The ending debacle continues to rage on. We've heard stories about death threats, fans claming depression and so on. People need to realise that in the scope of the world, a bad video game ending is like a drop in the ocean.

I noticed that there is thread on this board where people have said that they are prepared to sue Bioware over their false promises and false advertising. Someone went as far to say that they have already had a lawyer in New Zealand look over the case. Lets not even mention the cakes yet.

I am here to argue that people on this board need to desperately move on with their lives or more specifically realise how trivial pursuing this is when we consider some of the problems being faced in the greater scheme of the world.

Just consider for a moment what real suffering and what real world problems are:

I present to you Haiti:

http://www.smh.com.a...0404-1wd2c.html

"In the 17 months since Pelette was buried, cholera has killed more than 7050 Haitians and sickened more than 531,000, or 5 per cent of the population".

While you are willing to spend your time and money to try and change a video game, after the developer has already said they're not going to change it, people in the (real) world don't even have clean drinking water.

Another quote from the article:

"He knew the river water was probably not safe, he said, but, while they brushed their teeth in it, they did not swallow. For drinking water, Louis said, his family relies on a local well. But he lives from hand to mouth and cannot afford water purification tablets. So he gambles".

Consider that while you and your lawyer sit down for a discussion about Shephard there are people in Europe who are unemployed at staggering new figures:

"
Spain, whose government announced another raft of austerity measures last Friday, had the highest unemployment rate in the eurozone of 23.6 per cent, with youth unemployment - those under 25 years of age - standing at 50.5 per cent"

http://www.heraldsun...o-1226317326819

Its time for Bioware fans to look outside the bubble and realise that there are more important things going on in the world. Yes you might have spent many hours on this game but that was your choice. There are greater problems in the world that we can spend our time, attention and resources on than a crappy video game ending. Bioware fans I call on you to lay down your arms and have some empathy for the people who are truly suffering!

I would make a post titled " Why people who think people that hate the endings should get over should get over it" but that logic sounds to much like the endings....

I'd love to hear an explanation of that - if it was a serious topic.

Sorry, I don't buy "it could be worse" arguments.

"OH GOD I JUST BROKE MY DAMN FEMUR!!"
"IT COULD BE WORSE!!"

Does that help in the slightest? No. Not at all.

Yep, that is very true.
It helps exactly as much as name-calling, demanding, whining, hating and swearing does.

The only thing the anti-ending crowd (as a group not specifically some individuals within that group who are nice enough reasonable people) are doing at this stage is annoying the other fans who are sick and tired of their constant whining and moaning. Even if they had a legitimate issue at the start, they got an answer and plan of action from Bioware. At this stage all their going to get as time progresses is more and more aggression towards them from other fans if they don't get it a rest.

Say you bought a new car. They gave you a car without breaks. When you complain you are called whiney and childish for feeling "entitled". The car company finally agrees to give you a gearbox that allows you to engine break a little more efficiently. If you are unhappy with this solution then you are obviously not considering the fact that some people in this world are starving while you actually have a car.

I think bioware should thank the vocal crowd... most people who don't like a product say nothing and stop buying from them. Which obviously would be soooo much better.

Who says we don't realise this?  I know good and well that this is insignifigant compared to real issues.  That's why I'm studying to be a Social Worker.  That doesn't mean I cant protest Bioware's actions as well.

Complaining about the endings and being involved in truely important social crisis are not mutually exclusive.

I'm sorry, I do not care about those people. I do care that the product I purchased actually works as described.

No they should not, the reality is due to the constant insults, threats and aggression many of the developers avoid these forums now. Some have even recently said they are tired of the hostility towards them and cutting back on coming here. They are not paid to be here (with exception of Chris I believe maybe), they come here of their own choice and many times it is out of work hours not part of their jobs. They are paid to create content not be some idiotic fans target for hissy fits.

WOW, apparently, because we complain on forums, are ready to take legal action to get the product we paid for, we have no life? We are selfish bastards who only care about themselves? We don't give a damn about world hunger, suffering, poverty etc? You don't know me, you don't know what i do when i'm not on these forums, you don't know anything about me. You don't know which organizations i support through charity donations etc. Get off that high horse and stop with these silly generalizations, it only makes you look bad.

Spending all day and night whining about a product and making legal threats is what makes you look bad, not the other way around. Keep it up, not only have you turned most media sources against you due to your actions, and many gamers outside these forums but your also beginning to turn many of us here against you because your taking it too far.

No. If people are still dissatisfied then they should voice out their dissatisfaction. It is well within their right as consumers and frankly telling people to shut up or be quiet is just wrong.

There you go again with these wild generalizations. I don't spend all day and night on these forums, neither have i threatened legal action. But those who do have a right to do so. Like it or not, this what these forums are for, to voice our opinions, don't like? Leave.

You'd rather all the people dissatisfied with biowares product not say anything and just stop buying it. YEP that will help bioware a TON

I think I'll be here long after those who hate the ending, hate Bioware and hate their products go thanks because I still like their products.

I would not compair it with that. I would compair it with : if you bought a car that gave you heck of a ride for 95% of the time and the last 5% of the time you had it you thought it was crap, will you rage at the constructor or be thankful of the 95% of the time you had a huge smile on your face when driving it?

That doesn't give you the right to dictate what people on this board talk about or not. It also doesn't give you the right to throw around with wild accusations and insults against single communitymembers because of the behaviour of people that are not even present here right now.

Again, I claify my reasons for removing my support of Bioware here, in hope they will learn the lesson and change their policies.

There is nothing to 'get over'. This debacle is a stern disagreement and separation between consumer and company. BioWare has taken their stance, and will have to deal with the consequences of this. This means upset customers, refunds, and a strike on their reputation that will follow them as the months and years come.

You may not like this, but this is the facts and how they stand. I work in customer service every day, and I know how it feels taking the direct heat from bad company decisions. But that does not mean the customer's opinion is suddenly wrong because I don't like how they behave.

Well, good for you! I don't like what they did wih DA2 and i certainly don't like what they did with the ending to ME3. I'll be here until the ME3 issue is resolved and will continue to voice my opinion as best i can without resorting to  name calling, death threats and wild generalizations tyvm :)

A car without brakes can kill you and others. A bad video game ending cannot.
