I most likely would've translated DotS myself if I didn't know an English version was coming within months. No reason to fansub it then considering the point is moot. It's quite different from, say, the latest anime tie-in I subbed since there's never been any mention of an English release of it even years after it came out in Japan (which is pretty funny in that case considering I know for a fact English subs and a dub were made, it's just never been sold for whatever reason xD).BobSmith101 wrote...
No ones actually bothered to sub it which kind of tells me all I need to know how people generally felt about the release.
Not to mention most within the fansub scene do not know of anything that they cannot find by running tv tokyo's website through google translate. Mind you, most of them who do read the site like that know about tons more shows than I do, so I do not mean to put myself on a pedestal here =) My point is simply that I doubt DotS is advertised on there, hence very few within the scene would even know about it.
And within those few who know about it, you'd have to find someone who feels strongly enough about the project to bother trying to whip lazy bums into action - action to sub something that is coming out in English in just a little while any way. Good luck with that whipping, it's usually difficult enough already when all you have to do is tell people to give up their free time for your pet project. It's astronomically harder when they know there's an official release coming out which renders their hard work moot
My two cents as a fansub translator of 9 years.

I for one can't wait to see it, and I appreciate the effort from those that made this possible.
You know, it's one thing to bash DA2 (Bioware & EA deserve that) but to carry on the hate to anything Dragon Age related because of that it's more than stupid. I really don't get those butthurt people that do this.

I don't get why people dislike this? It's something that adds to the Dragon Age universe, something that we all love. I mean, it would be ok to watch it and then say you don't like it, but from a minute and a half trailer to instantly recognize that it's bad, it's ridiculous.

Don't like the style. I'll probably watch it, but I won't be going out of my way to watch it.
Japanese studios doing western themes is also a very hit and miss thing. Latest iteration of Marvel done by Japanese studios being a case in point. Those were a very mixed bag.

I respect your answer. The thing is that when people say "I ain't watchin' this" after only couple of minutes of trailer or just because they are angry at EA/Bioware for DA2. Granted, DA2 was a bit of a dissapointment but if we continue with that attitude, they will cancel this franchise altogether.
We should be critical and ask for more and better, but at the same time to not expect too much and by that setting ourselves for dissapointment.

That's not what she meant. Lucy was referring to whether if Miranda Raison is playing Cassandra in the anime. Along with any other DA2 voice actors. I have my doubts, considering Miranda's name isn't even listed anywhere the movie is selling.
Oh, I see-- I misunderstood, and saw the following posts regarding English dubbing and followed that chain of thought.
No, I don't believe the English version of the movie uses Cassandra's VA from DA2. Could be wrong, though.Topsider wrote...
If Cassandra returns in DA3 I hope they get Miranda again.
If Cassandra returned, the only reason we wouldn't use Miranda is if she were unavaiable and/or there were contract issues. Caroline (our VO director) prefers voice consistency whenever possible.
Interesting...
You had Greg Ellis voice Anders in Awakening, but he did not repeat this role in DA2. Even though you had him available and had him do other roles.

His availability was apparently limited — he had the time to do a few lines for Cullen, but not enough for Anders.

The Dawn of the Seeker has several "extras" including the Dark Horse comic series (clincher for me since I did not buy that yet).

I will say that I still like Cassandra, despite the fact that she's all "Problems? Let me stab them."
I kept thinking of Advent Children. Not sure if it's dumber than Advent Children though - that's a tough nut to crack. Still worth seeing, all in all.

I'm ok with it in this case, I largely preferred Adam to Greg for Anders. The way Adam delivered his lines with more passion than anything I've heard Greg do, and really Greg uses his Anders voice everywhere, it gets very old. Even the battle cries that carried over from Awakening sound better with Adam's voice. However, I would prefer Miranda to return as Cassandra.thats1evildude wrote...
