In the mod I'm making, Gray Warden Camp, there will be upgradable parts of the camp.  A major issue I need to address is how much to make these will cost.  To help me with that I would like to know what you have on your character at any given time to balance the prices just right.  So please let me know as this camp will be useful all the way through the game minus the last level although I will try DESPERATELY to try to get it to work for that part as well.

Thanks!

I wouldn't make it cost gold at all. The amount of gold in the game is fixed. You can't go out and grind for gold if you run out. So if you add new things to the game that cost gold, you should also add additional sources of gold. It would be easier if you make the upgrades unlock based on your XP level or something. Just my opinion.

To answer your question though, at lvl 17 I have around 60 gold, but I spent 100 on an item. I didn't get this much until recently though. I was pretty much broke until around lvl 12 when the good armor started dropping.

If you pickpocket, you can have LOTS of gold, like 500 gold or so when you finish.

So, your system will reward thieves. Honest players will never make that kind of coin.

This is really getting into areas where small groups wouldn't be able to finance it. Y'know, classic RPG situations where a castle barely costs more than a suit of armor....

Well I figure it will be an amount of coin modified by talking skill, level and any "Warden" items equipped in the party (e.g. Warden Commander armor from the Keep download) as well as a couple missions to get someone to move to your camp. Specifically, in a nation mobilized by war your resources are going to be low. So, for the smithy I would foresee having to go to Orzaamar, for example, to get some material agreements for stone, wood, etc to be delivered to the camp. Things like this will give players the rationale for getting an NPC to be in your camp to be 25 gold, for example. It would be an amount to let them move without taking a huge loss to their profits. Does this sound like an agreeable compromise?
