DA2 and tOR are pretty bad games. Well I don't know for DA2 actually, just quoting the general opinion, but tOR is a real piece of disappointing crap.

However ME3 is excellent. People are getting mad about 5 minutes in a 3x50hours gaming experience, and all of a sudden, the whole ME franchise is "dead" and Bioware should "die". This reaction is so beyond any sort of common sense and so far in the WTF galaxy that it doesn't even deserves to talk about it.

If you really want to focus your attention and your efforts on bringing down a gaming compagny, please have a look at Blizzard instead ; they got a better history of mocking their players and not giving a crap since the end of Burning Crusade : LK, Starcraft 2, Cataclysm, soon D3 which spits on its legacy, and Mists of Pandaria... And those games do not suck because they have a "bad ending", they just suck from start to finish.

Granted, those aren't bioware games and ranting about Blizzard here is not the most appropriate, but I feel such an injustice toward Bioware that I had to speak my mind.

Personally, I'll only worry if people start ignoring Bioware instead of hating them.

A lot of people said their goodbyes over the last month. Check out the DLC stickies for plenty of examples since yesterday. There are even threads about it. Not a good sign, right? Or do you think it's all bluster?

Yes I have said I wanted BioWare to die, but I also said that they should reform and make a new company.

Of course, there's these tricky little things called non-compete contracts, which most multinational corporations make their subsidiaries sign before swallowing them up.

I'd much rather stomach a bad ending or two than lose the creative efforts of BioWare's brain trust for 2 or 3 years (or whatever the term of the NC contract is for)

Personally I feel that BioWare should go out of business, because you know why?,

Because the BioWare employees could regroup together and form a new company, where they would develop a new game series which makes up for the mistakes which they have made and that video game will be the best thing since mass effect with a good ending to boot.

And the best thing about it?, is that BioWare will be independant from EA, which means that the "New BioWare" can put the time and effort that they done before being bought by EA.

The story writer and the music writer of Square Enix also left off to make their own company Mistwalker, for example.
It could work.

as an aside... I know a lot of people dislike EA...

that said it doesn't mean having a corporate backer is always bad. I mean some of my favorite games are published by EA and a lot of them are GOOD. True a lot aren't but a lot are too.

So I cant hate on EA too much, I find too much enjoyment with their products. Same goes for Bioware, EA or not, they've released a lot of games I enjoy so I can't wish on them to break apart and maybe go their own way. I think their fine "now" So i'm personally not worried about their future.

This is one of those grass is greener kind of things I reckon. In that case one could always say that x company will be better if they do y. Doesnt ALWAYS ring true though.

It kinda sucks when you're purchased by a corporation and that corporation's stock price tumbles about 70%. The people that received stock or stock options as compensation are not happy campers.

It also kinda sucks when the same corporation is voted the worst in America.

Speaking of Mistwalker, I've heard that Lost Odyssey is a pretty good game.

Is that Yes they would be willing to mess up a franchise?

Or is it No they wouldn't be willing to mess up a franchise?

-Bioware did. So I do not see why not. Bioware is still the sum of its workers.

And also the "New BioWare" can easily get rid of their "Old BioWare" reputation by making a good franchise with a good ending

-LOL, no. You have no idea about business. If you get a rep working for some company that rips off or decieves its client base, that rubs off. The hardest thing to get in a business is a "Bankable" one. Its also the easiest to  loose. Its the reason why some businesses go to such extreme lenghts to keep client-loyalty.

True, I have no idea about business but it is possible for a company to regain it's reputation, I mean look back when Coca-Cola made "New coke" which changed the recipe and it caused one hell of a ****-storm because many people said that it didn't as good as old coke, and then they changed the recipe back to it's original, thus restoring their reputation.

So you're trying to tell me it would be great for BioWare if BioWare folded?

Did I just take a tumble through the rabbit hole?

Like I said, it's my opinion, you can disagree with it if you want, but don't even think about flaming me for having an opinion

It'd be more plausible for a group of employees to break off and form their own company to publish/develop games. Not unlike Todd McFarlane and Mark Silversti and others leaving MArvel and forming IMage comics.

-Really? Was the reputation of "Coke" restored? It took a hit, one that it took millions of dollers in advertizing to fix. Its a mistake they didnt make twice, so at least they learned. Bioware doesnt seem to have that capacity.

It's an extreme way to escape EA. But a lot of key Bioware personel are gone anyway and the following games have really suffered for it.

DA - Brent leaves - we get DA2.
ME - Drew leaves -we get ME3.

This. Drew Karpyshyn leaving BW is the worst thing that could happen to BW. I really wonder why he left. Maybe he didn't like how people wanted to handle the ME-franchise.

Having an opinion doesn't make you immune to criticism. And not all opinions are equal. Sometimes you're just wrong.

I'm with LG on this one. It's ridiculous to think that all of Bioware's talent could up and quit, then make a masterpiece with all the funding that they no longer have.

Honestly? I think the backlash against DA2 and ME3 - regardless of how you feel about those games - have put them on notice anyway. I think EA might end up treating Bioware like Activision treats Blizzard - they'll actually give them time to work.

Could be. That was the reason Brent gave in his blog (regarding DA).
