Actually, I wish they would include a better skill system so that any character could learn to disable traps or pick locks. This would go a long way to not require class X to maximize your xp. Why could a mage not have a cantrip that does it? or why would a warrior not learn them as they can be useful skills? At least allow for bashing/breaking doors in or something.

100% open level progression

That particular example has only combat based skills, but the same concept could be applied with non-combat skills included as well.

Traps are fine. The only thing I find frustrating are locks and traps in situations where it's quite possible that the player hasn't encountered a rogue yet -- for example, the locked chest in the Loathering Outskirts in DAII's introduction. Unless I'm personally playing a rogue, I can't open that. Ever.

What do you know. Different possibilities based on class selection. How crazy is that?

Are you being facetious?  Surely you must see that there's a world of difference between "different possiblities" as it relates to a class' journey through the story and the odd gameplay-related occurence of "Oh hey, unless you picked this one class you can't open a single treasure chest in the tutorial".  There's nothing about "possiblities" here.

No, no they shouldn't. BAD IDEA. Lots of games require you to chooseclass composition of your party and traps and locks are part of the genre, which many of us enjoy. It's a group game, all you need is one rogue.

There's more than one treasure chest. And there's other ways in which you become limited based on which class you choose. Make choices, encounter limitations, find some things inaccesable. It's not a bad thing for different angles of encountering the game to be different from each other.

If I choose one class, I want my experience to be different than if I had chosen a different class.

GOD NO SERIOUSLY NO.
Add a Casual difficulty where you just walk to the story.
But keep the trap mechanics in the game.
I want a challenge , not to be hold on my hands while I take a strolling to the park.

I like my locks and traps. I'll name a few reasons:

1) I like rewarded for being careful or "Getting around" certain areas fasters aka just like BG 2 and other RPGs.
2) Traps makes me stop from rushing into stuff thus Skyrim I did pay a few times for rushing in awhile other times I was playing "Oh I string, I better jump it". Kinda like the rewards from disarming em just like in BG 2 when I sent my rogue finding em all.
3) Lock doors I love too including lock objects thus so this way bringing an rogue is top marks.

So to me keeping traps and lock doors will still feel like an RPG.

So lets take all elements of an RPG out of DA?

Good point there Image IPB.
If you're in for fighting you can play the game on nightmare.

An RPG is unlike a shooter a game that offers other challenges then just killing stuff Image IPB.
The more choices you have the more freedom you have to play the game as you want it.

Locks I can pretty much take or leave. I mean, I want them the game but I wouldn't mind having ways in which non-rogue classes could potentially bypass them.

As far as traps go though, I think DA2 already went too far in removing player-ability to craft and set them, and in crippling the stealth/scouting abilities of rogues that were so satisfying in DA:O.

Basically I want to see more tactical options and depth, rewards for doing recon, etc. I don't want to see more streamlining.
