Would you get behind a remastered ME1?

Now I'm sure several people have already asked things like this, but I haven't seen another topic and I've been thinking about it, so I'd like to see what you guys think.

There's an almost unanimous love for Mass Effect 1 across the forums and rightly so; it's a Sci-Fi epic with an incredible premise, plot, setting, etc. that got almost all of us into the series to begin with.

But there's two things that always bother me whenever I go back and play it: the visuals, and the combat system.

ME1 did a lot of ambitious things visually for it's time, but seems a bit outdated nowadays. The concepts and style are there, so updating the graphics wouldn't be incredibly difficult, as they aren't starting from scratch. Bringing things like custom Shepard faces and world textures up to speed would improve the already strong immersion twofold for me.

The other issue (that several people overlook) is the combat system. It's not terrible persay, but nobody can look at 1 and say it's truly more fun to fight in than 3. While like most I'm a bit upset with the emphasis on combat in 2 and 3 as opposed to 1's strong story, it's difficult to argue that ME1 with an ME3 type combat system wouldn't be fantastic.

So how about it BSN? Would you be willing to buy ME1's amazing story telling with ME3's stellar gameplay and visuals? Sounds perfect to me...

P.S. I understand many are upset about the endings, I am too. But please only reply if you're going to say something that isn't "ZOMG Boycotting Bioware forever endings SUCK!" There are other threads to do that....

Yes. I would get behind a remastered ME1. A touch of love updating it would be nice, the story of that combined with the combat from 2 and 3 would be nice.

But it is hard not to leave out recent events and the record of the last few games sadly. :( As much of a good idea it is, a lot of people would be reluctant to give Bioware and EA any more money lately. A shame when this idea does have a lot of merit behind it.

Yes. The visuals of ME1 were good for their time but I would very much like to see a remastered version with the combat/art style of ME2/3 which I much prefer.
Would wait a while to see what other people thought now that my trust has diminished somewhat but yeah, I'd buy into that.

no, the ending of ME 3 ruined the series for me, and they aren't going to fix it, just explain it more to us dumb people who don't understand there crappy artistic ending that violates logic and lore.

I would get behind it if my Shep was reverse-importable from ME3 to ME2 and then to ME1. Shep goes back in time!!!

Certainly, I like a lot of the combat improvements in ME 2 / 3. But, the story of ME 1 must remain intact, I don't want to see the RPG elements suffer.

Think of all the extra waist-high walls they'd have to slap up everywhere.

Mass Effect 1 with modern game play? That would be possibly the best game ever...

I'm a big fan of remakes because the original is still intact, but you can create a new version with some new tones, new take on it.

It doesn't damage the original in any way shape or form, its still there if you want it, intact, whole.

As such, there are dozens of games I would love to see redone with updated engines, game play elements etc - the trick is capturing the essence.

I really did like the combat in ME1, in particular Krogan, Hoppers and overheating weapons made for some intense combat moments. A lot of people don't like it, but I wouldn't go into a remake expecting an identical game, as such, if it had ME3 combat or something else entirely, I'd still give it a whirl.

Upgraded gameplay mechanics why not, as long as the environments, looks, and the story are untouched. I wonder if they could do the old Citadel with upgraded graphics though considering the microscopic size of the environments in ME3. Perhaps something for next gen consoles.

Hey, all they have to do is use is ME1's instant new room technology! It's just placing boxes in the same three rooms in random locations and hoping it works out.

There are loads of PS3 gamers who'd play a PS3 version

I got it on the PC and well I'm not used to PC controls.

I was unable to import decisions from PC ME 1 to PS3 ME 2.

I think that Micorsoft still owns the rights to ME1 so that's probably a no go.

Given the way the series concluded, no, I wouldn't buy another Mass Effect product.

I rather wait until the new consoles and have a fully remastered trilogy. So we can play one long game.

Only if they keep the PC controls.

You know, one button for something, and not a button for everything. Also F1-F4 for weapons, Journal, Codex, Squad, Inventory, etc.

And the GLORIOUS RETURN OF CROUCHING would be amazing aswell.

once they are done with all 3 games... i think they should port them over to the next gen system (whatever it may be) and update them all. Better graphics on all and more so add some of the better game play mechanics from 2 and 3 into game 1 as 1 need the most in overhauling and then sell all 3 games and content as a Mass Effect trilogy collectors edition.

Same here buddy. I played ME1 on PC, but switched to PS3. If they released a trilogy pack on PS3(maybe on the next console) with the DLC installed, Hell yes. Even without the DLC, it would be great to play 1 on PS3(or its succesor.) They might have to do a bit more than increase the reolution though. ME1 had some control issues and bugs, I hope they fix them if they decide to rerelease them. Plus the Combat is really hard to go back to after playing 2 and 3.
