But he really just sat in his ivory tower, pondering on how we pitiful peasants could possibly dislike the genius of his chosen ending, cheefully ignoring both lengthy reviews and his very own promises made as recently as a week(!) before release.
He must have been well aware that he was telling lies in order to promote his game. I can't forgive someone who acted willingly and refused to apologize.
I feel sorry for the team that had no part in this travesty, but will most likely feel the heat as well

seeing that he has never lied (and fans read things that weren't actually stated) I feel that he had not deserved anything including the DEATH THREATS from so called fans.
Can you document this? I have seen no reports int he news about anything along these lines.
And frankly, that's a specious argument anyway. Anyone who makes death threats about a game is clearly unhinged, needs help and does not represent the rest of us.

He and Bioware have worked so hard to appease angry fans with the ending. He even went so far as to make the clarification DLC free but now everyone is being so mean to him. It must feel so terrible to have your fans turn their backs on you even though you try so hard to win back their support.
He was a liar who put his own vision ahead of the stone-set fan expectations. I feel nothing but woe for him. His name on anything in the future makes it a not-buy for me.

go to facebook, tHESE forums, twitter and search his name, bioware, all the magazine articles that allow comments etc.
You'll find them.

So no, I don't feel sorry for him. And if some day I do I'll just have to watch the ending(s?) again to renovate my rage.

This clarification should have been in the game in the first place.
Alright but it wasn't, ok! People make mistakes! Casey Hudson is living up to it by giving us a free ending DLC so we should stop being so mean to him, forgive him and move on!
Besides, he was rushed thanks to EA's unreasonable deadlines so it's not his fault. He was probably working 80 hours a week so show some sympathy!
To be clear, we have nothing yet but more cryptic, self-serving tweets and press releases. For the record veggiesofmanycolors, holding someone accountable for what they repeadly promised then failed to produce is not "mean", its accountability. Now name calling is uncalled for.
As ShadowJ20 said in the quote above, "clarification" should not be necessary. Someone should not have to scour the internet to explain the ending.
I'm quite sure EA does not have the Mass Effect development team burried in a sweat shop in the garment district of Edmonton. I am sure Mr. Hudson has done quite well financially. Besides, he is a big boy. He should be able to face his critics.

He lied to us.
And I don't mean accidental lies.
He repeatedly lied.
He didn't even think of this ending himself. He copied it from other sources/games.
1000x this
so um yea no not in the slightest
i think if Bioware was smart Mr. Hudson would be looking for another job right not
i know i was running bioware he would be
if he turned this in for a class assingment he would be lucky to get a C at even a highschool level
how bioware can let him hide behind 'its art' i dont know but im can only hope they keep him on a short leash from now on

I can feel sorry about the frustration being caused, but the actual man, he's got enough people worrying about him that he doesn't need the random fan trying to hand hold him.

I actually feel sorry for him, but not for the reasons you described. I'm sorry that he lost his passion for this series somewhere along the way. I'm sorry that hubris got in the way on the last straight, because he was doing such brilliant job up until that point. I'm sorry he's not able to speak his mind right now - I imagine he would like to be able to do that, whether to explain things, to argue with our reasons or to genuinely acknowledge the mistakes. I know it's not always possible in a corporate environment.
But one thing I'm not sorry about is that he got called out for betraying the trust of core fanbase, and for advertising the perfect ending up until the very end, and providing anything but. There's always room to mend the wounds, and I hope he'll make the right call before this is all over. I don't hate him, and I imagine that very few people genuinely do, but - as far as the fan backlash goes - it's well deserved.
Pretty much this. The flaws can be fixed - I honestly believe that. I'd want to hear him say what he feels, explain his choices, rant, rave, whichever... as long as it's not the bs pr speak we've been getting. Address the lies honestly. Fix the flaws and start to get the respect back. You don't make a 95% great piece of work if you're useless. The ending/s were badly thought out and implemented, the marketing was bs. These things can be fixed though. If he or others in the same position in future make the same mistakes and lies then they really do have it coming though.

All along BW has had choices and they keep on choosing the one that keeps the heat on them.
As anyone of character will tell you if you make a choice then you also choose to take whatever heat is the result of the choice.
At least I can respect that they're mostly sticking to their guns [as much as I hate it I can respect it somewhat]

He just stated the truth. Hows that hatred? The correct term is "anger" which he has all right to express.
Then I am afraid you mash the terms anger, frustration, hatred etc... and the variety of scales of human emotions incorrectly.
Most of us are angry because of false promises. Most of us are frustrated because we are completely ignored how the ending is completely unfitting for the ME franchise and how they lied to us.
Thats far from "hatred".

Not all ME fans are mature and certainly there has been some hyperbole reactions to the ME3 ending, temper tantrums, etc. which doesn't reflect well on ME fans on a whole. So yeah, sorry he had to endure that. I'd rather a more rational, intelligent and articulate discourse.
Personally I'd like to find out what really happened in regards to writing the trilogy's ending. BioWare had the time and the money (remember they delayed the release to make sure the game would live up to fan's expectations?) to do ME3 right. Though there have been moments of suspended logic throughout the series, non of which is of the degree the ME3 ending exhibited. For that matter I'd like to know how on Earth the Diane Allers character ever came to be as acceptable inclusion in the series finale. Was it EA's influence?
Of course it was IGN was like "Here's a huge wad of cash to include Jessica Chobot's image" and EA was like "OK" or it was "we'll include Jessica Chobot's image if you guarantee us a good review, despite the suck ending" and IGN was like "OK".

I feel sorry for him that he's so wrapped up in his lofty opinion of his own "artistic talents" that he fails to see a train wreck until it hits him.
