I just checked with the up to date steam version and there was no "x tactic slots available" message for me

 I believe that was considered an exploit and was patched out at one point.  I havn't played DAO in a few months though, so maybe I'm thinking of something else.

There's plenty of those types of mods in the Bioware projects section and on the Dragon Age Nexus many Ranger and Shapeshifting fixes already have the summons between sections fix hardcoded into the mod as an extra feature.

Thanks. I went to Dennis Lee's Combat Tweaks mod and downloaded the 'Pet Persists Through Area Load' file but I'm not sure if it only applies to Ranger pets.

It seems you don't get any xp for the monsters that your undead minion kills - that's annoying. Still - a fun spell.
