I tried them all in gold and i cant change the fact that the BW obliterates enemies. Kills hunter with 1 ED and 1 shot, next 2 shot can kill 2 mooks, no other sniper can do this.

* Not that great, doesn't really work particularly well for any class. With an ammo capacity mod you can spam it all you want and never worry, it's good for sustained long range damage output
Viper IV
* Waiting to level this to X, could work if you can hit consistent headshots. Forgiving.
Mantis X
* Infiltrator's bread and butter before you get Widow(s)
Javelin I
* Just got this today and tried it out. Pretty neat but weighs a ton which is too bad as you may want a secondary firearm for close range (because quickscoping with the charge up time is not so good) but the weight already constraints your power recharge times. Carrying nothing but this, I have about a 9 second recharge on cloak and ED. The damage output is pretty sick though and the scope does see through smoke and solid objects, which is nice.
M-29 Incisor V
* Haven't found a good reason to use this weapon but maybe at max level with the right mods and on the right class it'd get to shine

Black Widow is the best weapon in the game. Until you get one I'd take the Valiant. Wouldn't recomend 1shot snipers for Gold because there is not bleedthrough damage. If you play Bronze or Silver... well it doesn't matter because you might as well melee every enemy to death on those difficulties.
Salarian Infiltrators have Energy Drain, and therefore don't need "bleedthrough damage".

IMO the way to go with the Javelin is to actually build for extra capacity rather than damage. It doesn't need the extra damage, and you can shave off several seconds from your recharge time. Really only makes sense witht the SI mind you.

Raptor isn't a sniper rifle so much as an AR with an integral scope that frees up a mod slot for something else. I generally find it performs roughly at an equal level to a Mattock. So solid, but not earth-shattering. It has slightly less DPS, but the extra mod makes up for it IMO.
The Raptor is not a good choice for an Infiltrator. Period.

I prefer the Valiant, even on Gold. It is what I use to do work and carry the team when feel like trying. It is light enough for you to carry a Maxed out Heavy-Pistol with light weight or a SMG with the proper mods. The Mantis will carry you for a while and is preferred by those who utilize their powers more then the general damage of a Widow or the Black Widow. Both of which well weigh you down till you get them of a decent level and even then can be a royal pain in the ass to use with powers as well.
In the end it all depends on how you function. The quick fire ability and speed reload of the Valiant and Viper can help you blow past the Widow's power and DPM. But, the Widows will forever be able to deliver that massive damage needed on one shot. Then again, not sure where a Valiant X sniper will be ranked considering it might match a Mantis X almost. Best thing to do. Grab a team, do some runs, or Solo Bronze till you get the feel you are looking for.

Mathematically, if you assume a 5% chance per spectre pack of an N7 weapon, and divide that by the number of N7 weapons (7), you have a 0.7% chance per Spectre Pack of getting a particular N7 weapon. So to essentially have a 50% chance (this is not precise math so much as general estimations) of having a given N7 at level one, you would need to purchase nearly 150 spectre packs. To have a 50% chance of having a given N7 weapon at level ten, you would basically need to purchase ten times that many. That would amount to nearly 100 million credits (that's well over 500 hours of Firebase White farming in case you didn't know, and that would mean you've been playing this game 100 hours a week since release). Now there is the possibility of extreme variance that might give you ten levels of an N7 weapon in one hundred packs. It probably is close to winning the lottery in overall odds, but I'm sure it's possible.
But having two? No. You are either a liar or a cheater in that case. So which is it?

Packs are not entirely random. They tend to give upgrades of weapons you already have.Atheosis wrote...

I think my main dislike with the slower firing snipers, is the trade off in recharge time, and while the Mantis has a great recharge time, I gimp myself if I don't equip another weapon for close range as they only do half damage when unscoped.

Just for the hell of it, I played a Gold match vs Geth as a Turian Soldier using Raptor VII, Disruptor ammo II and AR buff II. It felt like a pea shooter! *click* *click* *click* in endless succession, and after what felt like a long while to be shooting peas, the Geth Prime had been reduced by one shield barAtheosis wrote...

I think mattock is possibly in a different class altogether

That's a sickening amount of grinding and I don't know why you would brag about it, but well done I guess.
