Question that I posed in a few other threads regarding the Seekers: Are they a group that consists solely of people that believe in the Maker? The codex we have on them isn't very clear on whether the Seekers only take believers in the religion, from how I view it. So official clarification -- if possible -- would be appreciated.

Reason I ask is because I'm currently engaged in a debate on the viability of the PC being a Seeker in DA3 whilst maintaining player agency enough that the player can declare their PC an atheist.

Regarding dubbed anime, I prefer that over the original Japanese VA'd anime. It's not impossible to find great dubbed anime. FMA: Brotherhood and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex -- both the 1st GIG and 2nd GIG -- have great dubbing.

I just hope we get the original VA's.

They were all talking English in the version shown at PAX East on Friday-- so I guess that's the case?

That's not what she meant. Lucy was referring to whether if Miranda Raison is playing Cassandra in the anime. Along with any other DA2 voice actors. I have my doubts, considering Miranda's name isn't even listed anywhere the movie is selling.

Cassandra is voiced by Colleen Clinkenbeard in DotS. She uses a "french" accent but might not sound anything like Miranda Raison. I'm pretty disappointed. I guess Funimation did the casting.

If Cassandra returns in DA3 I hope they get Miranda again.

Clinkenbeard is a good voice actor, so it's not going to be that bad for me... Unless she does her Luffy voice for Cassandra for some reason.

I'd say that a lot of the Chantry's clerics would be atheists, they're just in it for the power, pretending to worship Andraste and the Maker. However, actually protecting the faith in a military fashion and laying down your whole life to serve the Maker as the Seekers seem to do would take a lot of devotion to your deity IMO. So yes, I'd say it'd be highly unlikely you'd find an atheist Seeker.

29th May in theory... I'll be playing the next Atelier game released on the 25th so I doubt I will watch it right away.

Would the Blu ray be region free, as not all are?

That explains Cassandra's younger appearance. Also means there doesn't have to be any references to DA2.

Hmm, I dunno.  I get the impression that the Seekers are sort of like "Witch-hunters" rather than a fully fledged military force like the Templars.  Sure the Templars would have to be devoted to the Maker and they would probably look for strong religious faith in any recruits.  I also can't see the Priests themselves being atheists... they're the ones preaching the word of the Maker after all.  It's not like you could say that "alot of Catholic Priests would be atheists just in it for power" IRL... I'm sure there are some, but hardly a significant number of them.  Maybe at the high level there's alot more politics than religion amongst the Priesthood, but certainly not at the local levels.

The Seekers though seem to act more like internal "secret police" and, while it is probably the cliche, I'd imagine the Seekers would less about devoted service to the Maker and more about excersising their power to stamp out 'corruption' and 'blasphemy'.  Of course, whether or not their allegations of corruption and blasphemy are legitimate might be another thing...

I agree. Although the trailer is kept in fairly depressing atmosphere. But that's okay. Because the world is not at all beautiful and colorful. Dragon Age is a dark universe.

And finally we hear other voices than Cassandra and Byron.

Funimation Entertainment released another trailer of Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker, and first 5 minutes film. You can see a new scenes. It very interesting.

Good Lord this looks truly terrible. I just hope they retcon it to make it non-canon. I foresee a barrage of animosity towards this film.

No ones actually bothered to sub it which kind of tells me all I need to know how people generally felt about the release.

Weird mix of CG and cell shading it's just odd.

Not in our time, since Christianity doesn't have a great deal of political power anymore, but that certainly would have been the case for many priests in the Middle Ages (the time which DA is based on). I think the majority of the clergy would have sincere faith, but I also think there would be a hell of a lot in it for the power. Also, in regard to there being more politics in the upper echelons, remember that one wouldn't enter the Chantry and immediately become a Grand Cleric. Every woman starts as an initiate.

Chantry issued mini skirts. May the Maker watch over the camera angles.

Voice acting sounds pretty good though.

I'll have to admit, the new trailers do make it look a lot better than I had feared from the first shots. Interesting effects there. Also, nice music and good choice of voice actors.

Can't wait for the release. :)

Dubbing a movie is actually way more expensive than subbing. Also, the DVD does come with optional English subtitles for those who prefer a sub version of the movie.
