Indoc Theorists are people willing to give BioWare the benefit of doubt until they themselves make a confirming statement.

IT theorists are bigger fans of the game than you will ever be.

Stuff like this just makes me say no.  When people start talking about what makes a true fan, a good fan, or who is a bigger fan than whom it just rubs me the wrong way.

You should see the talk in the IT-related threads, then.

Some theorists are calling out the people who no longer believe in the IT as "fair-weather" or not TRUE believers, as if this was a test of faith.

Sad, scary, but, really, pretty hilarious.

Please tell me you're joking or exaggerating.

I just feel more sorry for the IT folks as they seem determined to hold onto faith in Bioware's writing until it is absolutely not viable under even the most generous interpretation of the facts.

Which means the crash, when it comes, will be even harder.

This just makes me feel sad for Bioware.  The IT suscribers were basically the only people who still wanted to believe that the writers were incapable of producing such poorly written slop.  Part of me thinks this is why bioware refuses to outright deny indoctrination theory.  Doing so means letting go of basically the only decent press they have recieved since the game was released (not counting all of those game reviewers, who I believe didn't bother to finish the game or didn't care as deeply about the universe as most of us here do).

There were some earlier posts that I meant to comment on, but this is the most recent one I found. Yes, this is from the main IT thread:

If you lose all hope because of a vague answer and yesterday's DLC announcement which didnt say anything we hadnt already known for weeks, I'd venture a guess and say your faith in IT wasnt very strong to begin with.

QFT. Less fair weather, finicky IT followers please.

Yeah, I dunno. I would be considered a subscriber to the Indoctrination Theory and all the evidence that supports it. Although if they can make real sense of the ending by some other means, then fine. The alternative is that they really are a bunch of crappy writers who botched the ending. I find that depressing after playing over 100 hours of Mass Effect and buying into the franchise in a big way.

In any case, they did make a mess of this ending and I guess we'll just have to wait until the summer and see if they "fix" it or even make it acceptable within the context of the Mass Effect universe.

I would not call it faith. I just believe the odds of them writing it perfectly for 99% of the game only to get this bad at 1% is unlikely. Also dont see them trying to kill off a franchise in which they have 1 animated film, 1 live action film, and more comics and books on the way. Thats ALOT to lose just on 1% of the writing for them not to give a crap about it.

As far as it not being right, thats been a possbility since day one. Just becuase I believe the odds of IT is high does not mean I ignore its chances its just bad writting out right. There will not be any crash for me becuase of this fact. If its bad writing I just move on

I used to believe in Indoctrination Theory. Then I realized it also had holes in it and started to doubt it. With the announcement that the post-ending DLC would be all cutscenes and epilogues, and now with this PAX statement, it's as good as dead to me.

Indoctrination Theory is simply the denial phase of grief.

Sorry? Why? they came up with one of the best solutions to annul the ending. They were more cool that Casey Hudson version.

The guy who started the IT thread would disagree.

Posting this again for how ridiculous it is, with bolded emphasis from me:

If the other 99 percent had been flawless, you might have a point. But it wasn't.

To be fair, I've been a "wait and see" person since I finished the game. I still am. The way I see it is BioWare have made so many amazing games that to abandon the whole company based on one game (I won't say series, as the rest of it except for the last 10 minutes of the latest has been damn fecking amazing), I feel, is a shame.

But looking at the Indoctrination Theorists makes me feel genuinely sad, as they held (and in a lot of cases still hold) such an adamant and admirable stance on BioWare's writing. BioWare should be proud to have fans like them.

I don't much like the whole "what makes a fan" business myself, but if there's ever an indicator of what makes a "great" fan its the Indoctrination Theorists. I hope that they at least pay homage to these people, in that they at least leave it wide open for IT to remain viable. If not, actually go all out and make it one of the epilogues.

I remember seeing somewhere that BioWare is *still* taking feedback, there's something to remain hopeful for at least.

If the Indoctrination Theorists are truly the "great" fans, I'm fine being lumped into a "lesser" fan category than being associated with them. I won't lose any sleep over it.

Better to be viewed as a lesser fan in the eyes of....someone, I guess, than a full-blown conspiracy nut.

I feel bad for the theory itself.  It would have been the most epic piece of gaming in history had it been true.

LOL

You would be one to call us a full blown conspiracy nut, after all, you're an Intoxication guy.

I could care less what you think of me, and I'm sure other IT believers agree with me there. We're allowed to believe what we will and until I get a statement confirming otherwise, I will continue to believe IT.

That said, would you like a straw? I'm grasping one too many at the moment. Maybe you can grasp a few? ;)

I actually really do, as a fellow Bioware fan I can understand them wanting to believe that Bioware just weren't incompetent enough to make the pile of horse s*** ending that we got and so they couldn't take what they were seeing at face value.

And it's really sad that they've been proven wrong and Bioware really are just that useless.

We should all feel sorry for what Bioware has become.

No, I don't feel sorry for myself. I'm a natural optimist, and if I wasn't, I might not have made it through the much tougher things I've gone through in life. It was a great theory, and I feel like it's a damn shame that BioWare wasted such a great opportunity. It has been a hell of a roller coaster ride these past few weeks, and I feel bad that the company has just kind of... fizzled out.

I still find it hard to believe that they ****ed up this badly. Surely many people can understand that.
