilities of the Level 20 I just promoted (and something like -72 skill points to assign). 

Last time I played multiplayer was Tuesday or Wednesday and then yesterday the game is asking me to buy/redeem an online pass.

I have never played multiplayer, and didn't take part in Operation: Raptor. So not sure if they are related or not.

Hmm.. Well, at least that's one thing that can be checked off.  Just trying to think of anything that may have contributed.

I've had this problem all afternoon. I've finished the game twice with From Ashes - I have the digital deluxe edition so I've had it since day 1 - but today it says I can't play.

EA support were useless - said I needed to select the option to download and install the DLC - I don't get the option, it's already installed. I have had it installed for over a month! I've checked my router, firewall, all I can think of. I just can't play on either my PC or my laptop. Symptoms and attempted solutions similar to those described by jereck63.

Additional information - I just tried from my cell phone's wifi hotspot (totally different network connection) and STILL can't get in - same message about failed authorization :(

Case 03628751 with EA still open, will keep hitting them until they help. Any alternative advice gratefully received. This sounds like a central server issue to me.

Multiplayer sure is proving to be quite buggy... Another weird thing I noticed, is that when I get into single player, my readiness is stuck at 100%, despite my readiness in ME3 datapad showing a 98% readiness (and I can still access ME3 datapad from my phone as well, so it doesn't seem to be an Origin issue).

Just a bump. Updated first post and for reading about a patch. Here's hoping for a fix unless what updated today was it and it didn't do anything.

Help.EA.com is a joke, I repeatedly told them that my friend can log onto his account and play fine on the same computer I am having this error.

It took me about a week to convince the CS Rep. to bump my case to someone higher up and that can still take 1-2 weeks to fix. I suggest you do the same if this is your problem.

After todays patch the game now at least prompts me to redeem my online pass code or to buy an online pass, but won't accept my Code included with my N7 collectors edition because I have already entered it the first day I got it. I guess this is at least one step forward...

I'm about ready to take my physical copy and my ME hoodie out to the fire pit and just watching it burn. It's pretty obvious SWTOR is more important to them atm if they won't give us an official statement on why this is happening.

THat's funny, cause I canceled my SWTOR sub after the **** I've been through. I was looking forward to DA3, but now I don't think I'll buy it or anything else from EA.

This just happened to me as well. I had been playing fine up till the day before yesterday. Today I tried to play again and... nothing. Keeps asking me for an online pass despite the fact that I play on a PC and got the game from Origin (delux digital version).

This had happened to me before, but nothing that restarting origin didn't fix. This time, though, it just won't let me play. I'm hoping it's a temporal glitch but by what I'm seeing it might not be... O.o

I contacted EA...Via onlien chat....Apaprently they are aware of the issue and working to fix it so......its not you guys its EA again.

Same here, just talked to a EA rep (via chat) they know the issue. They said they do not know when it will be resolved.

Happened to me to. The reps on chat seem indistinguishable from VIs unfortunately. No ETA.
