I never posted anything bad about Bioware or Hudson.  Or made a huge rant or anything like that. So chill out.

Why?!
He and Walters f*cked it up in the first place!

And this "fix" is doubtful to fix anything.

For the reasons many have noted.. NO. As an adult, the least he could've done was to just confess that he either lied, something happened to screw up the intent of having multiple endings, or there's something else in the works. Any of that would've gone a long way towards rebuilding confidence. None of that happened, so again.. NO.

I'm not and yet I am a little.

I'm not sorry because the ending did in fact ruined my enjoyment of the entire trilogy (and gaming in general still doesn't feel right as before) and he was in charge of the project.
I am a little sorry because he was in charge of the project and he gave us 2,9 amazing games. I just wish the amazing games were 3 :/

Yes. He is the prime reason people love this series. Yet he makes one mistake and suddenly people are demanding his head. There wouldn't be ME most of what fans love it for without him.

Drew Karpyshyn's writing is why Mass Effect was great, but Bioware moved him over to SW:TOR.  Drew's "replacement" could not have failed worse.  Casey Hudson let this happen.

Lord no. Repeatedly lie to the fans before the game ships, try and downplay the fans reactions after? I'm sorry but people reap what they sow.

Since when is constant lying considered as a "mistake"?

I feel bad for the entire ME3 team, I'm positive no one woke up one morning and said, "You know, we should really screw over our fanbase by burning the trilogy and all it stands for at the end!"

I'm positive that they thought they were doing the right thing by us, and failed spectacularly in delivery.

That said, they are working to correct it and even that is thankless.

So yeah, I feel sorry for him.

I do feel a little sorry for him, yes. Maybe he played a big part in screwing up the ending, maybe he didn't. Either way, it doesn't justify the outright hatred everyone seems to feel towards him right now. Picking apart everything he ever said before the game came out as though every sentence is some kind of unbreakable contract. Did he misrepresent how the game would end? Yes. Does that make him an evil human being who lies to and screws with his company's fans just for fun? No.

And besides, none of us know what really happened at Bioware/EA--how this ending came to be, who exactly is responsible, etc. All we have are a lot of contradictory speculations based on twitter posts and so forth. Blaming one or two people from the outside like this, when we have no way of knowing how responsible they are, is pretty shortsighted.

These two posts almost perfectly summarize how I feel, so I'll just quote them.

He lied, so not really. I'll regain my respect when he puts on his big boy pants and answers our questions, one by one.

But his game is just soooo hyper awesome!!! It won 10000000000000000+ awards from totally not biased sources and it's art and stuff and everyone should be totally proud of BIOWARE and the team because they did such an outstanding job totally not ruining an entire franchise by rushing a game, alienating the playerbase with the DLC From A$he$ watergate and the incredibly retarded ending!!!! I'm super cereal!!!

It's totally unfair that the vast majority of the ME3 players aka "the vocal minority" is upset with their oh so awesome game, so let's all be sorry for poor Casey because he totally doesn't deserve people throwing virtual vegetables at him in the forums.

*snip*

He needs our moral and emotional support, not our scorn!

Respect is earned not implied.

The fact stands people are hurt by the lies but hey people lie. What I see as the real problem is a lack of accountability on their part to admit the game was rushed or we were promised things that couldn't/wouldn't be done. Instead we get the "you don't get it because its so deep and artistic.' Specualtion from everyone will be the epitath on their grave if it comes down to it.  Yes the team worked hard. Yes for the most part the game was solid.

We're getting epilogue dlc BUT they won't discuss it at PAX? yeah its just one slap in the face followed by the middle finger after another to its most loyal fans of all things. Loyalty in the gaming industry is a topic for another day but I'm not some mindless zombie that's just going to buy your product out of habit and neither are the most of us.

You can feel sorry that he's getting scorned but the fact that he is does have some weight. Sure some people will resort to name calling and other immature things. The rest of us are critcizing which is a completely different thing.

He just stated the truth. Hows that hatred? The correct term is "anger" which he has all right to express.

Not all ME fans are mature and certainly there has been some hyperbole reactions to the ME3 ending, temper tantrums, etc. which doesn't reflect well on ME fans on a whole. So yeah, sorry he had to endure that. I'd rather a more rational, intelligent and articulate discourse.

Personally I'd like to find out what really happened in regards to writing the trilogy's ending. BioWare had the time and the money (remember they delayed the release to make sure the game would live up to fan's expectations?) to do ME3 right. Though there have been moments of suspended logic throughout the series, non of which is of the degree the ME3 ending exhibited. For that matter I'd like to know how on Earth the Diane Allers character ever came to be as acceptable inclusion in the series finale. Was it EA's influence?

Richard Garriot, I felt sorry for. Will Wright, I felt sorry for. Casey Hudson, not so much. Wright and Garriot watched EA take their companies apart, (Maxis and Origin Systems respectively) piece by piece. They were powerless to do anything as EA ruined their franchises. Bioware is going the same route, and Casey does nothing but defend his masters and sit back and watch as EA does the same to them. Sorry for him, not one bit. He's a turncoat, another corporate shill sucking up to the stockholders. Let Bioware die. It's obvious they don't give a damn about their customers anymore, and most of their good people have already seen this and left long ago. All they have left are the corporate yes men, pandering to EA's every whim.

You mean this 'Casey Hudson':

“There is a huge set of consequences that start stacking up as you approach the end-game. And
even in terms of the ending itself, it continues to break down to
some very large decisions. So it's not like a classic game ending
where everything is linear and you make a choice between a few things
- it really does layer in many, many different choices, up to the
final moments, where it's going to be different for everyone who
plays it.”

Um, no.

I actually feel sorry for him, but not for the reasons you described. I'm sorry that he lost his passion for this series somewhere along the way. I'm sorry that hubris got in the way on the last straight, because he was doing such brilliant job up until that point. I'm sorry he's not able to speak his mind right now - I imagine he would like to be able to do that, whether to explain things, to argue with our reasons or to genuinely acknowledge the mistakes. I know it's not always possible in a corporate environment.

But one thing I'm not sorry about is that he got called out for betraying the trust of core fanbase, and for advertising the perfect ending up until the very end, and providing anything but. There's always room to mend the wounds, and I hope he'll make the right call before this is all over. I don't hate him, and I imagine that very few people genuinely do, but - as far as the fan backlash goes - it's well deserved.

Lead writer and the main Producer, especially one with as much involvement as Casey has, are two different things. ME franchise is primarly Casey's baby. Hard work from the entire team and what not, but he leads the project, the vision, direction etc. He provides tons of ideas, input and approves various ideas from different departements. I know it doesn't suit your opinion, but that's just the fact. If you would ask anyone from Bioware who's the #1 father of ME, they would all say Casey.

We do not know who made the decision to have the current ending, so a lot of hate is probably misplaced. However I don't believe that someone can screw up so badly and still do not understand it. Bioware's denial of the fact just adds insult to injury, so I don't feel sorry for anyone on the team.
