Fans: We want more closure at the end of the game.
Bioware: We are listening to all feedback
Fans: We want it to be free DLC!
Bioware: We are releasing Extended cut DLC for free which will give you all more closure, it will be released in the summer and it will be free!
Some Fans: NOPE! I'm done
Why don't you just wait until the DLC, then leave if you are not still not happy by then, I will even join you
Actually we very clearly said we don't want closure, we just want them to make our choices matter, and for their promises to be valid.
They gave us closure instead and ignored their lies.
False advertising is illegal, I hope to hell the FTC investigation ends up fining them.
How do you know your choice won't matter with the DLC? Would you rather we had nothing at all? I wanted a choice to have a happy ending and I think they can even manage that with this DLC, have a little faith. Also please don't get me started on how stupid the FTC thing is.
Relays go boom. Creating a new Relay is no small feat. At best the galaxy will be reconnected within within an eon. Though the buzz aldrin scene isn't a good sign (lost over time!). While the color of the explosion may matter, that is not the choice that people loved from the previous games. The choices all had to do with your companions, side characters, and side plots. Curing the Genophage, uniting the Geth/quarians, saving the Rachni, etc etc. All of those choices were essentially rendered moot by the exploding relays.

First off, the FTC was created solely for the purpose of investigating trade and advertising illegalities. So we're letting them do their damn job.
As for their things... there is no way 42 plot holes will be resolved by modifying the ending scenes... because that doesn't fix the ending level, the final level, the intertwined links that are illogical and plot-hole filled, or the fact we were ****ING LIED TO.
Like I said I won't go into the FTC.
Every single game has some type of plot hole whether it's one or ten, big or small, trying to fix every single plot hole is a bit silly and I don't see 42 plot holes in the game (I would love to see a list however). Yes you got lied to, but guess what, we are not the first gamers to get lied to and neither will we be the last, try no to let it get to you, just shake it off and move on

It still hurts though, BW could have been so much more.

The FTC's job isn't to investigate the fact that you didn't get the 16 endings you wanted, and there is no way the FTC would ever rule in favour of fans who feel cheated regarding an artistic/commercial work.

I seriously have NO interest in the idea of more sociable games. That is code for "making players dependent on the online parts of games that they don't own on their disk at home, enabling the publisher to control how/when games are played and allowing them to charge more and more money for less and less content".

I have logged may hours, doing multiple playthroughs of ME and ME2. I have purchased all of the DLC for ME and ME2. I even bought the Genesis DLC, despite the bad reviews (should have listened).
Why did I buy the games, all the DLC, and log so many hours? Simply put, I love the Mass Effect universe (well, galaxy). I loved the premise, I loved the characters, even the one I always killed off on Virmire, who shall remain nameless (rhymes with maiden).
Buying (pre-ordering) ME 3 and getting the From Ashes DLC was a no brainer, based on the strength of Bioware's previous body of work. No reviews required. Apart from some odd quirks, I absolutely loved the game.
Until the ending.
It is hard to articulate how I feel, but here it goes:
I feel like I was sucker punched. It broke my heart, and the suspension of disbelief required to stay immersed in the story. The current ending is so sharply incongruent with the 2.95 games that precede it, that I have been completely yanked out of Mass Effect universe. Instead, I am spending more of my time trying to understand why it written/published this way, and watching the back and forth between Bioware and the disgruntled fan base with morbid fascination.
This is not good. I want to be immersed again, but I keep getting yanked out every time I approach or even think about the ending.
So the Extended Cut is coming out this summer, and will be free DLC. Given how badly the current ending has gone down, I think that it will be a big challenge to fix it. I have no specific requests or requirements, as I think that there is plenty of good feedback out there already. Expand, explain, replace, supplement-lots of options there.
I sincerely want Bioware to succeed with the EC DLC, because I desperately want to be able to plug back in. I can't do that if I am left with the feeling that it all ends in a nihlistic train wreck no matter what choices Shepard makes.
Am I done? I hope not. I will wait until EC comes out. I need to play it first before I can answer the question.
If EC simply adds the feeling of being curb stomped after being sucker punched, then I am out. I will get no further DLC for this franchise. I don't have a fast/reliable enough connection to justify a Gold membership to xbox live, so I don't play multiplayer. Even if I did, I wouldn't purchase MP DLC.
If EC is done right, (sense of closure, sense of purpose, and so on), I will be able to plug back in. Then I will buy and suck back DLC like so many Tupari Sports Drinks.

I'm gonna wait till the DLC comes out and decide on that, but patience is in short supply here.
Although I fully expect to see most of these posters again when the next Bioware game "fails to live up to expectations".
