Is it weird that I rarely tell people my real name? I only use it for official purposes. As far as the name I give people goes, it depends on the situation. When complete strangers come asking my name without even a proper introduction I tell them something off the top of my head. Yet somehow they all accept it without question.

This is not what this topic is about though. I'm talking about the off-chance of you having to use your real first name for either business or school purposes and some jerk-off having the audacity to tell you to your face, that your first name doesn't suit you.
Anyway, the only reason why I said my real first name is because my real first name is so God damn common that it doesn't even matter.

People usually don't question my name, but one professor recently told me when I introduced myself that since I was "taller than him" he couldn't call me my name and take it seriously. (my name's Bobby) I don't know wtf that's supposed to mean but I was slightly offended and gave him a dirty look. He still calls me "Bob" but that's okay, there are so many variations of my name I'm used to people using all of them and respond to whatever. (Robert, Bob, Bobby. There's also Robby or Rob but I never get called those.)

This happens to me, I confuse people with others all the time. In one of my circles there are at least 4 different Laurent's (common French name) it's the equivalent of Larry. And there are 3 Damien's. I assume lots of guys are called either Laurent or Damien unless they look non-Caucasian.
