The problem is that we have people incorrectly claiming that krogans are useless on silver while others say they're just fine on gold. If you've got an average or lower skill level, taking a krogan just magnifies that and generally worsens your contribution to the team do to the percieved "specialty" of melee god as opposed to the reality (miss a single heavy melee on gold due to glitches and you're stunlocked and/or screwed). The relatively unforgiving nature of gold (assuming you're not farming with the "proper" classes) just magnifies the krogan's deficiencies.

Actually majority of Krogan problems in Gold are from Geth, because of the amount of stunlock (most troops actively try to melee you, and Prime/Hunters attacks stun).

If caught in the open after a charge, I certainly go down faster than I would if I actually did have 50% damage resistance. I mean, even my level 1 Krogan that only had 25% damage resistance and not that much more HP (therefore lesser "effective HP") than my 20 Vanguard doesn't go down nearly as fast when taking fire. Plus even when charging and novaing literally nonstop, I still seem to take damage at some points, even as host (or in single player).
Also, 50% from charging would make Krogan Vanguard essentially unkillable just from pure damage reduction. 30% from Rage, 30% from Barrier (if they indeed get Barrier), 50% from Charge. That's 110%, and I'm told ME3 counts these things from base value. Though if it is instead like it is in many other games... then it's something like damage taken (say, 100) minus 30% Barrier = 70, minus 30% Rage = 49%, minus 50% Charge = 24,5. Still pretty nuts compared to any other class out there.

the massive melee damage comes from krogan rage passive skill which both sentinle and soldier have and so will the vanguard so the damage wont be majorly differentBroganisity wrote...
The way I see it the Krogan Vanguard will play like the Vanguards of ME2. I haven't seen the full class skill-list, if there is one actually available, but I have a feeling the KV won't have the massive Melee damage of a Krogan Soldier...though, yes would probably be considerably more useful than the original two krogan in the hands for an expert...
...Otherwise expect the see dead vanguards, dead krogan, and dead krogan vanguards EVERYWHERE.
