Dear Bioware, you know there is nobody on this earth who believes that, right?  You developed a game with intense interaction between the characters, and previously had lots of cut scenes about what happened to everyone - an actual denouement so to speak, but now you're "Shocked! Shocked!" that people would have wanted a comprehensive ending to the third game?

All your pre-release stuff indicated more of a capstone ending to the series, and we don't get anything about any of the races we've worked, nor much of anything about our ship mates.

And you didn't know?

Again, nobody buys that.  Your statement at PAX today makes it sound far more likely that you actually thought you could get people to pay for a final ending as a DLC.  I hadn't really believed that until now.

Again - the whole star child thing is a travesty, but I would have expected some wierd defense of this, not, you were shocked that your fans, who you clearly understood perfectly up until the last 5 minutes, would have actually wanted to know what happened to all the things they had spent the past 30+ hours working on.

Care to try again?

Here's the transcript from the Kotaku liveblog:

KCox: "Why was that content not in the game at launch?" The dev team stands by what we releasei nt he core product, wer'e very proud of it (mild applause from audience) "It was important though, for us to listen to the community, and community feedback ovbviously didn't come until the game came out" "couldn't have included in game because we didn't know there was huge demand for it

It's true, I heard a rumour that all developers are locked in separate rooms without windows or internet access.....well, that's the only logical explanation I can come up with.

Bioware. The key to getting out of a hole the size of a sovereign class Reaper is to stop. digging.

You know through out this whole thing Bioware has consistently left me speechless.
You those times when someone does or says something that is so retarded that the only thing you can do is stare at them in disbelief? Yeah that someone is Bioware.

"When asked why that content wasn't included in the game at launch, the dev team stood by the release in the core product."We're very proud of it," they said.  "It was important though, for us to listen to the community, and community feedback obviously didn't come until the game came out.  We couldn't have included it in the game because we didn't know there was a huge demand for it."

Yeah, this kind of rings hollow to me.  I KNOW there was a ton of discussion and some darn good ideas thrown around on these boards prior to the games.  If they wanted to know what people wanted in the endings, they really might have wanted to check their own forums...Image IPB

Seriously? Wow... just... just wow. They actually thought that most of us wouldn't care about having a good ending to a series that we have invested hundreds of hours into? I didn't think it was possible to be that stupid Bioware. I really didn't. You knew that we loved the story, the universe, and the characters yet you thought we would be okay with you not wrapping any of that up. It boggles my mind.

Hi, I'm WhereEternityEnds and I just took a dump in a cardboard box.

Audience Member #1. Why did you not just take a dump in your own home? On the toilet?

I am very proud of defecating in a cardboard box. I stand by that fact.

They could not know there would be a demand for the player to have closure on the squad and galaxy, so exactly what were people posting on this forum over the course of two games(ME1&ME2)
They obviously listened to the feedback regarding Garrus and Tali.

Yes, that's why they touted those exact things in the pre-launch build-up... because they didn't know people wanted it.

If you didn't know that there would be a demand for this, then that means you genuinely didn't see all the obvious, glaring problems with the ending as you originally wrote it.

And if you can't see such huge problems with the ending to a series that you have been carefully crafting for over half a decade, then I don't think I can trust you to write good stories anymore.
