It was always supposed to be free, even before release.

Have you ever played on the iOS or facebook? free to play, in game money transactions are the now. Even Diablo 3 will have an auction house. Would you rather have games cost more at launch or have the option to buy what you want in packs? The Angry One wrote...

Well done, but those people weren't FORCED to buy those packs. They bought something and got less than what they wanted. Sound familiar? Caveat Emptor, I say.
Did I ever said they were forced?
I said that BioWare is setting up a business that revolves around these kind of transactions. If only 1 out of 20 people spend money on packs, they will rake in the cash, and future games will be built around this kind of thing.

It's not going to work, but it's a decent effort nonetheless. I don't think anything short of being dipped head-first in a bucket of thorazine will calm down the angry fans at this point.

Multiplayer games can do what they want.
Last I checked, BioWare is not a multiplayer development house, and if you're not concerned about them becoming one (EA go where the money is) well, good for you.

Just because they dabbled in MP for ME3, doesn't mean that they're becoming a MP development house. And if they do? It adds the ability to replay. ME3 had a strong story and the MP was an added bonus.
Quit being so damn negative.

Bioware created NWN remember? it had a huge MP aspect. Bioware also has an MMO now. they have a RTS coming soon which is heavy on online like all RTS usually are. ME3 now has online. Online is kind of the future. Almost every genre these days have online features to prevent people from selling their games.

BW used to make some pretty damn good MP games, BG 1/2, NWN, it stopped when they jumped to consoles. Definitly would not mind a return to that type of game. Though they probably won't unless its an MMO.

Last I checked, BioWare has had multiplayer in their games for quite a long time. Not all of them, mind you, but a few. I also recall them recently releasing an MMO.

Reaching, much? They're not afraid of a few thousand fans when they have a multi-million fan fanbase.
Keep trying, though.

Really, if anything, they've moved -away- from multiplayer. NwN had multiplayer. It was buggy, but was fun if you found the right server. It was definately a game that had lasting power from the multiplayer, and mod tools. The Angry One wrote...

Really though, I wouldn't mind if Bioware devoted some time to making standalone multiplayer games similar to TF2, but it should be left out of existing IPs, mainly Mass Effect and Dragon Age. There should either be standalone Bioware multiplayer games, or single player games. They shouldn't be mixed, and the results of the single player sure as hell shouldn't be tied to the multiplayer. That was heinous.

Too bad I can't play it without an XBL pass. It would have been nice if they did what Gears of War did, allow you to play solo in a private match to get around not having Xbox Live.
Blame Microsoft for that, not Bioware.
