For some reason I can't not have her in my party. Does anyone else think she's one of the best RPG characters ever written/voice acted?

Characters like Leliana or Wynne just drive me crazy, but the Morrigan's dark nature seems refreshing in these types of games. My first playthrough she kept me in suspense the entire time. Nuetral evil someone referred to her as?

Am I alone on this one?

No you are not alone.

I just gave up on my Alistair-romancing Maker-loving Templar because I couldn't stand not having her in my party. Maybe I'll come back to it.

But I disagree she's neutral evil...well, maybe. Neutral Evil/Chaotic Neutral, depending on how you look at it.

I think she's a bit weird in some respects.. She doesn't come across to me as an evil character, yet many of the items you can gift to her are demonic charms. Many of the dialogue paths cause her to come back with a sarcastic remark and negative approval points despite obvious circumstances: I.e. We have to go there anyway, we might as well, and it'll get us more approval with the town and/or loot, so what's your freakin' problem, Morrigan?

She annoys me with her constant whining and negativity, and her voice grates on my nerves. She sits in camp 100% of the time. Probably sulking and cutting herself or something. :P

I agree she was a brilliant character, strong personality and well voice acted, but even every now and then though she claimed to be logical, she tended to agree with irrationally dark choices even if they didn't benefit her or you in any real way and disagreed to stuff that was no sweat of anyone's back, but still benefited everybody.  It drove me nuts sometimes.

Morrigan = "Why did you save them? I can't believe you went out of your way for this."

Me = "Out of my way? They were right there, like, two steps away, and they had money and power that might benefit us later, which we need. You know, so we don't all die in the long run? Seriously, Morrigan, why the *bleep* are you against sending two seconds to of work in promise for reward?"

Morrigan= "Because the strong survive and the weak should die. Compassion and love make you vulnerable."

Me=" Well...In order to MAKE yourself strong so you don't have to fight a million darkspawn by yourself and get yourself eaten alive you have to WORK for it a bit, right? Or did the squirrels serve you food on a silver platter out in the middle of the woods?"

Morrgian= "What? No-"

Me="No? Well, then guess what? The same damn rules apply. You work your butt off, you make progress, you make progress then you get stronger over time, you get stronger over time then you are more likely to survive. Work's an investment, get used to it."

Morrigan="...I hate you."

Me= " Well, why don't you go back to your lonely area of camp and complain to a tree about it? I'm sure it'll care just as much as it did last time. It'll probably help you out just as much to. "

i rather found her quit enjoyable. Her constant snipping at Alister was fun to watch. I find her more chaotic/neutral than evil. As for some of her gifts i would consider the fact that blood magic deals with consorting with demons to account for that as oppossed to her being evil in and of itself.

My issue is i love leliana and want morrigan in my party now if i want a pure hearler i either have to play one or have wynne there which then makes it hard as to which tank to take they have such fun quirks it is hard to choose

I liked Morrigan and my character romanced her, but frankly I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more to her. She was voice acted brilliantly, but really most of the interaction was basic quips so you never really developed any tie to her. My vote for best female NPC remains with Bastilla from KOTOR. Morrigan does not hold a candle to her unfortunately.

I wouldn't say Morigan was chaotic evil; more like lawful evil. Or perhaps lawful nuetral. Think about it, she has a ruleset that she does live by. Everything she does, she does for a reason. Further, she believes in logic over emotionality; logic is lawful; emotions are chaotic. As an example, emotion is freeing a butterfly from a spider's web. Logic is watching the spider feed, knowing full well that in order for there to be life, there must be death. But does doing so mean you are evil? No.

Anyways, she's not evil. She's just drawn that way.

I hope the devs incorporate Ogre's dialogue choices into the next installment.

Hmmm, are you saying Morrigan is actually a Vulcan?  Actually thinking about it she does kind of remind me of T'Pol (or whatever her name was) on Enterprise.

Morrigan and Alistair banter is funny sometimes, but she's so ugly and she don't have the spells I want, and I loose favor with her all the time and she complain about almost any decision I make so I dump her with most of my chars. Alistair also is a complainer so I drop him to. I usually stick with dog, wynne and Leliana. At least the dog shut up, AND he can find items for the party every now and then. That is free items just for having him in the party! I like that!

There's a mod called 'no follower starting abilities' that makes it so that any follower that joins you starts out with no talents or attribute points spent, and you can build them however you want. It doesn't work with specs at this point, though. Those still stay default..

I totally agree.  Although I think most of the concept and Sacred Ashes chars were far better than their in-game counterparts.

The Morrigan in that trailer has some weird things going on with her mouth. She looks like she might be a dude in drag.

Morrigan in game is a silly child, with warped notions of how the world works. Her fascination with shiny objects demonstrates that she is not above the trivialities of "humanity" that she finds so foolish.

I think I prefer the Sacred Ashes trailer version of Morrigan over the concept art and the in-game version. (loved that sneer, mocking smile/laugh)

And, like the OP, I always keep one party slot 'reserved' for Morrigan (and Leliana...'til maybe I start playing a Rogue :P )

Well she is the only one of the characters who face the world what it is for, and by that enforce logic ways of this and that, people don't like that but I love it in some sort of way.

The others are merely psychos... just picture Shale haha... or the naive and dekadent Alistair...

I don't think she's that special to be honest. Or, maybe it's because I don't care too much about her. She can sit in the camp and be silent. Seems like she can do nothing else but insult the other party members.
Alistair >>>>>>>> Morrigan. Although, the voice actor for Morrigan is great :P
