I also want a game that will allow me to play anywhere from 80 to 100 hours. I want a game I can sink my teeth into and a great story. I was so immersed in DAO the world literally stopped. I want this same experience again....something totally addictive. I also want a pc version of the game to be exactly that - a pc version and not a watered down console version sold as a pc version.
As for the armor thing, I could care less about getting to color my armor. I'd rather these funds go to story, dlc, expansion and a great lengthy game. I also didn't like in MOTA the way we traveled through that game. I really didn't like it.

He'll come back for more epic themes. If they are willing to give away free ending expanding DLC because of fan want, they'll bring Revan back for stuff much more epic even if its just because of fan want.Brockololly wrote...

They gave Revan a voice, might as well give the Warden one as well.
And they also canonized Revan into a cheap MMO boss fight. Masters of storytelling there.

I'd rather the Warden stay gone, banished forever to silent protagonist HEAVEN.
Fixed. Because silent protagonists are heavenly. :innocent:
I agree

We are the wardens voice, he/she needs no other...
Exactly. We control practically 97% of The Warden. Save what they say, and even then we can change how we think our Warden would say it and what words are used. We have a lot of control, and if he/she is given a voice? That almost entire control will be slashed by 50% or more.

I am perfectly fine with the DA1 Warden having a voice. What I'm more worried about is whether the voice will fit MY character and whether BioWare can make MY character act as I would envision him/her acting outside of my control. Personally, I don't think the Warden is cameo material.
Exactly. That is the issue. It's almost certain most of us will dislike The Warden if they get a voice and a non-controlled cameo. Some may like it and say, "yes, that's how my Warden acts" but most will think that aspects are not their Warden at all. Intonations, expressions, gestures, all unique to their Warden.

How are they going to bring the warden back without giving him/her a voice?
Let the player play as the Warden temporarily for the relevent sequence.

Like the Orlesians captured the warden, so they could get info on the Ferelden defenses, strongholds, weakpoints and so forth. As a last resort the Warden chose to cut out her tongue so she couldn't speak. Before they found a work around with using hand gestures and writing, the Warden was freed by - I dunno, Loghain or Alistair.
That way they don't need to voice the Warden, but can introduce a universal interpreter for the Warden to speak for her.

They should just make it a part of the story, that the Warden can't talk anymore.

That is saying that the warden is pro-fereldan. My dalish would give the Orlesians what they wanted before cutting out her tounge.

I think the ideal way to handle it would be to give the player control over past PC's like Warden and Hawke. I think it would make the most sense to have them in dialogue-only sections so you don't have to worry about combat, levels and such. For example, maybe the game cuts to a female (importing) Warden conversing with Alistair in Ferelden before returning the viewpoint to the main PC in Orlais afterwards.
If you're the one making the decisions that's cool. And the Warden doesn't even have to be in the same location as the PC. In DAO, we get scenes of Loghain and Anora that the Warden isn't present for. That approach to storytelling is already there in the first game of the series. The difference would be that the Warden is controllable in those sorts of scenes.
I think if I'm making the choices about what's said (from choices that are admittedly given to you by Bioware) it gives you a feeling of ownership over the character, making the voiced-versus-not-voiced issue less important.
So, yeah, this is a tricky subject. I felt the Warden in particular doesn't have closure unless he's an Ultimate Sacrifice warden. So there are questions to answer. For a Dark Ritual warden, it would be good to know the consequences of that decision. Did he make a horrible mistake? If he walked through the portal in WH, what was on the other side? There are things worth knowing. But of course you can screw it up by doing crazy things with the Warden that cause people to feel disconnected. Explicitly connecting the player to the Warden through control and choice cuts down on the chances of that happening.

If they don't voice him/her they should make an excuse for why the Warden is not able to speak any longer.
Or better yet, just let the DAO Warden be. If they need a Warden due to story, use a new one.

Let him/her just be seen travelling with his/her former LI, or whatever.
Hawke could have a voiced cameo though.

And even if we could control him/her, the voice is still going to bother me. What if I pick a line that makes sense when I read it, but the tone is something my Warden would never use? I just feel that our Wardens are far too nuanced and defined that this would just never work. Sure, it would satisfy some, but largely it would serve just to further ****** people off and I think Bioware really needs to be avoiding that.

So either just a very brief, non player-controlled cameo (my Warden Queen waving at the crowds from a carriage or something), or leave her out of it altogether. I'm okay with the fact that she's a very busy woman, being Queen and Warden Commander and all that.

That could work. Or have a line that the Warden's voice was damaged.hoorayforicecream wrote...
I always imagined a scene where the Warden and Hawke entered together and had a talk with the new player character. Except the PC and Hawke would do all the talking, while the Warden stood between them looking back and forth and opening his/her mouth to speak, only to be cut off each time. Eventually, they would finish just as the Warden was about to say something, and the Warden would simply sigh in frustration and walk away.

I will not import any of my Wardens into any game that does not allow me full control of them.
