EA forced them to cut corners? Is that why EA allowed them to take an extra 4 months to polish up the game.

Remember the original launch date was Nov. Of 2011.

Most likely what happened was that EA rushed them initially and BioWare told them a year and 10 months is too short. So, EA probably told them you get one extension and that's it. Remember, EA is a business. They'll only give certain people extensions and even then, if it messes with their quarterly financial report, they almost certainly won't. If the game had come out in November 2011 or December, I shudder to think what else would have been wrong with it.

To me tali's picture is SPOT ON.

Its like the snuck into my brain and took the image.

I do wish they modeled that SAME face into the game (maybe in extended cut).

But either way your raging over something silly. Calm down my friend tali wouldnt want to see u like this

Tali looks like a human? Wow! There must have been a really long brainstorming session on that one.

I guess so, they actually said (paraphrasing here) they "went through thousands of images until they found one that suited her". Unreal dude. If a dev sees this or something what the heck happened to your originality! Don't tell me you can make turians salarians all these other races but you can't make one more?

YAWN. no one cares. the photo was fine & suited her character.

so what if it was a "stock image" - they still have to find it.

now, if you don't like it, go do something else with your life.

Bioware. Can make brand new model for a random freeriding Chobot reporter. Can only photoshop a face for one of the series' most longstanding, loved characters.

Honestly, if Rockstar can get their hands on technology that can almost flawlessly imitate facial animation for LA Noire, I think it shouldn't be difficult for BioWare to at least take their poorly done photoshop and put it on a model that they already have 90% of.

That's great but for me, it was just a total letdown and showed how BioWare was rushed.

Tali also wouldn't want to see herself disgraced by people who think she looks human. I thought Quarians were a proud race that didn't necessarily like humans all that much and probably won't take compliments like that well.

Okay so the ME3 Codex says nothing of Quarian biology. I would assume the compiled information on the site is from experience with the Tali photo.

there are other official sources. the books, the collector's edition codex etc.

I bet they forgot about her face. And had to scramble a month before deadline to get it together, slacked off, and then did it five minutes before deadline.

Because these are the same people that forgot Thane was a LI. You know, the character designed from the ground up to be a LI.

I do like the look. And, considering the codex AND what was written in Mass Effect: Ascension it is about what I expected. My problems with it come down to two things.

1) It wasn't an in-game render.
2) The expression doesn't fit her.

#2 is more of an artistic issue. I mean, she can have any expression, but really isn't she shy/flirty? The current expression seems very... Miss Britain.

I tried to phrase myself so as not to come across as dismissive, but I definitely chose the wrong words. You did an amazing job with that photo.
I honestly did not mean to offend.

Maybe when EA realized that releasing Dragon Age 2 in beta stage, if even, was bad for business, they granted a few more months. That doesn't mean they granted enough.

Business should at least wait until beta testing to announce a launch date. It'd honestly be better off - fans get a pleasant surprise in a couple of months instead of having to wait several months in anticipation, and developers don't have to work for deadlines.

Bioware should have anticipated this reaction and not showed her face since they lacked fund to put a full-hearted effort into it.

so Tali can go without a suit onto another world even though her race has been forced to live in suits even on thier own ships, except birthing rooms (still lots of risks) and....be..completely healthy?

I liked the photo. They only need to fix the hand, clothing and background. That's it. Everything else is fine.

I respect your opinion but why couldn't they have at least implemented that face into the game engine, using the photo as the base for the modeling for her face, then put THAT into the picture frame like they did for Shepard, Miranda, Liara, Samara and Diana?

The answer: they were simply rushed.

Yes, it was rushed. But nothing I say or do will change that. So I'm just happy with what I got.

Ah. I have not read the books ... but would be surprized if Quarian physiology was elaborated upon and it was not more widely discussed from them.

Was this codex with the collector's edition of ME?

I always loved tali but never romanced her.

Like it or not that is what tali looks like! You cant change that. Just like u cant change what miranda or smara look like.

That is tali as bioware sees her and since it is biowares game you must accept that.

I don't really care that they went this route personally, since I'll probably never see it in any of my games, but the thing that I find kind of strange and/or disappointing is that it basically implies that even after 2 other games, countless hours of writing, sketching, finding the voice, building her character from the ground up...even Bioware didn't have as clue what Tali looked like under the hood until they found some stock image they thought was hot. And I think that's why it comes across as a lazy hack job.

Then model the damn face into the game! That's the issue with the face!

It's a lazy photoshop!

Ironic because this picture looks like it took no more than 30 at the most. Also How? Her skin would have to be pale, her fingers redone, the background redone, the lines redone, the clothing redone, the head redone. That takes more than 5 minutes

If BioWare had just used this face as a model, scanned it in, modeled a face around it, put that into the game and the frame, almost no one would be complaining.
