The only thing I really wanted to say was that after seeing the discussion with the Rachni about the 'songs of oily shadows bit' it became pretty clear the Reaper indoctrination signal basically launched them into war with the known races kicking off the whole Krogan rebellion and genophage. This is decades before the games of ME3.
Personally after playing ME1 I'm down with IT more than ever. Nothing BioWare has said so far has discounted this to date and it still is the best explanation. Seriously, the whole damn game is a. discovering the reapers and everything about them and b. fighting indoctrinated forces that 1. claimed they weren't indocrtinated 2. were indoctrinated pretty damn easy.
Really its all there. I'll come back and eat my words in August when this is all said and done if necessary but I don't think I will be. If the story is about Shepards battle with the Reapers, destroying their most effective weapon, indoctrination, would be the most compelling aspect of all of this.
