hello one and all, i could not post before but i just registered so now i can! ;).

i need some help.

i recently resserected another topic with this general problem and i decided itd be better if i just made it a diffrent topic now that i can altogether.

so my problem is this, and yes i know its been said over and over and over again, i killed a the dalish elves and now my access to health potions is basically gone, save for buying the few on the market and looting the few i get.

so in this other topic that is still zombying around i think there were people who said i should get wynn or a spirit healer now, most say this person is a must.

so im wondering a few things.

is there anyone else that sells the elfroot that is needed to craft potions in the game? i mean an unlimmited amount? or was.."that vendor at the camp" the only one?.

and do any of the DLCs include a merchant who has this infinate supply of elfroot?

if the answer to these is no and i no longer have access to that precious unlimited supply then i am wondering if picking up a spirit healer is my only option at this point?

yes i know its possible to do the game for some master stratagists out there who know the exact path to upgrade their characters or who are just better then me in general who dont need the vendors because they use so little potions that they have to "stop and sell a few bundles of the stuff" as one player reported to me.

im not that guy lol.

i used A LOT of potions and i dont have any desire to metagame which means pick up certain abilities or make certain choices just so the game is easier, id rather upgrade based on what abilities sound cool to me and where i want to go and do etc.

but in light of my unknowingly stupid decision i will pick up said healer if it is the only way to keep playing comfortably as i used to.

(i have no desire to go back to casual, it doesnt really fix my problem anyways as i still use potions there to, less of them yes but i still use them..which i have none now so i have the same problem there as in normal difficulty lol).

so im not really looking for get this spell or that spell or play like this or that, just helpfull information about a possible other way to get a lot of potions and if not, is a spirit healer my only option.

thank you in advance!

oh one more thing to add, people have also suggested that morrigan with the heal spell is sufficient, thats not so for me. i require a lot more healing then that. if all attacks are focused on my tank his health gets down relatively quickly and the heal spell recast timer, although relatively short, is not short enough for me to keep him alive always.

and if i dont have everyone focus on him with taunt etc then everyone is injured and while i can keep my tank alive, everyone else will die.

Well, AFAIK the merchant is the only unlimited elfroot guy; but, I haven't played the same path as you with the elves, so I never had to search for another source. I can say that it is still possible to amass quite a collection of elfroot, just by buying or finding it every chance you get. I don't know if that would be sufficient for your play, however.

A spirit healer definately adds a comfort zone when I'm playing. Party Heal and Revive can come in very handy. On one playthrough, I gave Morrigan that specialization, and it seemed to work out OK with just the 1 mage.

Also, there are some strategies for mitigating damage to your tank, but some of them can feel "cheap" or like power gaming, I suppose.

ya the amount of buyable elfroot is defenately tapped out for me im afraid, i could see how party heal and revive would be huge.

well right now shes the only mage i got and shes not a spirit healer shes a arcane warrior. because it think that class is pretty cool.

it seems you are a little hesitant about saying a spirit healer will earase this problem?

because if having a spirit healer really isnt going to help that much im not going to go for that rout, only if its a must for my playstyle.

If you have Wynne in your party she'll save your @$& a dozen times over with her healing and regeneration spells, provided you tell her what to do. She annoys the heck out of me, but she is useful.

so im guessing these spells that are so usefull just come from the spirit healer class? and if i choose to go this same rout i could just buy this specialization for another mage and theyd be just as usefull?

Unless I'm misreading your post, at some point in the game you will have to decide one of two things: whether to have a Spirit Healer NPC, or to kill her. My advice, if you do not want to delve into alternative strategies, or metagaming, is to make sure you get her. That way, if the game is getting difficult, you can always take her along. At least you get the option for the rest of the game.

There are certainly some difficult battles in the game where, without a healer and with limited potions, the going gets tough. I would miss having a healer, in most of my playthroughs. Especially my first, when I wasn't "in the know" on all the game mechanics and such.

Sorry if it seems like I'm being hesitant, or avoiding a simple yes or no answer. But everyone plays different, and gets their kicks differently. But the simplest answer, I suppose, is "yes, get a spirit healer," since then at least you still have the option of using her or not.

Hope that helps you decide.

yes and yes (after using up the required talent points, of course).

oh that defenately helps. no you didnt misread or anything you got it perfectly it was just when you were talking about her you said having one was OK like it was a little bit of a help but not really so i was just wondering if it was worth it then.

but i believe your basically answering my question as a no there is no other vendor, even in DLCs (that you know of) and yes a spirit healer is my only viable alternative.

although it is unfortunate, i only have but two mages, morrigan and soon wynn i guess. i liked my party how it was, but i suppose i will need a spirit healer now that my potions are gone and morrigan already has a specialization or id just use her if i must have a spirit healer now. (i could have stocked up on elfroot too i guess but i probly wouldnt have bought enough and i didnt know that would happen).

i suppose ill have to live with her.

so i just got wynn and her ability from spirit healer to regenerate health for everyone in the party is freakin great. next time ill just stock up on elfroot before i kill them though as i dont really "like" her, not to mention moriggan freaked when i let her join us, which i did say the correct thing to where she didnt dissaprove of me, but seeing as how my character is in a romance with her it is a little wierd having this gramma run around with me.

but shes wrather usefull at her art, especially given my position so thank you a bunch LaztResort.
