Hm, intriguing. I wouldn't want to play her as my PC in DA3 because she's already got her appearance, class and gender pre-set for us.

"Over come her rage"

No. Please no.

Action looks solid though.

Sorry to say, but this is very old news. The film has been out in Japan since February and it's being released on Blu-Ray for 15 bucks in May with English dubs.

I just hope we get the original VA's.

Watched the premier @ Sakura-Con on Friday. The story was engaging and well done. The tone and theme fit with the rest of Dragon Age rather well. I like the glimpse into the Chantry/Templar politics and how the events in Kirkwall reverberate.

They were all talking English in the version shown at PAX East on Friday-- so I guess that's the case?

That's not what she meant. Lucy was referring to whether if Miranda Raison is playing Cassandra in the anime. Along with any other DA2 voice actors. I have my doubts, considering Miranda's name isn't even listed anywhere the movie is selling.

Cassandra is voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard in DotS. She uses a "french" accent but might not sound anything like Miranda Raison. I'm pretty disappointed. I guess Funimation did the casting.

If Cassandra returns in DA3 I hope they get Miranda again.

Oh, I see-- I misunderstood, and saw the following posts regarding English dubbing and followed that chain of thought.

No, I don't believe the English version of the movie uses Cassandra's VA from DA2. Could be wrong, though.

If Cassandra returned, the only reason we wouldn't use Miranda is if she were unavaiable and/or there were contract issues. Caroline (our VO director) prefers voice consistency whenever possible.

Anime is anime, and games are games, and I think about them differently. So even though an actor like Steve Blum (Oghren from DAO) has done both, and is awesome at both, I prefer to watch my anime in Japanese when I can. I'll add though that Cowboy Bebop (which Steve Blum was part of) marked a turning point in quality for English dubbing, and both of those versions are equally good.

Even if its based on a game you most likely played in English? That's the original. Changing the English actress is a problem, but hearing Cassandra in Japanese is worse.
Subbed anime is usually better than dubs, but not here. I'd love the original English actors in DotS, especially Miranda Raison. She IS Cassandra to my mind. I associate her voice with the character.

'tis a shame.

I plan on purchasing this. It looks like it could be very interesting and seeing more of the Seekers could be very fun. I'm also ready to watch it in both English and Japanese (the second mainly because it infuriates my younger brother). I'm glad they're trying to branch out, sure I would've liked for some more involvement from the DA writers, but I'm willing to ignore that aspect if the movie is fun.

I believe Mike said that the film's events would be canon, yet there seem to be some inconsisitencies. For example, the film follows Cassandra as quite a young woman (I believe) , so I'm guessing, 9:28 Dragon at the earliest? In which case, wouldn't Beatrix still be Divine and not Justinia, as the website states?

No, she probably just "looks" much younger than she seems in the game because of the animation style, though even so, we don't know how old she is in DA2 anyway her face is still quite youthful (not suggesting that really matters because everyone in DA looks very youthful), but it is suppose to take place in 9:34 after Justinia V becomes the divine and Act 2 in DA2. Read that somewhere, forget exactly where though.
