Oooh boy, if aliens found us they would either kill us right now because of our views, or hate us so much that they just ignored us.

With as many theories as there are theorists, that's only going to go exponential, as times goes on.

There is no proof currently about ET life, however, to be of the narrow-mindset that we are either superior or inferior to said 'lifeforms' is just as detrimental as saying NO life exists out there.

Our species evolved along certain pathways that we have only just now started to comprehend.

Yes I have zero proof, that life exists "out-there", but with every theory Pro or Con, puts one more zero to the ever growing string of possibilities.

If you want to go slow I guess that is true, however they would decrease travel time by an amazing ammount.  The current "plan" is to use a starship which is powered by a nuclear reactor, and the core would eject upon arriving at mars out into space, but they can only eject in a small area so the core does not end up back on earth apparently, the antimatter solution is 1.) Possible and 2.) Safer

An antimatter engine is completely implausible.

The greatest problem with it is that with out current technology it would cost about 25 billion dollars to make one gram of antimatter, and it would take about a million years.

Just as they tought the Earth was flat.... That was so dumb..

Yours is a flawed comparison.

Today's models of reality are based on empirical observations and scientific naturalism while flat earthism is based on bronze age mythology.

Then again, maybe not. What if the reality that you're observing is changing? What if particles doesn't work the way we think they do? What if string theory turns out to be true, and are all but a small part of a larger reality (or multiple realities..).

Yeah, I guess it is concievable, but I'm actually not interested in speculative philosophical masturbation.
Maybe it makes me a little boring but I enjoy actually knowing things.

Organic life is nothing but a mutation, an accident... You wither, and die.

Ok, enough with the Sovereign quotes sorry.

Any ways. Uhh. Tough question.
I don't believe we are alone in the galaxy in terms of life.
I do believe we are alone in the galaxy in terms of life with technology at the stage ours is at.
I think it is probable that we are alone in the galaxy as the only species with 'advanced' technology.
I think it is improbable we will EVER find an alien race, even if they do exist. Far more likely we will go extinct first.

Uhh... Yeah.

Well, that wouldn't be a problem if we could get to that cluster of 4 stars in the Milkyway made of Antimatter and harvest their solar winds. And keep our harvestors safe from their solar winds. And get back to other ships in that time.

But yeah. I think 3 stage Thermonuclear reactions are a far more reasonable form of energy. Hydrogen is pretty much everywhere, and you don't need a lot of Uranium or Plutonium to set off the reaction, and it produces a lot of power [Check Tsar Bomba. That is one nasty bomb. And they were thinking of making it twice as powerful, but worried about the fallout...].
Eh, I'm just hoping we figure out the secrets of the quantum - entanglement included with how some particles disappear and spontaneously appear elsewhere [I'm going to check for a source on that actually, as it sounds quite implausible, but I did hear that from what seems a reliable source... Hrrm...] and such. If we could master that sort of stuff, it would be interesting to see what we could accomplish.

Eh? Excuse me, what the hell are you talking about? Really, I literally have no idea. Do you know what antimatter is?

For ***** sake, we don't need anything as dramatic as antimatter engines or nuclear pulse propulsion to get to Mars.

Also in a infinite universe (impossible to say if the universe is infinite) everything is possible, meaning that if the universe is infinite somewhere there are species of aliens that look identical to asari, turian, krogan, salarian etc.

It really, really sucks that when/if we encounter another form of life, the government is gonna want to kill it.

Is it too much to hope for a Galactic Council?!

why do people keep saying this...  They won't start to fight them.. First study and all that and try to communicate with it. And if they appear to be hostile.. Then they will try to kill them... And take their resources.. It all depends on the situation of the humans. If our resources are low on stock. then we might attack them. But i don't think they will attack them right away. That will be impossible.. After so may years of study. they won't attack them randomly..

I didn't think about that at all actually. I've probably just watched District 9 too many times... which was heartbreaking as I imagined them being Turians.

If we find a Prothean Beacon on Mars, and a Mass Relay over by Pluto, I'll be a happy man!

Not randomly no. Our governments will probably study them, develop strategies and weapons specialized to dealing with them. Then a dehumanization campaign in the media, which wouldn't be too hard since they're Aliens. Then invasion, mass slaughter, resource stripping etc.

It's likely, but the existence of intelligent alien life is far less likely.

The Universe is infinite in size.  The word "likely" is redundant.  There most definitely is intelligent alien life.

If there is life out there, it is either not advanced enough to care about life beyond itself, equally as incapable of interstellar travel as we are or so advanced that Earth is of absolutely no importance to it. The nearest star (yes that is the star closest to our own sun) that could possibly (maybe/could have/somewhat plausible) have a planet with some sort of life is roughly 4 lightyears away.

I don't think anything is infinite... It can't be.. But what is there at the edges of the Universe? Nobody will ever know..
The Universe is immense.
But nothing is infinite.

Dark Energy is causing the universe to constantly expand (or rather it moves everything further away). How about you instead prove where the universe ends?

Dark Matter/energy holds everything in the universe together. EVERYTHING. And yes. the Galaxy's move further away from each other.

That doesn't prove anything except that the universe is expanding.  Your attempt at shifting the burden of proof(strawman aswell) is quite blatant.

Prove that the universe is infinite in size.

Well just because something is hard to imagine doesn't mean it's impossible.

Like you can walk, drive, sail and fly around the earth forever and never fall off the edge but that is just an analogy.

I'm not saying the universe IS infinite because I just don't know but I can only discount it if and when I see an edge.

Likewise if there is life or even intelligent life in the galaxy.

Personally I find both probable but I won't know for sure until I've either said "Hi" to ET or searched every single square nanometer of every surface of every planet, dwarfplanet, asteroid, comet and dustgrain in the galaxy.

You are the only person demanding proof. Which is why I blatantly ask that you go and find the answer yourself as it is impossibly to prove anything as of now.

Someone stating that they believe the universe to be infinite is one thing. Demanding proof without providing exposition is simply being rude. Instead of demanding proof, you could simply have written that you disagree but accept his point of view.
