EC Update: Space Grandpa found some of his medicine and was able to recall more details about how the story ends. Therefore the kid got a more complete story that sucks less balls and actually ends in a decent way. Elsewhere Asari Space Grandma tells a similar story to an equally starry-eyed kid. Banner incoming (maybe).

Alright people, it's time to give tribute to the saviour of our beloved Mass Effect franchise. He suceeded where Marauder Shields could not. And all he had to do was forget his medication...

Give it up for Space Grandpa! His deteriorating mental condition prevented him from remembering how Commander Shepard's thrilling tale ended. Not wanting to disappoint his grandson and cheat him out of a promised bedtime story, the heroic old man used his last wits to fashion a new ending. The rest as they say is history (or you know incoherent ramblings).

Support Space Grandpa as the hero of Mass Effect 3! He just needs his meds! He's got more stories to tell!

The thread that brought the light:

Banners, fanart, fanvideos and/or fics are welcome! Spread the word!

So, has Space Grandpa been telling this story since the very beginning? How could he have known the parts like Saren throwing a b*tchfit?
And just how specific was he?

"And then she said: I've cleared the engine room. Be there in five minutes.
Kid:O_O"

Isn't it obvious? Space grandpa is Shephard (also please do not ask me where Fem Shep is perhaps she got a sex change and turned into space grandpa)

Did that all really happen?
You mean Bioware screwing over Shepard and the Mass Effect universe as a whole? Yes!

Yes, it all makes sense now! And the boy wants to hear more, because Grandpa left out so many things.
Grandpa got the end so wrong because he's so senile. He also exchanged his pills accidently for a bottle of alcohol and is deliriously fantasizing.
Maybe he introduced the starkid as a good example for grandkid to get him into bed, but it just didn't work out.

Anyway, how does Grandpa know about Shepard? Easy: He's got the Shepard VI in his suitcase. But wear and tear have taken their toll on the old program. And as it originally sucked anyway, his story is severely impaired by characterizing Shepard horribly wrong.

Coming soon: ME4! Grandkid: "Granpa, you LIED! I KNOW it! I'm LEAVING and finding out what REALLY happened!"
Grandpa: "My Pills!"

Oh God, I've been so blind! It's SO OBVIOUS! Thanks for the enlightenment, the story can finally go on.

Makes perfect sense.

The kid could kind of sense it, too, that's why he asks if it really happened.

Or he was playing a joke on the old man the whole time and hid his pills to see if he would wander around in the forest with him telling him some crazy story.

Ah ha, the space grandpa is a Marine on the battle of Earth, he told the kid everything he knew, but rather than say "Grandpa was a coward and ran away from Harbinger with wet pants." he just made some stuff up "Yeah sure, beam of light, and the Illusive man was there too. And uh a kid."

In the end he is just trying to make a good story.
Grandpa, ya should have taken your meds.

It's the only thing that makes sense of how...unsatisfying...the endings are. Honestly, Space Grandpa should have taken his meds.

Did you notice in the end titles that Space Grandpa is voiced by Buzz Aldrin?

Yeah I saw that I will admit though when I first heard his voice I thought he sounded an awful lot like Martin Sheen who did the voice for Illusive Man.
