Guys, there's no need to rake him over the coals just because he didn't make a ton of saves. He's probably learned a lesson on that by now. No need to rub it in.



As for Shale, I'm taking her along as one of my regulars on this run, so I'll see how effective she is.

Yeah he has none....he hasn't saved since about 10 level-ups prior.

Agreed... the way it happens is super spoiler.


I've been using Shale as my tank for almost all of my second play through, very versatile and a lot of fun.

Shale as a tank is awesome.... Pretty much one of only two replacements for tank unless you play tank your self or use the respecialization addon (Best addon ever... Shale and Alistair are your naturally specced tanks as they have points spent in tanking from the get go... Oghren and Sten can tank they just lose some of their points because they start off with points in 2h weapons... unless you use the aformentioned mod).

See I didn't know this until AFTER i had already bought Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep... Plus I bought the game off Steam... Which doesn't directly advertise one way or the other...

Oh well... I love Bioware so giving them profit is ok with me.


Although long run Shale isn't worth $15...

Typical expansion packs go for $20-30 at release and Stone Prison is nowhere near that in size or depth.

I disagree. The devs have indicated Shale was a female in many of their posts, and I really don't see how it's a big spoiler.

I have a question. How come he didn't save? Is he a fan of repeating certain parts because he forgot yo save? i guess various people use different play styles. I for one like to keep various saves so that if something like losing shale happens i can just reload. Well i guess it might be a little fun doing the whole quest again. No harm right? What do you guys think?

This is the burden of quick saving.  Convenient, but often it leaves you with large gaps between saves.  He probably just used quick save a lot and never hard saved.  When he realized he needed the old saves, it was too late.

I've made this mistake before.  Usually I end up just re-rolling if it's really important.

I don't get what the problem is. You goofed by ditching shale and then for some reason you continued to play after saving over your auto save or save file...well, that stinks, but you didn't waste $15. Your download is still there, so you can get shale the next time you start a new game.

Ok, I gotta correct your terminology here.   For it to be 'gay' in modern parlance it would mean you were having sex with someone of the same gender.  So, unless you 'wasted' your 15 bucks on a male prostitute it is not 'gay'.  A more appropriate term would be 'operator error'.  Ie.  YOU screwed up by kicking someone out of your party, and you ascerbated your error by not saving.  Remember, F5 (quicksave) is your friend.  So is manual saving the game at key points.  Like, BEFORE talking to your group and making game changing decisions.

I feel gypped.  I got the game through direct download and never got 'The Stone Prisoner'.  Never shall I revel under Shale's flinty glare...ah well.  Some of you may take Shale for granite, but I never will.

Can't the OP just deactivate the Shale DLC, save and then reactivate it to begin it again without his character having to be relegated to earlier level?

I can't see why there should be a problem with this.. if you send him away then it is what you did... you can make a new character and start over for playing the game, I don't see why the game or bioware should be held responsible for your actions.



It does not mean you have permanently lost shale, you can always get him again when going through the game second time or whatever.



As for a helper try the different saves if you got any, that is about it else as everyone else have said, you are out of luck.
