So I just realized the bridge leading to/from the Proving Grounds always triggers a party banter, but I have to go to a load screen and back for each new one and loads in Orzammar are pretty long. Any other areas like this where I can explore banter with different members?
Areas that trigger party banter

Between the blacksmith, and the bridge in Redcliffe village. You still have to go to a loading screen, but they're close together.

You mean the bridge that leads to Den Garrison's house?

the bridge in Lothering triggers em if you happen to still be there, once you've cleared the Mage tower I know that there is at least one trigger there although I forget where.

It leads to an island with a couple boats, I think. You don't have to go through any elevation change.

I've always been able to trigger banter when entering the Brecilian Outskirts map (near Mithra.)

I'm almost certain it's time based and not location based.

There are several spots that do seem to automatically trigger it
Lothering bridge, Lothering 'center' (by the Elder), Dalish Camp entrance, Orzammar proving bridge...I can second all those always playing a convo.

As mentioned by another, once you clear the Mage's Tower you can trigger a convo on the first floor after the Quarter Master but before the (living) apprentices and junior mages.
Another trigger is the area outside the entrance to Ozramarr (sp?), at the base of the stairs leading to Oz proper around the surface dwarves.
Sometimes they won't spawn a conversation, which I assume means that the party dynamic is used up temporarily. Pop in a new teammate, leave and return to the area and they should work again.

I wish party banter would trigger more often in regular play. I only get it six or seven times per playthrough it seems (actual party banter, not the one-liners characters deliver upon entering some areas).

I think the spacing is a bit messed up, when you keep the same 3 npcs for most of the game (like I'm sure many do) it kind of dries up sometimes in the mid-game and the last half your party becomes mute. At least if you spend as much time as I did exploring.
