I liked all the books from Drew Karpyshyn. He clearly knows the universe's lore and the hard science underpinning it. He doesn't make the characters "pop" the way the games do which can be off-putting to some people.
I wish there was more to work from too, but we can speculate (a bad word these days) on how it would work. We know Rannoch has no insects (great place to picnic), has a more orange sun and is more arid than earth. That is about it.
I see plants on Rannoch relying on wind borne pollen to mix genes and wind or fruit as a method of distributing seeds. But it is a wide universe and we don't need to limit ourselves to terrestrial examples.
I must be off, but enjoyed this enlightening conversation ... perhaps that word is too strong, but I have appreciated your patience and our little give and take. Though I hardly contributed except through questions.
Still, that the photo was the only experience I'd had (that I can recall, there may have been something in the ME codex) with Quarian appearance, I will once again express my dismay that I felt the lore was not so clear to me as to assure the logic of them evolving with human-esque skin to support their own ecosystems.
Even so, if clarification could satisfy my confusion in relation to that, it offers me hope for other "plotholes."

It wasn't so bad.
