I'll start with one thing missing from the announcement:

(1) Additional dialogue options with the Catalyst. There needs to be more exposition on the rationale for the cycle and Shepard needs an opportunity to ask questions, because as it stands Shepard's acceptance of an assertion against evidence to the contrary makes him look like an idiot and makes the final choice appear arbitrary.

I think with this *and* added epilogue and cinematics, the ending could be satisfying. Without added dialogue with the starchild, the main problem with the final choice will remain.

(2) Apart from that, the explanation for the Synthesis needs to change because the current one is compeltely nonsensical. Without giving anything away, the phrasing from the leaked script is an acceptable alternative.

(Note: I heard a rumor they're calling back Shepard's VAs for the Extended Cut. So I think added dialogue options is a possibility)


I dont know why we need an extended cut for clarity on the ending because,

It is explained that the Reapers were created to wipe out all advanced life in the galaxy to prevent them from creating synthetics and wipe themselves out, not hard to understand, stupid but not hard to understand. Extra clarification on this will not make it any less stupid.

Yes I know that it is totally stupid and that the Synthesis ending gives science a falcon punch to the balls but then again what in the Mass Effect series doesnt? I mean it is all pseudo science and space magic to me, can you honestly tell me that half naked squadmates surviving in the cold vacuum of space wearing a mere gasmask is any less stupid? Mass Effect fields? Guns with infinite ammo requiring thermal clips? Stop pretending that Mass Effect universe is scientifically plausable and enjoy it for what it does do right.

I thought nobody knew what the catalyst would do? But that being said I wouldnt mind seeing a 4th ending so long as it goes a little something like this,

Shepard and crew fail to stop the Reapers, as Shepard watches everything he fought so hard for get destroyed Anderson comes up behind him pats him on the back and says,

"Cheer up Shepard, you know what they say. Sooome things in life are bad"

I don't see how it works, though. People complain about the irrationality of the endings, but this would be a big injection of more  -- unless conservation-of-unhappiness is now a physical law in the ME universe.

Anything that retcons the StarChild.

Be it indoctrination, hallucination, reaper hologram anything. Just something that comes out says, star child was not real.

Because indoctrination theory or not, the whole end sequence is bad.

With regards to the Shepard living ending (breathing scene), waking up on Earth after the failed indoctrination, going into the Citadel and using the Crucible in a non-relay destroying manner to kill all Reapers OR something else like Reaper level shielding to all of your sides' ships (or literally stealing it from the Reapers, leaving them much more vulnerable). Shepard reunites with crew, happy ever after with LI.

The other choices (control/synth) can stay how they are, you're indoctrinated.

I would like to see them explain the gaps and things that didn't make sense in the ending, which unfortunately is the entire ending. What happened to all that Dark Matter talk in ME2? Why do the Reapers need the Keepers to open the Citadel relay if the Citadel is controlling the Reapers? What the heck happened to everyone at the end of the game? How did my squadmates get from Earth to the Normandy out in space? Why is Joker flying the Normandy away anyways? If I synthesized all life why is Joker, EDI, etc... still the same at the end? If I control the Reapers and send them back what does that mean? Do they come back? What do they do out in Dark Space? How does everyone react to no longer having the Relay/Reaper tech anymore? Honestly the only thing I was ok with in the ending was Shep dying to end everything, though I would like the option to see what happens if Shep lives. I do not play MP and would love to be able to see the few little things I am missing out on by not having enough points, can you make that happen? It's really not fair to us SP only players and/or those of us who don't want to pay Microsoft money for a Gold account for one game. (I just don't play MP games, those kind of games have zero interest to me.)

I want something rather simple: An ending that doesn't in any way seem like it was written by someone high off their ass on illicit drugs. If we get anything of the sort, it will be vastly different from the fiasco that was forced upon us in the retail game.

Add a paragon or renegade interrupt when Starbrat's explaining the Destroy option - the Geth and EDI don't have to die. See I'm not asking Bioware to write off Starbrat anymore since it's obvious they're sticking with it. I just would like them to give me that option and "expand" on Destroy.

Then explain why the Normandy was running away from the MR blast. Explain what happened to them: where did they land? Where they rescued? If Shepard was alive was he reunited with his crew? What happened to the galactic armada? Were they able to return to their home planet?

I need a believable explanation for why Javik, The Embodiment of Vengeance, and EDI a damn remote-controlled robot, would abort the mission, even if I were presumed dead.  Where the F#$% is Mordin when you need him?! He wouldn't have gotten it wrong!!!

But seriously- Liara stuck by me when I was a protein slurry on Alchera, brought me back from the dead, and possibly just mind-raped me in a bombed out office building in London to preserve my essence.  I need a good reason to think she'd leave me now.

Oh and Harbinger needs to show up for more than 30 seconds.  We've been waiting an entire game plus a DLC to impale that guy on the citadel.

Also, it'd be nice to know if the Desiny Ascension actually does anything or is it just for show.

I'd like to know what happens to the fleet.

I'd like to know what becomes of my squad members and past squad members.

I'd like to know the short term future of the galaxy I left behind.

I agree it almost seems wrong for the geth to gain life to day shortly after.

It'd actually close alot of the holes (pretty much all of them) and give you a "clean slate" to place whatever final moments you want in there... heroic sacrifice, pro-human renegadey choice (I dunno), or even some miraculous "Shepard lives" moment... then cut to epilogue scenes showing the outcome for surviving squadmates/important characters, how the genophage decision impacted the galaxy, how the geth/quarian outcome impacted the galaxy, and (if alive) Shep+LI living out their days.


For bonus points: Renegade interrupt headbutt on Starchild.

I think it would be awesome if your Squadmates would come with you towards the beam.  That'd be awesome.  To get themselves more involved in the situation instead of just...disappearing. :(

And If you brought your LI along, you could get extra stuff. I don't know.  Fluff it out. You guys know what I'm saying.  You don't need dialogue exactly...but it would surely help! 


I wanted to spend my final moments with Garrus and Tali at my side with Anderson before we decide what happens. That's how I'd put it.  


And the final memory panning should be a flashback of the Squadmates you all had in ME1.  Why just Anderson, Liara, and Joker? Why not Garrus, Tali, or your Virmire Survivor?

an alternative ending, Walters/Hudson/Dragonlordz can keep the their endings they want, but give the rest of us an alternative ending that i don't have to wipe out the synthetic race i had just helped if i want  to destroy reapers.

I really like this I would also add
what happens to people on the citadel(the council,Bailey,Aria)

what happens to the galaxy does the galaxtic comunity recover and become stronger( fate of
Assari,Humans,Turrians,Salarians,What left of Batarians,Hanhar/drell,elcor,volus,qurians,geth,Rachnai

atleast add a dlc where this is a confrotation with harbinger on some level

some more dialogue with the catalist

fate of all squadmates current and former and the normandy and alliance fleet.

with all of this I feel like it would become a more than fair ending maybe not as hapay as we wanted but lets face it the cycle of repears harvesting every 50,000 years being broken is a happy ending in its own right. with all these I feel like plot hole are fixed and closure is given thus makeing the ending that goes with a great game.

would be kind of nice if geth culd live sad that they just became alive only to have to die.

1. More dialogue for catalyst part
"Your logic is bad" - "Don't you see the difference?"
"I've proven you wrong" - "It won't last. I suggest you hurry"

2. Epilogue after the choice
-Some variations based on amount of war assets and relationships.
-Normandy crew can survive on the planet for now. Unclear whether anyone will come for them though. Some variations based on who's LI and who's alive
-Varied segments on key people IE Jacob having a baby
-Unveiling a monument to Shep/Normandy, Hackett and few others having speeches that take account Shepard's history, his choices and crew.
-After credits future visions based on the past. What will Krogan, Geth, Rachni, Reapers do? What about other races? Who finds the data module.
