I really don't see what the problem is.
Bad stuff did happen. But yet, it is still in other games.
You do see WWI and WWII game out there. It should give your enough material to rage about.

LOL the amount of desperation people go through to make Bioware look bad is hilarious.

You do realize that thats what the support structure of a building looks like.

-There isnt any. I think most will agree. However it reeks to high heaven of insensitivity and of sloppy artwork.

It would be akin to including this pic in the game. Thats how much of a blow the americans here will likely see it.

Even IF that image is shopped, this thread will devolve into something nasty...

Yeah better lock it down before it's too late and trigger some diplomatic incident.

-Nonono... Wont go that far. But thanks for attempting to combine sarcasm with hyperbole. Try for something easier next time. But if this is true, it will start a flamewar between the americans and everyone else here who want to argue that the americans should "get over it" as it were.

My thoughts precisely.

I have nothing against the game, nor Bioware, and I really do think it was an honest mistake, it's just something I noticed.

I don't think it reeks of either. I look at that banner and I see the Reapers destroying Earth, nothing more. I looked at the other image linked and yes, it may look similar, but that is probably becuase that is simply what destoryed buildings look like (The metal framework left more intact resulting in that pattern.

I do understand that it was a horrible disaster but that does not justify going into a rage over something like this, particuarly when it bears only minimal resemblance to the disaster in question in the first place anyway.

I do not see the point in getting upset about any of these disasters. It was sad then, but people ought to get over it due to it being over 10 years since. So they used a destroyed skyscraper, big deal. I do not see how this is anywhere close to being worth being even remotely bothered by, let alone upset by it.

While I'm not going to try and argue with you that some of us aren't really oversensitibe about 9/11 imagery, it's not fair say all Americans here are going to throw a hissy fit. The
image doesn't appear to have been used maliciously, and it isn't so
easily identified that they could have somehow been trying to use it for profit. If you're going to photoshop a bit of ruined building into a
picture, may as well use that bit.

-Oh Im not upset about it. Im danish. Aside from the occasional death threats and attacks by people that take offense with our "artistic vision" things are very quiet here. But I do believe that some will be upset.. I  like to think I know a wee bit about america and their pet peeves. 9/11 is one of them.

-Im not saying "all americans" are oversensitive. But I know that quite a few still feel this to be a very raw nerve. If you feel that I implied that all americans would "throw a hizzy fit" as it were, then I apologize. I ment no such thing. I just mean that some people will feel very strongly about this.

Aye.  No malice indeed.  Just incredibly bad taste.

The sad thing is I doubt Bioware actually knew it was WTC. Some guy just google imaged 'destroyed building' and photoshopped it in.

What disturbs me more is how much lazy copy-pastaing bioware marketing has been doing lately.

I'm sure they knew. Corporation like BioWare can't take any image of google and simply put it on ads and in game. If any of those image have royalty on them (most image have now) they would have to pay an enormous fee only because they didn't bought the right to the picture in the first place.

Trust me no company is fool enough to do this. Or at least I hope they are not that fool as it is the first thing they teach you in copyright and website/content creation class.

It is to a lot of them. I am an American, but it didn't bother me when it happened; I was empathetic, but I think people are too sensitive if this is a soft spot for them ten years after the fact. At this point, I just say they need to get over it; especially the ones constantly ranting about terrorism as if an event like 9/11 happens every single day in this country.

Oh, I definitely get that. Traditionally you never see unlicensed imagery. But we still have other questionable images used- like the ending scene that's basically a desktop wallpaper? Last I heard that wasn't licensed to bioware. [But maybe there was some new developments in that case.]

It just seems like there's been some questionable doings lately.

Rotterdam's city centre in the Netherlands was bombed flat during the beginning of WWII.
If I saw a partial picture of those ruins used (not abused) in a videogame I wouldn't be upset actualy, eventhough my family suffererd greatly during WWII.
It's just rubble, and I don't think that BW's intention was to hurt anyone, maybe it was a little untactical because 9-11 is still fresh in people's memories.

The fact of the matter is the architect of the destruction of the twin towers is already dead. There's no more sense in debating this debacle in history.

It's not something you instantly come to think of while watching the banner, so I wouldn't say that it's distasteful.
